Changing Speed without Losing Compression

2007-04-27 Thread Sharon Lash
I want to know if this is possible? I have a file both in ogg and mp3
formats. Unfortunately, the speed is a little too fast. I can't stand it; I
want to fix it. I do have goldwave; however, I know I'll mess up the sound
because of the conversion. I don't know much about ogg file conversion.
Actually, I was hoping I could change the speed on one of the files without
changing the compression. Is this possible with any particular program? If
so, please elaborate. Thanks very much.

Winamp Scripts

2007-04-27 Thread Dana S. Leslie
Can anyone send me copies of the scripts for Winamp that come with JAWS Version
8.0.1177 Unicode. I overwrote mine with another set that isn't working as well
for me. I could simply re-install JAWS. But I don't want to disturb all the
customizations to other programs I've made.

Thanks.

Dana- Did you install the scripts into the All Users folder? If not,
just go into your user name and delete the scripts you don't want. Then
the default ones in All Users will take effect. If you've really
overwritten them, I'll send them.

Hi,
The main menu should come up. You should land on the Files option. Press
select or right arrow and you should hear your directories voiced
however you set that up.

Re: Sound Forge With Window-Eyes

2007-04-27 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi
DC6 is probably the leader - I use it a lot. It can also be helped by the
front end interface called Audio Mentor which simplifies the process and
uses the relevant filters from DC6 to make cleaning of tapes, LPs 78s etc
easier.
I use it on whole files as I've never found navigating parts of the file
easy. Has anyone been able to do so by keypress e.g. moving about the file
forward and back, selecting areas. Otherwise it's range of filters, etc. are
excellnt.
Take care.

It's audio editing software. I like it a lot, though some on this list
 feel
 that it isn't accessible.

I perform Audio Restoration on records and cassettes before transferring
them to CD. As this is what I do professionally, I want to perform such
tasks both quickly and with a level of precision that customers have a
 right
to expect. Will that aspect of Sound Forge work efficiently with
 Window-eyes
without additional set files? I am now using GoldWave and DC6 to
 perform
such tasks and need to be sure that Sound Forge will increase speed
andefficiency before going to the expense of buying it. Any thoughts?

I use Sound Forge every day with Window Eyes and no set files. It
works fine for me but it depends on what you want to do. Some of the
dialogues I can't make any sense out of. Most of the things I can't
 use
 I
 don't want to use anyway.

Re: Changing Speed without Losing Compression

2007-04-27 Thread jaffar
Hi Sharen. The best program that would change the speed of any song without
affecting your file too much is adobe audition. Sound Forge and Goldwave, i
find, will leave to much undesirable art effects. Also, i wouldn't advise
you to change the speed of your music file other than if it was in wav
format because files like ogg or mp3 would already have suffered from art
effects as a result of conversions from wav. Cheers!

Subject: Changing Speed without Losing Compression

I want to know if this is possible? I have a file both in ogg and mp3
 formats. Unfortunately, the speed is a little too fast. I can't stand it;
 I
want to fix it. I do have goldwave; however, I know I'll mess up the sound
because of the conversion. I don't know much about ogg file conversion.
Actually, I was hoping I could change the speed on one of the files
 without
changing the compression. Is this possible with any particular program? If
so, please elaborate. Thanks very much.

Sound forge Studio 8

2007-04-27 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi
I have a few queries about Sound Forge Studio 8 - I see it's available on the
net from £23 upwards, QVC at £45 this weekend. I'm used to using Adobe Audition
and therefore only see this as an extra program - it has been advertised as
cleaning and amending the audio track on a video and this would be my main
interest as once it is amended it can be linked again with the video (correct
me if I'm wrong)

1. How accessible is this program - does it have the same interface as the Full
program and do the jaws scripts work?
2. Is it easy to navigate through a file - does it use standard windows
functions for selecting etc.?
3. Will it tackle a variety of video fil formats, eg. avi, mpg, or does it just
work on DV camera tapes?
4 How good are the effects, especially in noise reduction and enhancement?
5. Does the full program deal with video in the way outlined above?

If you have any other comments I would appreciate them.
Thanks.
