Otherwise, if you want to use LilyPond, I have a project with a couple other people in the works to make this possible, but it will take a bit of time. I think (but don't take my word for it) that a scrolling cursor would be harder to achieve, but for changing colors or the like you could experiment with outputting to SVG.
