Sound Forge dependence on quality of PC sound card
Hello. using Sound forge pro 10 on a PC with a poor sound card/audio driver. If I play any music on this PC with the inferior sound card/driver, the sound quality is inferior through speakers and headphones. I've sound forge 10 installed on this PC. I also have another PC with a much better sound card/driver where the sounds/music sound just fine. If I use sound forge to do some audio engineering on some mp3 music on the PC with the inferior sound, will the resultant music I get after the SF audio engineering be inherently inferior such that when I transfer and play the engineered music on the good sound computer, it will sound poor there also? Do sound forge results depend upon the quality of the sound card ? To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Software audio equalizer for Windows7
Hello gang. My new Win7 laptop's audio driver has its deficiencies in that the sound quality coming out of the headphones, laptop speakers as well as through my upper end audio DAC and home is consistently inferior. through troubleshooting I found that I need to adjust the amplitude of a certain audio frequency band via a graphic equalizer. I do not want to get a hardware equalizer. Can you recommend a software equalizer that once adjusted to my preference effects the audio coming out of all the 3 outputs mentioned above: headphone jack, laptop speakers and home stereo? Q about the trim feature in GoldWave
Hello gang. IN GW I have a mp3 file open. I know if I drop a start marker say 10 seconds into the mp3 file and hit CTRL T then GW trims off those first 10 seconds of the mp3 file. How to join multiple mp3 files with, repeat with, cross fade control
Windows7 relevant answers please. Hello list. I am aware via this list and other sources of a few diff programs accessible to screen readers that can take many mp3 files and join them all together in a line to create a much longer single mp3 file. But none of these have any cross fade control and hence result in a noticeable silence of a few seconds at the end of one original mp3 and the beginning of the next in the final appended file. I would like to append multiple mp3 files where I could also set cross fade time of a second, for example which pretty much removes the silence and makes the transition from mp3 to the next, in the appended larger mp3, transparent or un-noticeable. Any suggestions for such a screen reader accessible program?? Does this paid program call mp3 joiner do it? RE: Shout out to blind people to use the Harman Kardon HK 3490 or 3390 stereo receiver
Honestly I first used specs and features and reviews like the one I shared here to narrow down my option to the 3490. Once I narrowed it down then I started looking at its accessibility. I used the following tools to confirm I could use it fully once a sighted person connected it up for me. 1. Ask this list if someone owned the 3390 or the 3490 and their experience with the buttons and knobs and such. 2. Call up and email as well, the Harman Kardon tech support folk who were very helpful in describing the unit buttons and knobs to me after I informed them I am blind. those 2 were adequate. Also on this page are bunch of diff genres of metal that one click on like, power metal, speed metal etc. if you click on any of these it just takes you to yet another page where really the only option I can see is to select and click a specific band and then last.fm plays music from just that band. Any way to record audio of a internet stream without using my PC's sound card?
Hello. I am aware of a few accessible programs that record streaming audio (even the audio component of any streaming video) but these all record only what the sound card of my PC processes and outputs via the PC speakers or headphones. However the sound card on PC's and laptops are really limited in their ability to process and output high quality audio like an audiophile like me prefers. Is there any accessible software that records the audio stream bypassing the sound pcard and picking up the raw digital data of the stream and recording it as high quality mp3 or wav? While shopping around for high perf Usb cables to connect my USB dac to my laptop's Usb with the end goal to connect my DAC via RCA to my home receiver, I find some high perf USB cables being described as providing 'neutral sound'. Even if an online service converted youtube videos to 300kbps bit rate quality it won't mean anything if the sound on the original youtube video /audio is of a lower quality. the only way to tell or guess the bit rate of the sound of youtube videos is to listen to them on a nice pair of headphones or home stereo and then decide if that quality is acceptable to you. there is a huge fallacy in assuming a 300kbps mp3 is going to sound better than a 128kbps mp3. by definition,mp3 is a lossy format that degrades the sound from a lossless WAV or flac format. RE: Separating Speech Synthesizer from Music and Streams
I'm a hard core audiophile and proud audio tech geek for home stereos/speakers. My last 10yrs of experience has convinced me to continue using an external USB DAC to pull raw digital data of any sound from the laptop/net book/PC to feed it to the D/A USB DAC and then pull it out of the DAc as analog stereo RCA and feed it to the stereo amp/receiver. If u shop for USB dacs you will see them mostly costing between $300 and 1000. However being the audiophile geek I am, I've found the Peachtree DacIt costing $450 to be the best in perf and price combo. Human ears can't detect the diff really between the $1k DAC's and the $400 range ones. there is another USB DAC the 1300SE from stereo-link.com costing $300 which I've been using for last 10yrs until 2mo ago when I switched to the DacIT from Peachtree. reason is that Stereo-link themselves admit as my experience shows that with Win7 computers there exists a 50% chance it won't work with your PC due to some unresolvable signal degradation issue. Your second Q: I pipe JFW as well as all other sounds/music/streams through my DAC/home stereo when I plug the DAC USb in to my computer. If u want u can go to the JFW window under utilities and then sound card and select the sound card u want JFW to talk through. I don't prefer this as when I'm playing my music out loud I can't hear JFW if I'm piping JFW via my PC speakers. good luck! Since I am looking at this for playback and not recording, I am not concerned about inputs but I'd like to have reasonable output quality. Therefore, I have two questions. Does anyone have good or bad experiences with USB sound cards? Need help fixing this WMP12 problem on my new Win7 laptop
