[Mikrotik] MESH
We are starting to mess with Mesh with MT and was wondering what is the best way to set it up. We are looking at pushing internet service down a road that is not servicable or very near. We need to know what is the best way of setting it up. At the moment I believe we would start at less than 20 nodes and at least 3 Back hauls to a tower. We have four Ubtiks and we are deploying two Oct 1st the other two later this year. we can't mimic the high bandwidth on the bench but I think we will see it out in the field From: Dave Crim d...@ilc.net Sent: Friday, September 17, 2010 3:30 PM To: Mikrotik discussions mikrotik@mail.butchevans.com Subject: Re: [Mikrotik] PTP N MIMO - Anyone have a good combo? I just put up an Ubtik link this week. The Ubtik is an integrated enclosure that snaps onto the Ubiquiti mounts. It houses an RB411 and a R52Hn card (Also available with low power cards). It uses the SMA pigtails that are included with Ubiquiti dishes. We're using 2' Ubiquiti dual pol dishes. There are a lot of tall buildings on one side of the link and we are shooting between them in a 50' space, going 7 miles out to the other end. There definitely has to be a lot of multipath on the one end. The link connected right up without even really aligning, and immediately modulated at 65Mbps on both ends. Real world throughput is showing 21Mbps full duplex. It could go higher but I have the data rate modulation limited at 65Mbps max. Latency is about 1ms across the link. -Original Message- From: mikrotik-boun...@mail.butchevans.com [mailto:mikrotik-boun...@mail.butchevans.com] On Behalf Of Bill Prince Sent: Friday, September 17, 2010 12:35 PM To: Mikrotik discussions Subject: [Mikrotik] PTP N MIMO - Anyone have a good combo? I think we're going to put together a 5GHz PTP N/MIMO link. Should be easy, we've got a 4 mile link, good LOS, and we're using 2' dual-polarity dishes. I would just like to avoid re-inventing the wheel, and wanted to poll the list to see what combinations work. For RouterOS, it looks like 5.RC1 would be the ticket. How hard is that to get my hands on? Also, have they ironed out the bugs in pseudo-bridge and/or WDS? If this PTP link could run as a transparent bridge, that would be ideal. -- bp ___ Mikrotik mailing list Mikrotik@mail.butchevans.com http://www.butchevans.com/mailman/listinfo/mikrotik Visit http://blog.butchevans.com/ for tutorials related to Mikrotik RouterOS ___ Mikrotik mailing list Mikrotik@mail.butchevans.com http://www.butchevans.com/mailman/listinfo/mikrotik Visit http://blog.butchevans.com/ for tutorials related to Mikrotik RouterOS -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... John, I was supposed to send this to you directly, but here is even better. Here are the steps. First, assume the following network (forgive the poor ascii artwork): pvt 10.0.0.0/16 (RTR1)12.12.12.12--13.13.13.13(RTR2) pvt 10.1.0.0/16 I am assuming that both RTR1 and RTR2 are sharing OSPF with the rest of their private lan segments and have redistribute-default turned on (which is the source of your problem). We will first build a tunnel between RTR1 and RTR2 and assign IP space as follows: RTR1 is the server and has the user secret for RTR2 set with local-address as 172.16.0.1 and remote-address as 172.16.0.2, which means that if you look at RTR1 ip addresses (when the tunnel is connected), you will see: IP: 172.16.0.1 BROADCAST: 172.16.0.2 On RTR2, you will see: IP: 172.16.0.2 BROADCAST: 172.16.0.1 On RTR1, you need to add the broadcast address as a network in OSPF like this: /routing ospf network add network=172.16.0.2 area=backbone RTR2 would have: /routing ospf network add network=172.16.0.1 area=backbone The problem is that these 2 routers would share routes that you do NOT want to see. SO, you can just filter the routes you will insert from OSPF on these 2 routers like this: /routing filter add action=accept chain=ospf-in comment=Allow 10.x disabled=no \ prefix=10.0.0.0/8 prefix-length=8-32 add action=discard chain=ospf-in disabled=no invert-match=no These rules would cause OSPF to ONLY accept routes in the 10.x.x.x range from ANY router in the OSPF network. You would, of course, add the specific network ranges that you want to accept from either side. Your filter may (or may not) be different on the two routers. While this is not a 100% tutorial, hopefully, it will be enough to get you going. -- * Butch Evans * Professional Network Consultation* * http://www.butchevans.com/ * Network Engineering * * http://store.wispgear.net/ * Wired or Wireless Networks * * http://blog.butchevans.com/ * ImageStream, Mikrotik and MORE! * ___ Mikrotik mailing list Mikrotik@mail.butchevans.com http://www.butchevans.com/mailman/listinfo/mikrotik Visit http://blog.butchevans.com/ for tutorials related to Mikrotik RouterOS -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I can fix it by formatting the RouterBoard and reinstalling but some of this locations are a fair bit off and I would like to do something remotely. If they reboot I have to go out and format/replace it. [Mikrotik] Setting up SSL
I have scoured the internet and somehow got the SSL working but I am getting a Certificate Chain Complete? A valid Root CA Certificate could not be located, the certificate will likely display browser warnings. Error and I don't know how to create the chain. I imported all of the CSR files that I received in the zip file from network solutions. [Mikrotik] DHCPv6 PD and Radius Accounting
I have DHCPv6 PD setup and working with PPPoE. My purpose is to see if I could get the IPv6 address documented in the radius accounting. I have everything setup as far as I can tell and I am running the newest bugfix. I believe I have radius setup correctly for this to work and I have the newest Mikrotik Dictionary. It isn’t working and I don’t know what to do now... I don’t know if Mikrotik can send the IPv6 address to the Radius.
