Getting Rid Of Those FSK files In SoundForge
Since I don't do this often I have forgotten how to get rid of those bothersome SFK files while in SoundForge. Can someone refresh me? I searched through the menus and can't seem to find the setting. It is one of those "set it and forget it" things. LOL! -- Dave Marthouse dmartho...@gmail.com
Removing SFK Files In SoundForge

Question On Soundforge
I've been a happy SoundForge user since 2002. Recently I had a partial system crash and had to reconfigure and reinstall the program. Everything is working fine but for one small but annoying problem. How do I get rid of the files with the SFK extension that are saved with the conclusion of every project? They are saved along with my final mixes. I know there was a way to do this but since it literally has been a few years since I had to reinstall Sound Forge I have forgotten how. I've looked through the menus and it isn't obvious. It is one of those (set it and forget it) functions. I set it and forgot it a few years ago. Can someone on the list fill me in on how to do this?? Deleting those SFK files gets old real fast. -- Dave Marthouse dmartho...@gmail.com
Adobe Audition

Free Donload Manager Downloading Audio
I would like to contact anyone who is using Free Download Manager for downloading audio feeds for broadcasts or netcasts. I've got a question regarding getting the program to download feeds 24/7. Using the scheduler I got it downloading the necessary feeds for a 24 hour period. But after that the download just stops. I can't seem to find the place in the scheduler that tells the software to keep downloading the feeds automatically. I am using version 2.0 as the latest version is completely broken as far as accessibility is concerned. Any help would be appreciated. -- Dave Marthouse dmartho...@gmail.com

