Summer of Code update?
Hi, my fault I haven't pushed any kind of cooridnation or update around the maemo participation in the Google Summer of Code. I confess not feeling absolutely guilty because of this since from the first day I have been asking for a community coordinator after having accomplished my mission of getting maemo in the SoC but... So please, could the students and mentors send a brief update about the status of their projects? Also, Google is pestering me because some of you owe them some kind of bureaucratic papers, so I'm pestering you: please take out maemo from the blak list. Thkyou. Re: Question about WLAN
ext swaroop k.s [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Unfortunately, the problem still remains. I think the bug suggests that not all visible APs will be reported (4K limit?). That was reporters opinion but I think he is wrong. Unfortunately I didn't get any replies to my questions so I cannot be sure. But, what I am experiencing is that the scan reports only 1 AP, the one to which N800 is connected to. I think that's the same problem as in bug report. I looked at osso-wlan, it sends a ioctl request with SIOCGIWSCAN, and reports the results. Look again. First osso-wlan sends SIOCSIWSCAN ioctl request, then it waits for SIOCGIWSCAN event from netlink and only after that it will query the results with SIOCGIWSCAN ioctl. But, for some reason, it just reports one AP. I even tried issuing SIOCSIWSCAN to initiate a scan, but the call is always returning -1. I'm not really sure why. See my explanation above. I did not completely follow how to wait for the wireless scan event. Can you expand a little more on that? The Wireless Extension events are sent through the netlink interface, for example iwevent uses that. or point me in the right direction? Grep for SIOCGIWSCAN and SIOCSIWSCAN from osso-wlan. You will figure it out. But, as I mentioned earlier, if I use the provided UI (to select the AP), through the Change Connection.. option, I do get more than 1 result. So, what is the method call through the change connection... option? is it available to the public? All WLAN scan results go through wlancond (from osso-wlan package). So osso-wlan will provide you all the answers. -- Kalle Valo ___ maemo-developers mailing list maemo-developers@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-developers

Add the gstreamer0.10-plugins-base-extra as a dependency to your .deb-package. Unfortunately the .install-file doesn't currently support multiple repositories, so users have to install the repository before installing your package. Depending on your software, you could perhaps change the videoscaler to a capsfilter so that the video source would readily give stream in correct dimensions. Maemo application crashes with no reason
Hi, I'm a new in Nokia770/N800 development. So, please, don't be surprised if my question looks stupid. I created a simple Maemo application (see attached file) which is needed to specify server IP and Orbiter ID and run Plutohome SDL Orbiter (application which allows to use Nokia as remote control for home automation system Plutohome - plutohome.com). The application works as I expect if I run it from xtem - it allows to specify the parameters, runs the Orbiter and stays alive during the Orbiter running. After close the Orbiter (it's run in fullscreen mode) the application is still running. But if I run the application via Nokia's menu, it's closed by some reason right after the Orbiter is started. I used as example bomberman game. Any help will be very appreciated! There is interest enough to make this happen in a reliable way but some coordination is needed. The reason is that Nokia checks all the software released in their products and offers a guarantee on them. Not receiving pre-unmounts
hi, I am currently working on a cache system that may need to keep file descriptors open in the mmc and I am trying to get notified if the mmc is in an attempt to be removed. I am listening for (pre) unmounts signals (N800 with latest firmware), but I just receive unmount when I open the mmc case and nobody is using it, otherwise I don't receive any signals and a pop-up appears for the user, informing that Memory Card in use ... Removing card may damage data ... (I do receive a remove signal when the card is removed). Shouldn't applications always be notified, via pre-unmounts, when the mmc case is opened in order to free the resources? Eclipse the IDEs
Keeping the roadmapping/planing track around the developer platform. Eclipse, and the IDE approach in general. The developer audience of maemo will increase if the platform and of course the tablets are attractive. Command line based tools are the natural context for maemo development due to the obvious GNU/Linux, Debian, GTK+ etc genealogy. However, as soon as we jump to traditional mobile, Windows based or commercial software development IDEs are a must and Eclipse seems to be the environment most developers are used to in our wider (potential) context. If you have other IDE preferences/plans, pleas share. There is some Eclipse related interest and effort going on and, again, some coordination / communication between the interested parts would be helpful to figure out what to promote and support. https://garage.maemo.org/projects/pluthon/ and http://www.cs.tut.fi/~laika/ are different projects based on Eclipse with different goals.
