Its been a while since I've played with Goldwave as I prefer to use Amadeus Pro on the Mac but it doesn't hurt to have fingers in the Windows pie smile. Anyway to cut a long story short I was given a job where noise reduction in parts was required as part of the audio editing, I can handle this stuff quite easily with Amadeus Pro but as I'd never given the noise reduction function in Goldwave a go before I thought that the ideal opportunity was presenting itself. To be frank I was amazed at the quality of the result I got for a first try and I'm prepared to stand by the claim I'm about to make and that is the Noise reduction functions of Goldwave rival those which are part of more expensive products such as Sound Forge. Furthermore, the sections in the manual describing how the noise reduction system in Goldwave works are incredibly well written without boring anyone to sleep so all one has to do if they want to try the noise reduction function is to read for a minute or so and the have the basic knowledge required to get started. So what's Goldwave worth these days, $59.00 or thereabouts? Damn good value for money and I'd almost be tempted to say its a Giveaway! when one also considers its many built-in powerful functions and the fact that the author has gone out of his way to make this product accessible. Re: regarding soundcards and hi-fi's
Hello Dan, I have my computer and stereo system hooked up like that right now. But only, I'm using an old Fisher 500-c stereo receiver that has vacuum tubes in it that was made in 1963. My speakers are comprised of 2 Jensen P12N alnico drivers in each cab that are crossed over to 20 HZ for woofers and a Jensen 8QR alnico driver in each cab that are crossed over to 60 HZ for mid ranges and 4 horns in each cab that are also crossed over to 256 HZ for the high end. I get pretty close to studio quality sound from this set up, and it sounds grate! I did once have a pare of 32 watt mono block tube amps that I built from a set of S-5 Electronic kits, but I lost them in a tornado a copal of years ago right along with my house that was also destroyed in the tornado as well. But the good news is, I am in a brand new house. So I was able to reconfigure my whole system to sound like I once did before. My best regards. Re: connecting?
Hello Curtis, The answer to that question on both accounts, is no. Here is the reason why. Your USB headphone microphone combo is using a digital to analog converter. I done some explaining a while back on this list to a gentleman that wanted to hook his stereo amp up to his computer. But in order for that to work, you will need a digital to analog converter that uses some kind of USB inter face. But as far as switching that to strait analog to use with a Victor Stream, You would have to work it the other way around. Instead of being digital to analog, you would have to go analog to digital. As far as I know of, nobody has come up with a unit that will do that. Hope this helps. My best regards. Hello Howard, Yes, you can buy a stereo receiver that has a digital input. But don't go to places like Wal-Mart and or RadioShack to look for this kind of a beast, because you won't find it there. Re: microphone input to computer
Hello Howard, That idea will work but, the cassette deck will have to be on record in order for it to work. But now, the draw back with your Sound Max intigrated sound card is, you can't monictor the recording while it's being made. Just something for you to think about. But if you really to record sounds in stereo, a 6 channel mike mixer will do the trick for you. Just plug the mikes in to it and pan one to the right and the other one to the left. But the mixer will have to be pluged in to your line in on your sound card. Again, just something for you to think about. Would anyone be intersted in me uploading them? there are 3 levels, beginner, medium, and advanced. They start out kinda slow, but he goes though a lot of what this editer can do, and shows off some pretty kool 3rd party plugins. I'd just toss them up, but I no longer have a beautiful 2 meg upstream, and have to share this connection, so don't upload things unless there's interest. let me know if you all would be interested in this. msn bellevue@gmail.com skype lord_of_beer last fm http://last.fm/lord_of_beer - ` To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org __ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 5365 (20100813) __ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com Johnny Chilelli Craftsman Certified Piano Tuner / Technician since 1978 Don't wait another minute! RE: recording with imic using a microphone
Hi, I got the same thing with Samsung G-track device. I replaced its USB cable for another one and it corrected the thing. You can also try to lower sample rate and see if it helps a little. I believe, I saw on Google something about some USB mic with special feature to reduce/eliminate any noise generated by its USB cable but cannot recall the name of this mic. Yeah, I only asked because if they did work with stereo mikes, this would be a very interesting way to hook up an Audio-technica AT822, or an ATR6250 to your PC. I mean, yeah you can use the eighth intch jack, but this way seems more direct to me. I don't know maybe it's just me. You know what else would be some what interesting, if yould could have an XLR jack right on the PC it self.
