Hi Ralt,

please specify your needs: do you want a watermark? Do you need background
pictures for a presentation you are doing with LyX? Do you simply want to
overwrite one single picture?

A quick search brings many results as it is always possible to use LaTeX
code in LyX:
http://www.google.com/search?client=safarirls=de-deq=latex+picture+backgroundie=UTF-8oe=UTF-8
Simply put any setup (e.g. packages to load) in LyX - Document - Settings
- LaTeX Preamble and any LaTeX code in ERT (Evil Red Text) somewhere in the
document.

Max

It works better when you use PDF instead of WMF. PDF can directly be embedded to the resulting
PDF-document of your file, while WMF-files have first to be converted to EPS and then EPS to PDF.

Support for the conversion from WMF to EPS is built in LyX since LyX 1.5.6.
So try out if it works with LyX 1.5.6

We use the program ImageMagick for image conversions that can handle over 100
image file types:

To handle WMF, it needs a special library that is not available for Windows. (Even Adobe products

The approach of using a bib (rather than me manually entering the

The main issue is that the lines wrap only at the right margin, not at

Is there a way I can force a width for those bib lines?

Has anyone been able to get a bib in moderncv to appear properly?

Hi Ralt,

please specify your needs: do you want a watermark? Do you need background
pictures for a presentation you are doing with LyX? Do you simply want to
overwrite one single picture?

A quick search brings many results as it is always possible to use LaTeX
code in LyX:
http://www.google.com/search?client=safari=de-de=latex+picture+background=UTF-8=UTF-8
Simply put any setup (e.g. packages to load) in LyX -> Document -> Settings
-> LaTeX Preamble and any LaTeX code in ERT (Evil Red Text) somewhere in the
document.

Regards,

Max

LyX 1.5.5 and later (when installed using the standard installer)
support WMF and EMF. Most Windows applications such as PowerPoint can

Can anyone tell me why LyX gives an error when it tries to enable me to *see
* the fig LyX.

We use the program ImageMagick for image conversions that can handle over 100
image file types:
http://imagemagick.org/script/formats.php
To handle WMF, it needs a special library that is not available for Windows. (Even Adobe products
cannot handle WMF because this format is closed source by Microsoft.)

Re: moderncv and bib as "publications"

Hi Richard and all,

I'm reviving this thread as I was unable to get moderncv to format a bib
properly.

The approach of using a bib (rather than me manually entering the
information using entry/item types) seems best. The output appears in
the right order, and the spacing appears largely correct.

The main issue is that the lines wrap only at the right margin, not at
the point where the entry and item lines wrap. (see Screenshot attached)

Is there a way I can force a width for those bib lines?

Has anyone been able to get a bib in moderncv to appear properly?

I get the same problems bypassing lyx...

Again attached are my files for reference.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I'm stuck and have a job
application to do.

I did try using item/entry to manually include bib entries and that was
even worse a mess.

I haven't been able to figure this out. I'd try posting a message here:
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/moderncv
It looks like the developer is fairly responsive.

No, what I mean is that on both Vista and Linux I have RC3. I will try
with 1.5.6 on Vista, but I will have to export the file first.

includeonly

2008-10-16 Thread Guenter Milde
Dear LyX users,

I have a large document that is split into separate chapters, all in their
own directories (with lyx and eps and graphic source files).

The main.lyx file includes e.g.

Einleitung/einleitung.lyx
Thermisch/thermisch.lyx
MTF/mtf.lyx

Now I want to use \includeonly{} in the preamble, but none of e.g.

\includeonly{thermisch}

or

\includeonly{Thermisch/thermisch}

seems to work.

Is there some kind of filename mangling when the tex files are generated in
the temporary dir?
Is this reproducible?
Should I rather put all *lyx files in one common dir?

Thanks for the reply.

I'm on Mac OS X version 10.4.

And you're right, it depends on the location where I save the file.
This actually helped me find the bug: the name of the directory where
the file is stored should not include spaces, accents or other
"strange" characters.

I saw in the mail archive that this can happen when the name of the

that.

There are some known bugs, I believe, if the filename contains non-ascii
characters. Does that apply to your case?

I know now what your problem is. You are using LyX 1.6.0RC3, but the layout file you can download
from the Wiki page, is for LyX 1.5.x and not for LyX 1.6. (I designed it after RC3 was released and
in the meantime we changed the layout file format and the needed conversions scripts are therefore
not in RC3.

With the next LyX 1.6 test release we ship a ACM-layout that works for LyX 1.6.

So it should work when you use lyX 1.5.6.

Installing a truetype font in LyX

I was just hopeful that someone could point me to a how to, on installing
truetype fonts for use in LyX.

I have found multiple sites on-line but all seem to require tools that aren't
installed or available to my system, or I just couldn't get them to work.

Linux distro: Fedora 9
LyX version:lyx-1.5.6-2
truetype font: liberation

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
