[NTG-context] CtxTools problem

2007-05-03 Thread Keith McKay
I'm having a bit of a problem when I run

texmfstart ctxtools --update

The output is given below.

texmfstart ctxtools --update
CtxTools | updating F:/isoimage/usr/local/context/tex/texmf-local
CtxTools | fetching cont-tmf.zip
CtxTools | extracting cont-tmf.zip
CtxTools | fatal error, make sure that you have 'unzip' in your path
CtxTools | unable to extract cont-tmf.zip
Exit code: 0

I'm using the standalone version on WindowsXP.
I use 7-Zip as my zip file tool and have that in my path. I set this
through windows control panelSystemAdvancedEnvironment variables. I'm
beginning to wonder if make sure that you have 'unzip' in your path means
something else?

Any tips?

I have found both versions on the net, but as RA* and SRA* are only
scaled versions of the A* papers (5% and 15% larger), I think the
definition should match the one of A*.

As A3 is portrait,
   \definepapersize [A3] [\c!width=297mm,\c!height=420mm]
I would also expect RA and SRA to be portrait as well and not landscape,
ConTeXt has
  \definepapersize [RA3] [\c!width=305mm,\c!height=430mm]
  \definepapersize [SRA3] [\c!width=320mm,\c!height=450mm]

From that point of view, the definition is correct.

use Hans' minimal context distribution on Windows. Then I download a

Even better: maybe Hans could rename this file already into unzip.exe in

Re: [NTG-context] Latin Modern vs Ancient Greek module

2007-05-03 Thread Alan Bowen

The problem (see below) is solved by removing 3 lines
\usetypescript[lmodern][\defaultencoding]
\starttypescript[serif][default][size]
\stoptypescript

But I introduced these lines because, some time ago, I read in some
manual that to get hanging punctuation and so forth with a font, it
was necessary to invoke hanging punctuation before installing the font,

say, by writing
\usetypescript[serif,sans,mono,mm][hanging][normal]
\setupalign[hz,hanging]
\setupfootnotes[align={hz,hanging}]
—which meant that Latin Modern had to be reinstalled. This worked
well for quite some time, but is it now no longer necessary to do
this? My test document does seem to have hanging punctuation without
re-installing Latin Modern, but I might be wrong about that.

Re: [NTG-context] Wrong SRA3 papersize ?

2007-05-03 Thread Willi Egger
Hi,

this is an interesting discussion. I admit, that I do not have the
ultimate knowledge. Nevertheless I doubt whether the A3 format has to
be considered portrait.

Consider A4 which is portrait because of the grain direction
(Laufrichtung) in the height. Otherwise A3 is two A4 and hence the
grain direction is in the shorthand. - Generally speaking the
graindirection is in the direction of the longer edge in all A-
foomats with even numbers, including A0. - Looking in this way at RA3
and SRA3 I would expect that the graindirection is also on the short
side. Therefore The definition shoud be width=305 and height=430 mm
and width=320 and height=450mm respectively.

So Luigi you learned determination of the grain direction in Epen,
please look this up in your two blocks!

Kind regards Willi, the bookbinder ;-)

I have found both versions on the net, but as RA* and SRA* are only
scaled versions of the A* papers (5% and 15% larger), I think the
definition should match the one of A*.

 As A3 is portrait,
\definepapersize [A3] [\c!width=297mm,\c!height=420mm]
I would also expect RA and SRA to be portrait as well and not
 landscape,
 ConTeXt has
   \definepapersize [RA3] [\c!width=305mm,\c!height=430mm]
   \definepapersize [SRA3] [\c!width=320mm,\c!height=450mm]

From that point of view, the definition is correct.

Nice, thanks!

Nevertheless, here a little feature request:
\cap{this is cap \unsetcap{this is normal} this is cap again}

\nocap ... for example

\def\test
 {\cap{This is cap \nocap{this is no cap} this is cap}}
\starttext

{\bf \test}

{\ss \test}

\stoptext

[NTG-context] mactex

2007-05-03 Thread Andrea Valle

Hi,

I was taking a look at the wiki.
Personally I was not satisfied by the infos on context for macosx.
Having a mactel everything worked in a breeeze with mactex

http://www.tug.org/mactex/

So I was starting to put it on the top of the page

http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Mac_Installation

as the actual simplest way to have ConTeXt, just before GW (which is,
helas, unmantained).

Database being locked, I thought it was more fruitful to ask the
macosx users opinion on the subject

Am I missing something?

Best

I did this interview where I just mentioned that I read Foucault. Who
doesn't in university, right? I was in this strip club giving this
guy a lap dance and all he wanted to do was to discuss Foucault with
me. Well, I can stand naked and do my little dance, or I can discuss
Foucault, but not at the same time; too much information.

I hope I will get the new (wiki) server up and running

kind to come back to it tonight.

Thanks for your patience

Maybe there is a clean solution.

Try this:

\def\test
  {\cap{This is cap \nocap{THIS is no cap} this is cap}}

THIS gets lower cased...