Speaker Feedback
I am assisting a friend with his Windows7 machine. In an attempt to make Jaws play nice with VOIP programs I had to direct the sound card output from the system defaults to . When I turned up the microphone I received feedback through the speakers. How can I mute the feedback without muting Jfw or other sounds? Yep, another Digital Radio but this one is certainly one of the best I've heard since I started using DAB+ radio sets more than 3 years ago. Added to the great sound is the great price you should be able to find this radio for, I found it for under a hundred Australian dollars. So why is it so cheap? Because the radio sports an older style IOS dock which is no longer supported by the newer Apple IOS devices. This shouldn't present too much of a problem, if you have a device that uses the Lightning connector then you can purchase an adapter or forget about a docking an IOS device completely but whatever takes your fancy this radio still remains in the bargain basket. The Pure Contour is in the shape of a semi circle with speakers either side of a front panel. At the top of the panel is the very large display and below this appears to be a blank piece of plastic but its far from blank, if the left-hand side edge is pushed then the panel rotates 180 degrees to reveal an IOS 30 pin dock connector, press the right-and end of the dock and the Dock spins back to reveal the blank panel, this has to be one of the neatest and koolest docking arrangements I've ever seen on any device sporting an IOS dock. There are few buttons on the radio itself and all are located on the top. A remote controller unit is supplied with the radio which contains controls for all functions. Losing the remote control isn't likely given that a magnetic storage cradle is provided for the controller at the back of the radio. The Pure Contour has very nice crisp treble with good mid range and bass performs strongly thanks to the built-in sub-woffer unit. A sub-woofer in such a small unit comes as a big surprise but its certainly there and does its job quite well. Plenty of volume can be had from this radio given its 10 watts RMS per channel amplifiers so more than enough power to fill a small room. The unit supports both DAB/DAB+ and FM bands as well as the IOS Dock and an Aux-in facility for external devices. A coxial digital out and headphones socket are provided on the back of the radio next to the power input socket. I've not tried setting alarms on this radio yet - it has two of those - but I can tell you that programming presets and so forth is a breeze, just use the up/down buttons to browse to the station you want - using the select button to tune - and then hold down the Favourites button for 5 seconds. Press the Favourites button on its own, use up/down and then the select button to tuen to the selected Favourite in the list. The radio runs on AC power only thanks to a 2.5 Amp 12 Volt output power adapter supplied and will not work on batteries so its designed to be used on a desk, bedside table, kitchen and so on. Is there anything I don't like about this radio? Ok Dane I understand. I'm not in the UK. I'm in the US and I'm academically interested in digital radio. The system we use here in the US is known as IBOC (in band on channel). I've upgraded to Windows8.1 from Windows8. The upgrade went smoothly. There is one related problem. GWConnect won't work with Windows8.1. I am now attempting to use the so called Modern Metro version of Skype native to Windows8.1. I was able to sign in. I see my contacts but can't find a method of calling them. RE: re plug in chainer
I first of all must admit that I haven't read the SoundForge 10 manual but by the process of deduction I am going to take a stab on what the Plugin Chainer does. I assume that it will run a specified set of plugins in a row as indicated by instructions from the user. In other words if you have to do loads of the same repetitive things to a bunch of files all in the same way you set up a chain of plugins to do this, compression, reverb, normalization etc. I hope this helps. You can just use Stationplaylist Studio for that. The program consists of two packages. Stationplaylist studio is the play out system while Stationplaylist creator is the scheduling system. Accessible HD Radio
Hi Gang, I got the message below from the blind hams list. As this has to do with an accessible broadcast HD radio I thought I'd post it here. Dave Several months ago, someone on this list asked about an accessible HD Radio. I replied that such a unit was on the horizon, but that I could not disclose what I knew about it at the time. That was because I was part of a volunteer advisory team from the International Association of Audio Information Services, IAAIS, the organization of radio reading service professionals, which was working with Dice Electronics toward the release of this receiver. Below is information about the iTR-100A Vision Free HD Radio from the Dice Electronics Website: This unit began shipping last week, but I strongly suspect quantities are limited. Important Notes: 1. The accessible model is the iTR-100A. 2. The receiver also works for AM HD, although the information below doesn't mention that fact. 3. The radio reading service feature referenced below is *not the 67 or 92 KHZ analogue FM sub-carrier. It is a new digital authorization scheme to instruct an HD receiver to receive a digital Radio Reading Service signal. All I can say about this feature is that it will be tested in selected radio reading service stations soon. You will find the information which appears below my signature, along with accessible downloadable documentation, and ordering information for the radio in the iTR-100A link near the top of the Dice Electronics website. http://www.diceelectronics.com Mike Duke, K5XU, Director, Radio Reading Service of Mississippi Based on the popular DICE iTR-100 tabletop HD Radio(tm), this unit was designed with special consideration for the visually impaired. Practical voice prompts and audible feedback have been added which makes operating the iTR-100A simple and intuitive. Each button press is followed by an audio queue to help guide the user through actions such as station browsing or setting up the alarm clock. All buttons and knobs are arranged and spaced apart with ease of use in mind. The compact size of the unit makes it easy to enjoy the enhanced noise-free sound quality of HD Radio or RRS (Radio Reading Service) at home or in your office. iTR-100A Vision Free HD Radio Features Audio Feedback: Voice announcements are made to guide the user through each button press. Radio station information, time and settings are all assisted by vocal queues. RRS Capable: Register the radio's serial number with a local Radio Reading Service provider to access the RRS content. Alarm Clock: Announces the current time on wake and begins to play preset radio station. Access to Multicast Channels: Access more content with HD Radio's Multicast channels. These are HD2 and HD3 channels found on HD Radio frequencies. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Re: Which sound editor to use?
I have been using SoundForge6 as my editor of choice for commercial broadcast work for the last few years. I find it very much up to the task of producing broadcast grade high quality production. With that said you must have the Jim Snowbarger jaws scripts to take full advantage of the SoundForge feature set. The scripts are available at www.snowmanradio.com. It is worth the $30 cost of the scripts. I haven't played with GoldWave much but I've heard equally fine work produced by people who are more familiar with it. I've looked at the features in subsequent SoundForge upgrades and have found that they don't seem to be worth the upgrade price for what you get. I hope this helps. . On-line Music Databases And Tagging Question
Hi All, We are undergoing a format change and management is bringing in the Halland library of music. It is a throwback to the days before such things as mp3s and meta tags were used in the industry. The files are in mp2 format. This is no problem as our automation system will play it. The problem is in the fact that all the music is titled with an alpha numeric title such as sp1000.mp2. The library comes with a printout of the titles and artists with the alpha numeric data associated with them. Is there an on-line method of matching these untitled and un tagged files to the correct information. I am attempting to avoid the loathsome chore of typing all the artist and title information in renaming the files from alpha numeric to there correct names. Any information would be appreciated. Mp3 Meta Data Question
Hi List, I have a question regarding meta tags in mp3 files. What is the logic to have all that information such as artist and title embedded in the files when artist and title are present in the standard artist and title ei: the file's name? I'm just curious. I would think that with the information in the file names the tag data would be unnecessary and it would make things simpler with out all those tagging issues etc. This is just one of those questions I am rather academically curious about.
