That may be true, but I experienced and issue with pasting Dropbox links, and 
other URLs into email messages with Ventura.
What I did was paste the Dropbox link orURL into a TextEdit plain text 
document.  Then, I would modify the Dropbox link, changing the 0, to a 1, then 
copy the link and paste it into the body of an email message.
Then even if the link was hidden, it was still modified, and all worked as 
expected.

I have the same problem. I'm on an older Mac and not on an M1. I also cannot VO 
space or VO Shift M on the DropBox menu extra. I have to rout the mouse pointer 
to the VO Cursor and VO Shift Space to perform a mouse click to get into 
DropBox options. It's tricky after that but I can eventually get into DropBox 
settings, but I still have not found a way to find out upload progress.

Well, Dropbox and One Drive and probably Google Drive all had to make changes 
to support MacOS 12.3. These changes have something to do with how these 
applications sync to the cloud and Apple allowing them to have some of the 
functionality that iCloud has.

Well, Dropbox and One Drive and probably Google Drive all had to make changes 
to support MacOS 12.3. These changes have something to do with how these 
applications sync to the cloud and Apple allowing them to have some of the 
functionality that iCloud has.

At least that was the understanding I had from a couple podcasts. Here is a

If you’re using an M1 Mac this might not be possible any more, But in your Menu 
Extras, find Dropbox. VO Down and keep going passed your storage and all that 
then you will find a status that will either say Sinking, or files uploading or 
downloading and the length of time. Also, I was listening to Maccessability and 
on the latest episode, they were talking about a third-party app. I think it’s 
called Mistral or but don’t quote me on the spelling. I can see where this 
might be useful for M1 users if still experiencing the Status Menu Bug.

To begin, your Dropbox folder should appear as a regular folder in the Finder. 
From the Desktop or any Finder window, press Command-Shift-H to open your Home 
folder. Your home or user folder contains other folders including Desktop and 
Documents (unless they are stored in iCloud Drive), Music, Downloads,
 Movies, iCloud Drive itself (if it is being used for storage), and others. You 
should find the Dropbox folder as well. You will be able to copy and paste 
files in the Dropbox folder as if you were copying, pasting, and saving to any 
other location on the Mac.
Dropbox settings for how files are synced by default (online only or local) may 
be found in the Dropbox menu in Menu Extras. If Dropbox is installed correctly, 
you should be able to press VO-m twice, VO-Right arrow over to Dropbox, and 
press VO-Space to open. You will find information including available space, 
and the status of downloading/uploading/indexing. There are also options to 
pause syncing, turn off notifications, customize preferences, and Quit Dropbox.

Thanks again, now that the fog has cleared and the fog horns have stopped going 
off in my head I managed to follow your instructions. 
I restarted my Mac just to make sure and i no longer got the dialog box asking 
me to give dropbox accessibility.

   QN is Quick Nav. Its sort of useful in the Dropbox sign in page, 
just don't forget to turn it off when you need to type something. The 
shortcut is left and right arrow keys together, its a toggle.

   Actually it confirms the issue. I can install DB from scratch, but 
one must type in the credentials blindly (pun intended). The last time I 
worked with this, I turned QN on do I could find either the user id 
field or the password field. Without using QN, Voiceover cannot decide 
which it is focused on. Then turn QN off and type in what is needed. 
Repeat this for the other field. With the user id you can check that its 
entered correctly by navigating back to it. Not a wonderful process.


   I have only been going round in circles with DB support for several 
weeks. I think I need to learn how to make a video of this process and 
send it to them.

OK, in the long run, you'll be directed to the web site, to put their e-mail 
address in to send the share invite, but to start the process, go to the 
folder in your finder.  Vo+Shift+M on it, and go to the Dropbox Sub Menu. 
There should be an option in there to share folder.  Vo+Space on that, then 
you'll be well on your way.


If you can't figure it out, let me know, and I'll try to help you out 
further.

Try going through the extras menu, and see if it is in your status bar.
This is the area where Wi-Fi, time machine, aclock, and notifications center

Dropbox does not do anything when you open the app except start the app. If you 
are not signed in, you will have to do this from the context menu. As I recall 
the only way you can open that context menu is using the real mouse. When it's 
finally set up there will be a folder in your home directory but the app will 
always look blank if you open it.

a real mouse, how do I determine what I can and can't share or who can  can't

Pamela,

Activate the menu extra by either pressing vo+m twice or control+f8.  Then use 
vo+arrow keys to move along the menu until you hear Dropbox.  This is your 
Dropbox icon which you need to click but unfortunately using vo+spacebar or 
just pressing down arrow as it is the case with most other icons in menu extra 
does not work.  Therefore, do the following.

