Don't use the `\`. This is reserved for standard-defined IMAP keywords.

Question is, why is that label name not allowed, why isn't it using
the Gmail label instead, and what can I do to fix this?

I just tried with a label named “todomail” and that was not a
problem. Then I tried “todos” and that failed just like it did for
you. Apparently Gmail disallows certain label names. It would be nice if
that was documented somewhere...

Ah, Google to the rescue (kind of ironic). I found this
[link](http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2006-11-01-n68.html). Apparently
“todos” means “All Mail” in Spanish/Portuguese... I guess that
provides an implicit list of all illegal Gmail label names: Any standard
Gmail mailbox name in any language supported by Gmail. Theoretically,
this means they cannot add any new languages without making some
existing mailbox names illegal. I'm sure someone at Google has regretted
this design decision (although I understand their reasoning).

The best way to create a label might be to create it using Gmail on the
web. I assume any illegal label names are then immediately rejected.

You may want to enable the “Raw Flags” column in the messages
outline to see what has been assigned to your messages while
experimenting.

[MlMt] Larch IMAP Sync

2014-01-06 Thread Bram Heerink
Hi there,

I searched the MailMate Mailing List Archive on Larch but nobody mentioned it.

If you are looking for a very nice tool to migrate/sync mail from IMAP to IMAP
give Larch a try:

http://wonko.com/post/larch-syncs-messages-from-one-imap-server-to-another

I have used it to migrate ~ 5000 e-mails from Gmail to Zoho without issues.

Regards,

Bram Heerink

[MlMt] How do I only show unread messages in smart mailboxes

2014-01-06 Thread Jon Nall
I want to create a smart mailbox that (among other criteria) only
contains unread messages. I perused all of the criteria but with the
exception of possibly #Is-New-Message (which I couldn't find any docs
on), I came up empty.

Any advice on how to create a smart mailbox that contains only unread
mail?

Thanks!

Hi Jon,

You can use the condition **tags/Keywords** do not include **Seen**.

That along with any other condition you set should show you only unread.

Cheers,
Pedro Lobo

I think this is done (at least I'm currently doing this) by adding a
condition for tags/keywords do not include Seen.

If you set up the smart mailbox for unread (anywhere) then click on that
smart mailbox, it should show you the mailboxes that have unread in
them. not quite what you describe, but near enough the same effect.

You can double-click in the Unread column in the Messages Outline
(except if you double-click an arrow -- then you are taken to the
related message).

[MlMt] Initial questions on mailmate

2014-01-06 Thread Max Rydahl Andersen

Hey,

I've just recently found mailmate after having used almost any other
conceivable mail client - most fail to handle my mail load.
If I could combine mail.app with the power user features of mutt I would
be happy.

With mailmate it seems that is actually very close, but I got a few
questions that I haven't been able to find answers to so
I was thinking I would start with those before reporting too many other
issues ;)

A. Is it expected all the buttons are actually just buttons with text on
them instead of a more compact icon ?
Some buttons like Print shows up with an icon but Send Message,
Thread and Correspondance is just text buttons.

B. Is there a way to have space bar or just next unread (in postbox
binding that is what 'n' does) go to the next folder with unread ?
For now it stays inside the same folder and just beeps at me and I
have to go manually click on the next folder. Would

be awesome if this manual step could be avoided.

C. Is there any documentation for the various expressions that can be
used in things like mailbox name format ?
i.e. ${#source.path.noinbox} ? I can see some of these in the dialog
that comes up if I choose Other... for 'sub mailbox for each unique
value' but

these has no description thus leaving me a bit guessing at times.

D. Is there a way to have submailboxes show up as a tree instead of just
a flat list of folders ?
Submailbox for the messages of each account does it for the first
level, but all other levels are not visible.

E. Is there a way to unsubscribe to certain folders ?
Background: I have all my emails setup to go to a folder named
'_inbox' which I then use imapfilter to do bulk sorting of my incoming
email into
folders. This means that it is rather pointless for mail mate to
monitor this '_inbox' folder for mails and just disturbs my workflow
since sometimes
mail mate pickup the unread in this folder before imapfilter managed
to sort it ..but before I get to click on it imapfilter moves it.
Thus would be great if I could unsubscribe from this specific
folder, or at least hide it.

I think that is it for now - thanks for a great product! I'm definitely
going to buy it if my testing continues to go well the next couple of
days!