Hello gang. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this WMp12 problem on my Win7 laptop? I recently bought a new Win7 laptop with Windows Media Player 12 preinstalled. I'm able to play mp3 files on the laptop SSD just fine using WMP12. About 10% of the time though, when doing this, Stops playing in the first second or so with an error. Hi list, By chance, does anybody have version 3.7 or there abouts of reaper? It certainly is not available from the web site as far as I can establish. My understanding is that this works considerably better with the REA screen reader plug in which rumour has it, is not being further developed to work with version 4.x. Rather the developer appears to have disappeared if that makes sense. Maybe another enthusiast will pick it up, got to be some dollars in it. Thanks for reading. RE: YouTube
Don't follow your logic doing the stuff with the browsing history and all. In my recent experience I used (unsuccessfully) a web site to rip the audio off a youtube posting and for some reason unknown to me all flash on any web page stopped having any sound. Note all flash not just the flash videos on youtube. In each case I could see the video was playing by the percent counter which keeps on increasing as the video plays. Finally I found that flash had been muted on my computer. There was an icon on the system tray that said 'flash mute'. And it was checked. I had to get sighted assistance to even tell me the check box on this icon was checked and she unchecked it for me. that immediately solved the problem. So first, pl check if you can't hear flash videos only on youtube or also at any other website. This will help u isolate the problem to either just youtube flash or not. Next look around on the system tray our via the 'add/remove programs' list ( I use Windows 7) to spot anything that suggests flash mute and uncheck that box. Good luck and let us know what you find.--- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Randy Tijerina Sent: Friday, January 27, 2012 3:36 PM To: Pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: YouTube friends, I'll try to describe what is going on with me and YouTube. Alt shift T and alt shift E stopped working in GoldWave 5.65
Hello. Was using GW 5.58 for a while and after loading/opening any song and hitting alt shift T or alt shift E JAWS 13 would tell me the total file length and the elapsed time while playing the song in GoldWave. However after updating to GoldWave 5.65, alt shift t just takes me to the tool menu which is completely diff behavior from what I want. Similar weird behavior with alt shift E where it does not tell me the elapsed time anymore. How do I fix this and why is it occurring once I updated to 5.65? I'd like to stay with 5.65 and not 5.66 as I think I've heard some accessibility issues with 5.66 for JAWS users. Anyway pl offer solution options for 5.65. Thanks much in advance!olutio To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Gold Wave: Changing amount of bass /treble boost in Gold Wave batch converter
Hello. When I load a single mp3 file in Gold Wave, then go to effects- frequency- equalizer and select any of the presets such as bass boost or reduce treble, then I'm able to change the decibel change for each of the frequencies presented there and change the original song according to my customized bass boost or whatever. However when I load a whole bunch of files in the batch converter mode and want to say, boost the bass of all of them by the same increments, I do not get an option in the batch converter window to customize the levels of change for each of the frequencies. How do I do this ? Prateek.h e To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
How do I get Sound Forge to recognize compatible 3rd party plug-in?
Hello. I have successfully installed Sound Forge Pro V10C (latest) and a compatible 3rd party plug in which works with SF according to the plug in makers. The plug-in is repli-Q by Bias. When I open SF and look under the process menu, I don't see repli-q show up there. What is the process for SF to recognize and then show me the plug-in within the SF menu so I can actually use it? thx.e Prateek To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org
Eq spectral matching with Sound Forge
Hello. thinking of buying and installing Sound Forge Pro V10 or V10c on my Win7 PC. My main intent is to do Eq spectral matching of a whole bunch of mp3 songs I have acquired over time from diff sources so that the treble, mids and base sound same or at least similar. I've already normalized the volumes. Does Sound Forge Pro 10 come pre built with the eq spectral matching option in the list of 'processes'? Or will I need to buy a special plug in to do this? Hoping Pro 10 with its hefty price tag already is able to do Eq spectral matching and I don't have to plonk yet another $150 or so for a 3rd party eq spectral matching plug in such as 'Repli-Q' from 'Bias'. How do I reset my laptop sound card default properties?
Hello. While setting up the software called Tunebite' (legal, so pl let us stay focused on my problem) , to remove DRM content from a book I own on my authorized PC, it messed up some thing in my laptop so that now the sound quality through my laptop or any other speakers is markedly deteriorated. Same experience when I connect my laptop to my stereo through this hardware (purchased from 3rd party) which actually bypasses the sound card to send the digital signals to my stereo amp directly via USB. I mention this for trouble shooting as this should take sound card out of the loop. However, this is my analysis and I just want to set my laptop sound to whatever default quality it came with. This is an IBM Z60T think pad purchased very recently.
