RE: [LegacyUG] Version 8 Pedigree View

2013-11-29 Thread C.G. Ouimet
I know ...

But here's lots of room on a 24 monitor for much more than 5 generations and
I'd love the ability to see more than 5 ...

Perhaps the realistic limit is 8 or 9 but at least let's have a look ...

Really? You know that the 10th generation has 512 ancestors? That would be less
than 2 pixels in height for each individual at a display resolution like
1920x1080.

Wondered when someone would do the maths on 12 generations on a standard
monitor *grin*

I would be comfortable with having 6 generations visible at one time, but
not 7 or more - that's just too small.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Version 8 Pedigree View

I usually live in Pedigree view and was perfectly happy with the way V7
Pedigree view looked. I only have one monitor and had set up V7 to fit neatly
in one corner with browser and image viewer elsewhere. If I do this with V8 it
simply doesn't look right.

My V8 screen has lost the Spouse/Children and Siblings boxes and has
double-height boxes for each person. I have no reason to want pictures shown
here.

Is it possible to change the V8 view so that it is more like the V7 view?

If not, can I make my first suggestion for V8?

Cheers

Tony

Re: [LegacyUG] Version 8 Pedigree View

2013-11-27 Thread Cathy Pinner
With Legacy 8, the Panels have gone - so how do you access this very
useful information?

You turn on Pop-ups in Options Customise 1.7 (isn't that a great
change - being able to refer to Options by number :-) )
Information Pop-ups only work on Pedigree View and not Family View as
they used to in L7.

However they're vital on Pedigree View to access the information that
was on the panels.
The popup gives you spouses and children. You have to go to the
previous generation to get Siblings.

Anyone in the pop-up can be clicked on. double click to change the
focus of Pedigree View to that person.

Note that there is also a change to who is in focus on Pedigree View.
It is only and always the starting person. By that I mean you can't
click on someone else and then change view and find them in focus as
was the case in L7.
