Re: [LegacyUG] Step Children

2006-02-23 Thread Susan Daily
Lee,
View Children's Settings while you are in Family View, and you'll see
the list of all children for that husband and spouse. When you
highlight a child, at the bottom is the option to change the
relationship. They should be natural for the two parents.

As Tom says, you really shouldn't/won't need to change the settings to
anything else, since each one will still have a natural relatonship to
their true mother.

Have you listed the children (view 1/2 siblings) so that you can see
the half child with their natural mother's name in parenthesis?

If you do decide you need to list some children as adopted, then you
will actually have to link that child to the second marriage, with a
second set of parents. The child will probably appear twice in the
list, although I don't know since I haven't tested it. So tread
carefully here.

Dave,

I guess my question is really How do I enter the children in the New
Marriage? Do I leave them in the two previous families, and add them to
the new marriage also or remove them from the previous?
If they are removed from the first marriage when you view the family of
the child, only the stepmother shows up and not the Biological Mother.

RE: [LegacyUG] Step Children

2006-02-22 Thread Dave Pointer

Oh I misunderstood your question. You enter them according to their actual
parents. So for husband A and wife A, you'd enter their children. Then go
into husband A, change to wife B and enter their children. Now if the
Show 1/2 kids is turned on, you'll see all of the children no matter which
wife is selected (1/2 will be shown beside the step children in each
marriage).

Did that explain it or did I confuse it more?

Hmmm. Both of my grandparents were married three times. I selected "Show
1/2 Kids" and I can see all the children from all those marriages. Next to
the child not of Albert Leora's union, it shows the first middle names
of the other mother or father involved. The first bunch on the list are
his children, from his three marriages (only two produced children) and the
last two on the list are from her previous marriages.

My list looks like this:

Irene Clara Vantine+
Infant Vantine
Richard Leroy Hoffman+
1/2 Edwin H. Vantine+(Hollis Lena)
1/2 Velma Rosella Vantine+ (Hollis Lena)
1/2 *Malard Dean Vantine+ (Hollis Lena)
