[NTG-context] sections in mkiv

2009-07-18 Thread Mojca Miklavec
Hello,

out of curiosity I have tried the latest current. Is the command
\setupheadnumber[section][6]
now invalid on purpose or is there a simple way to fix it?

One more problem:

\setuphead[section][textstyle=\ss\bfc] % combined with numbercommand=
\setuphead[subsection][style=\ss\bfb]
\starttext
\section{abcdef}
\subsection{abcdef}
\stoptext

Subsection gets typeset with \bfc while in mkii it uses \bfb.

i dunno, i see the command but never tested if it works (might not be
adapted to some changes); do you need it urgently?

hm, needs checking but i think that i changed the default chain a bit
... this is debatable

No, luckily the document works with mkii :)

 One more problem:

I don't claim that the way I use it is the right one.

This is just my guess why it happens: usually textstyle and style
would exclude one another (no reason why one would use both for the
same section). The problem is that textstyle is inherited from section
to subsection, and then subsection has both style and textstyle and
textstyle takes precedence over style.

A human being would expect the latest settings style= of subsection
to be obeyed, not the inherited conflicting value, though this might
be a bit tricky to change.

the fact that her garden will have problems.

The version on garden should be working now. Now --context=beta
(default) and --context=current should give you the same version of
ConTeXt and after a lng time current version in minimals works
again :) :) :)

I took the trunk version for Windows since beta-0.42.0 is not yet
available on Akira's site. I hope that's OK, but I didn't test it.

Re: [NTG-context] Two newbie questions about Texfont

2009-07-18 Thread Wolfgang Schuster

3. I ran mtxrun --script fonts --list --pattern=*stone*.
I got about twenty lines of output in three columns. Here is an
example:

stonesans StoneSans c:/fonts/ITC Stone Sans/SS__.AFM

So far, so good. Now, I want to use this font and you included a
link to a Wiki article. This article says I have to use a
typescript. The example typescript from the Wiki uses the
\definetypeface command. I searched everywhere for a good
description of this command, but wasn't able to find one,
unfortunately. Using the example from the Wiki:

\definetypeface [Bonum] [rm] [serif] [bonum] [default]

how would I use this command to be able to use my Stone Sans font
from the mtxrun output? In the [Bonum] example I can't find a
reference to a font file of the type c:\fonts\etc.

The \definetypeface command alone is not enough, you have to tell
ConTeXt
which of the fonts should be used for the upright, italic, bold etc.
style.

You can find such a example at the end of the page -
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Fonts_in_LuaTex#Example

It's a good exercise to write a complete typescripts once by hand but
when
you want a simpler way to use font with LuaTeX you can use the
simplefonts

module, it hides the complete typescript mechanism from the user and you
have to know only a few commands, the following code should be enough to
use your font in a document.

\usemodule[simplefonts] % make sure the module is available on your
system

\setmainfont[StoneSans] % create a typescript for 'StoneSans' and
enable the font

\starttext

This is a dummy text which is hopefully typeset with the StoneSans
font, you
could also switch the style to {\it italic}, {\bf bold} or {\bi
bolditalic}.

\stoptext

btw, Hans, context should give an option to iterate through all the
 chapters/sections to do something tricky.
using \chaptercounter is a really bad idea (the materials should
follow strict rules, like cannot jump from chap 1 to chap 3).
I think with mkiv it is able to achieve that.

 question:

I want to show toc before each chapter, and the toc only shows the
 following chapter name in red.
 How can I do that?
e.g. show the following before chapter 3

 % A Page
 Chap1
 sec 1 sec 2 sec 3
 Chap2
 sec 1 sec 2 sec 3
 Chap 3  %in red
 sec 1 sec 2 sec 3 %in Red
 Chap4

 Chapter 3 % title
