Click on Props for the DOS icon, select Program and place a tick in "Close
on Exit"

Subject: [MP3 ENCODER] lame exit problems

Is there any way to force a DOS box close after lame has completed
encoding?
With the Windows binary, it exits properly but with the DOS one it just
says
Finished and the box stays open. So if I'm using the DOS version to encode
with say audiograbber, I can never get to the next track without manually
 closing the box.

[MP3 ENCODER] MP3 renaming/tagging util

2000-06-12 Thread Dan Bridges

I'm looking for a DOS/Win cmd line or even GUI util to do some or all of the
following:

Given: ARTIST_ -_ ALBUM_ -_ 01_ -_ TITLE.MP3
use a cmd line like RENMP3 ARTIST_ -_ ALBUM_ -_ 01_ -_ TITLE.MP3 3 4
to produce 01 - TITLE.MP3 or 01 - Title.MP3

Given: ARTIST - ALBUM - 1 - TITLE.MP3
use a cmd line like RENMP3 "ARTIST - ALBUM - 1 - TITLE.MP3" 2 3Z 4
to produce ALBUM - 01 - TITLE.MP3
where 3Z means that the 3rd term in title, if a single digit, gets a "0"
prefix

Since there are so many variations in names it may be handy to have a util
that can operate interactively and allow you to shufflle/omit individual
name components for each displayed filename and automatically move this data
into the MP#3 tag.

Cheers Dan.

[MP3 ENCODER] Compressed Wave Format

2000-04-07 Thread Dan Bridges

Just been playing around with TalkSender (www.talksender.com). It's
a free small win9x prog (Mac in beta) that records an audio and/or
text message and sends it via the internet. It produces a compressed
wav file with a max. duration of 60 secs. When I tried it, it
produced a 97 KB WAV attachment with a sampling rate of 8 KHz and a
bit rate of 13 Kbps. It was attached to a HTML message with an
animated graphic with any text component that I'd included.

Questions:
1. How common is the capability of playing compressed wave file?
2. I'd like to play around with LAME creating some and try some
different rates. How do I create a compressed wave?
3. If it's in MPEG level 2.5 format internally I presume the
receiver would need an appropriate codec to play it?
4. Any suggestions for LAME command lines for voice messages.

Re: [MP3 ENCODER] Pausing output to STDERR

2000-02-04 Thread Dan Bridges

If you use 4DOS as your command processor with win9X you can
redirect STDERR to STDOUT and thus pause it. For example ""
redirects both STDOUT STDERR while "|" will pipe both.

There are heaps of other features that still make 4DOS the best
thing for the CLI junkie under Win9x.

[MP3 ENCODER] Fraunhofer IIS codec writeup

2000-01-23 Thread Dan Bridges

Saw this posted in the rec.audio.tech NG. Found the HIFi World (UK) URL but
they don't have past issues. Can anyone who has read this issue post a
synopsis?

Cheers, Dan.
