I dought if traceroute would help too much.
when it's dead it's dead :(
However, i'll suggest this to the person who helps administer meinserver. I
couldn't script my way out of a paper bag myself

IMfail so that the location of the fault can be seen.

NZNOG is the place to go to find someone more helpful.

But really, you need to log a fault ticket with the helpdesk first and
then ask for it to be esculated past level one. You need to ask to
speak to the team leader.

We're running a script that pings paradise.net.nz every minute, and reports

Of course the concept of a log that showed without question the exact times of

So as i'm sure i'm not alone with this dropout, i feel it would be good to get
telstras more capable techs to see that there is a problem, or better still,
actually fix it (whatever it is)

Any ideas who to hassle?

Thanks for the link. I think I have it solved now. The link below explains
how to do a raw copy of a cd:

VCD images

2007-11-02 Thread robert vickerstaff
I have some old VCDs (video CDs) which I would like to save as MPEG movies
on my HDD. I can read the disk images using:

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=image_file

But I have been unable to play the resulting .dat movie files from these
images. I suspect part of the problem may be that dd is not reading all the
information required from the disk. Apparently VCDs don't use a standard CD
filesystem, in order to cram more data onto each disk.

In a forum a read that the bin/cue disk image format extracts more data than
iso images (i.e. the bin file is larger than the equivalent iso file), and
that this is required for getting proper VCD images. Does anyone know how I
can extract a bin/cue format image from my VCDs?

Cheers,
Rob

1047 Colombo St
St Albans

opposite a fish'n'chips shop; near Hardie & Thompson Ltd., timber merchants

It'll be open from 1pm to 3pm Saturday; not on Sunday; open 11am - 3pm Monday
= Friday.

I'll be there from 1 - 3 on Tuesday.
