Re: ctrl-C ctrl-V

2013-08-05 Thread Shlomi Fish
Hi Shlomo,

do the same symptoms also happen in a new UNIX user account on the same
system? For what it's worth, I cannot reproduce them here on Mageia
Cauldron (which admittedly is different than Mageia 3).

On my new Mageia3 installation I have a strange problem. Copy-Paste
using Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V don't work in Kwrite or Kate.
But I discovered that the problem only exists if I start the programs
by clicking on a txt file or running them from the KDE menu.
If I type kwrite or kate in a Konsole window, both programs work as
 expected.

 Any ideas?

I should have thought of that. I checked and the problem is only with
1 user. I compared all the settings in Kwrite for this user and another
user and don't see any difference.

BTW - I should have mentioned that this is ONLY in Kwrite and Kate.
In other programs (gedit, LibreOffice, Claws Mail) Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V
work as expected.

Have you tried resetting the users preferences by deleting the
relevant dot-files?

Check the global and application-specific keyboard shortcuts (I think maybe
they are called hotkeys) in the KDE Systems Settings (not the Mageia
Control Center). There may be something configured weirdly there...
