Re: ISS and NT password crap
I know exactly what your problem is. The NT security on the directory does not have the IUSR_computername (anonymous) account with any security context, or if the account is listed, it does not have any privs. If this fails, then verify the webserver properties to see that the anonymous account is actually IUSR_computername. The easy way to test this out is when it prompts you for a username/password, try the admin account and password. I sometimes remove the anonymous account to directories that I want to have added security on. When a user calls up a webpage, IIS prompts them for the security context with which to execute the page. If they don't have an account, then they can't see the data. RE: ISS and NT password crap
Usually IE (and I am assuming that's what you're using to connect to whatever site you're talking about) prmpts for a password when it cannot detect that the site is part of the local intranet (again assuming that it is in your case as you give no info) You have 2 options - make sure your TCP/IP / DNS / WINS / networking is all correct domain-wise OR go into IE, tools, internet options, Security, Local Intranet, Sites, Advanced, and add the URL to the zone. No more password prompts.
