[Mutopia-discuss] Blog post and upcoming fourth update effort
Greetings friends of the Mutopia Project, I’ve written a blog post for Scores of Beauty (http://lilypondblog.org/ http://lilypondblog.org/) on recent progress in the Mutopia Project. I will publish it after the fourth update effort gets underway. (As soon as it is officially announced. I see that Glen has started adding the issues to the tracker.) I'm hoping that my blog post may inspire some new volunteers. So for this fourth update effort, I’d like to request that current volunteers only sign up for a single work to update, at first. That will give any new volunteers a range of options to choose from if they want to participate. After a couple of weeks feel free to go ahead and sign up for more.[1] Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, -Paul [1] Although maybe it would be a good practice to only sign up for one work at a time? Basically everyone would sign up for an additional work to update only after they have submitted a pull request for the previous one. Thoughts?)___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss

I tried to edit the wiki page to add a description (including LilyPond to be found by a search), but the wiki refused to let me edit it. (It thought I was a bot.) So I've emailed the description to them. Hopefully they will add it. [Mutopia-discuss] Mutopia announcements on the LilyPond blog
Greetings Mutopia list, I had an idea. What if every month or two there was a short blog post on the LilyPond blog[1] that listed the works that had been added and updated on Mutopia site. The LilyPond blog is always looking for posts and all the good work going into Mutopia could use some acknowledgement and publicity (which might also encourage more people to get involved). (The Mutopia site lists new works, but not updated works...) Such blog posts would also be a good way to announce engraving milestones/efforts. What do you think? Thanks Javier. More below... (Sorry for resending, my previous message bounced from the mutopia-discuss list for some reason, and I tried sending a message to mutopia-discuss-ow...@mutopiaproject.org but that bounced too. So trying again with a gmail account.) [Mutopia-discuss] Clairnote sheet music library
Greetings everyone, Some of you may know about my work on Clairnote music notation (an alternative music notation system).[1] I just wanted to let you know about a sheet music library[2] that I've been working on that offers works from the Mutopia Project in Clairnote notation (converted via LilyPond/Scheme). There's a blog post with more about it if you are curious.[3] I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Mutopia Project and/or LilyPond. This little library is very fortunate to be standing on the shoulders of these projects. If there is any interest in incorporating aspects of this library into the Mutopia site at some point (like MIDI playback, perhaps?), I'd be glad to help. Many thanks, -Paul [1] http://clairnote.org/ [2] http://clairnote.org/sheet-music-library/ [3] http://clairnote.org/blog/2014/06/clairnote-sheet-music-library/ ___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss
Re: [Mutopia-discuss] Clairnote sheet music library
Hi Javier, Thanks for the feedback. I see what you mean about the attribution statement. It's a tricky balance between giving credit to the Mutopia Project and the original typesetter, while also not implying that these are Mutopia Project publications. I'll give it some more thought and see what I can come up with. Any suggestions are welcome. By the way, I really like your initiative to typeset the works that are downloaded the most from IMSLP that are not yet available in Mutopia. It's great that they were willing to share their download numbers. I'd like to help with that but my plate is already quite full for the foreseeable future. Maybe at some point I will be able to find some time. All my best, -Paul On Jun 11, 2014, at 2:48 PM, Javier Ruiz-Alma jav...@ruiz-alma.com wrote: Hi Paul, Kudos on the library. There's a lot to like about its design. Simplicity, highlights each entry, filtering with auto-refresh, very intuitive and functional. The midi playback control on the sidebar is a nice compromise. On the attribution statement, I do find some wordsmithing still advisable, especially the opening statement Sheet music from the Mutopia Project... The license allows posting/transmitting/printing these independently, and without the benefit of context your website provides, I fear this reads as if these are a publication of the Mutopia Project, when publishing credit should point to you without much ambiguity.
