You need to load, in the preamble, a package that defines the symbol.
\usepackage{stmaryrd} works for me; \usepackage{MnSymbol} should also work (I
couldn't test it because I don't have that package installed). You can also
use \usepackage{wasysym} and put \lightning in ERT rather than in a math
 inset.

I can see where this would be a bit confusing, since in a math inset LyX
recognizes the macro and displays the correct screen glyph. If you put
\lightning in ERT and do not load a valid package, LaTeX complains about an
undefined macro, but in a math inset it apparently recognizes the macro but
maps it to the wrong glyph.

I tried this on a local sweave.module, but unfortunately this breaks
all documents created with the previous insets.

Should I file a bug report regarding accepting quotes and spaces in

Code listings, listings in general

2010-05-26 Thread Artimess
Hi ,
I need some help to create an environment or use an existing environment or
package that may exist to get coding examples like the attached example in
a manuscript.
The listings should have similar numbering scheme as Figures or tables and I
need to have a list of codings, like List of Figures, etc.

I do appreciate your help

Two options:

1. Insert>Child Document, then choosing "Program Listing". The program
to be listed needs to be in an external file.

2. Insert>Float>Algorithm, and then, in the float, Insert>Program Listing.

If you don't like "Algorithm", you can define your own float as in the
attached module. Copy it to your LyX user layouts directory (e.g.,
$HOME/.lyx/layouts/), reconfigure LyX, and restart. Then it will be
available under Insert>Float.

The shaded box is split into a number of pages although "Allow page
breaks" is greyed out and it is not checked. Please, why? Does a shaded
box flow from one page to the next if required by default?

Please, why this is not de default behaviour for other boxes as, for
instance, a simple frame?

Thanks!

Shaded boxes are in general able to split across pages. The other boxes
are not, except of those types where the "Allow page breaks" is enabled.