1. Once you've found dropbox in menu extra, route your mouse to voiceover with 
vo+command+f5 key combination.  Then ;perform mouse click with 
vo+shift+spacebar.  This will open the dropbox preferences for you.

3. You should be able to use vo+arrow keys to move the preferences in Dropbox.  

One more thing:  the settings options are at the far right of this menu.  
Voiceover will announce it as settings clickable'.  To activate the settings 
drop down you have to press vo+space on the settings button although once again 
remember Voiceover will not say button but settings clickable.  Here in the 
settings, you will find quit dropbox item which is important if you ever want 
to close the application for the purpose of updating it or for any other 
reasons.

Dropbox won't show you anything useful when you launch the app from your

Hello,
I consider myself to have an average to above knowledge of current tech. 
However, dropbox is an app I have never had the need to use until I was asked 
to work with an Internet Radio station handling their public relations. I have 
had friends who make good use of dropbox. Therefore, having been asked by the 
station owner to set it up, I obliged and am still learning to use it. Again

In access note click on the sync button. Anytime you do that the newest version 
of all files is synced between dropbox and the iDevice. Next time you get to 
your mac, and it's on line, it too has the latest version.

The most important thing is that, if you do not press the sync button in access 
note, access note is not automatically synced. (smile, sunc?)

you login to dropbox, then it makes folders under the main dropbox folder

As far as braille is concerned, I personally like taking charge, using text 
files, typing ASCII braille and bypassing the various snags of braille 
translation. If you have a braille display, you will see braille but, as I 
said, you'll have to take responsibility and type the characters you want.

I got my files finally on the iPhone 4. It turned out that the problem was that 
it won't let me send brf files, but it's periectly to let me get txt files. 
This is not supposed to be, so I need to ask AFB about that. We have an office 
here, and I will call someone who can check on this for me. 

I changed the extension to be txt, and it was perfectly happy to let me read 
the file in perfectly good grade 2 braille. I disagree with AFB that you 
couldn't edit these things if you made sure to turn off the translator.

 copied both Access Note and Drop Box to my iPhone. I have Drop Box on my 
 Mac. 
 
 It says you can do this either with Drop Box or sending an email file with 
 the brf file attached. Any suggestions?

Thanks John. I already have the folder you described on my Mac. Should it not 
sync if I copy a file, whether brf or txt, to that folder? I copied the file 
under the AFB folder on the Mac. 

As for braille, I am not going to deal with translation because I am just going 
to read the braille files, should I ever get them in there. I will go and look 
at everything again tomorrow. You've done everything you can think of to help 
me with this, and I appreciate it.

I just put an Alias  to my DropBox folder on my desktop and then I can easily 
get into it by pressing VO+Space on that alias.

Hi Allison,

If you wish to get a link to a file for sharing, do the following:
Select the file by navigating to it, then press vo+shift+M to bring up the 
context menu. Go down to dropbox submenu, then choose get link. And your 
browser of choice will open, then you just copy the link from the address bar. 
Putting dl.dropbox.com and leaving the rest in tact if you want someone to be 
able to download directly. Or you can just post the link, and they'll see an 
option for downloading on the web page.

to show up on the Dropbox website after I've copied them to the Dropbox folder. 
 I don't know why this is.  What seems to work for me is just to wait till it

Hi Donna,

This is not strange, it all depends on how long the file takes to upload to the 
website, file size is a factor in this, as well as your Internet speed. With my 
4 MB connection  it takes a while, especially when uploading huge files. This 
is unfortunately something I do more often than not.

Smaller files such as text documents and Pages documents, is almost 
instantaneous.

That, I'm afraid to say, is one of the evils of technology. Be grateful that we 
don't use snail mail much anymore. Sending somebody a disk overseas would've 
taken you anything up to six weeks.

 the website, file size is a factor in this, as well as your Internet speed.

I tried this and it worked great, but when I tried to put dl.dropbox.com as 
you said, it got a little confused.
The link already had the dropbox.com site name in it, so I just added the dl. 
part in front of dropbox.com.

Apologies, that wasn't as clear as it possibly should have been … it was early.

What I meant was to add the dl in front of dropbox.com as you did, and also 
remove the www. so your link should be as follows:
httP://dl.dropbox.com
And then whatever the ending part of the name is which you can leave in tact.
