Re: folks..may i ask a really dumb question?
hey randy! there are lots of mixing consoles out there, and mostly they look the same, but well a normal mixing console, can have up to 32 faders, but that's a 32 channel mixer, smile. and the mixingconsole itself has some knobs for panning, and Equalizers and so on. but it al depends on what you like to have, and the mixing consoles can also have different prises, depending on which kind of mixer you would like to have. I recommend that you might go to a music store in your area, and ask them to have a look at a mixing board or console as we say as well, smile. but for you as a station playlist user, if you have a low budjet, you can use the station playlist it self. I do that, I don't need a mixing console for that, well, I can use one, but then I have to fiddle around with other programs and so on, so I'm satisfied with what I have so far. Re: StationPlaylist Studio add-on for NVDA: version 3.3 and 4.0-devsnapshot are now available
hi Joseph! thanks so much for this wonderful info, a quick question, does this version 3.3 also work with SPL version 4.33? I only have that one version myself. Regards, Jörgen Hansson! tel: +46 703601296 Web: www.jorgenhansson.com Skype: djtropical4532 -Ursprungligt meddelande- From: Joseph Lee Sent: Saturday, November 22, 2014 9:53 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: StationPlaylist Studio add-on for NVDA: version 3.3 and 4.0-devsnapshot are now available Dear broadcasters using Studio 5.00 and later, I'm delighted to announce the release of SPL add-on for NVDA version 3.3. This maintenance release includes one bug fix and a little surprise (I think it is actually a huge one). In addition, for our adventurers, the second November 2014 snapshot of version 4.0-dev is also available for testing (read below for more information). To read more about version 3.3 and to download the add-on , go to: http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/StationPlaylist.en.html What's new in add-on 3.3: * For users of SAM encoders: some people reported the following: if you switch away from SAM encoder window and switch back, you cannot perform encoder commands such as F12 (stream labeler). This has been fixed. * A huge Thanksgiving gift/surprise: as you know, if you use screen readers with SAM Encoders, you had to stay on the encoder window until the encoder is connected to a streaming server. I'm happy to announce that this is no longer the case starting from add-on version 3.3. After installing add-on 3.3 and later, you can work on other things from other programs while NVDA is keeping an eye on connection attempt messages. Also, if you told Studio to play the first track after connecting to a streaming server, you don't have to worry about playing intros for your show while you do other things such as sending and receiving tweets. One reminder though: you don't want to exit or restart NVDA while connection is in progress - you may restart NVDA after connection has been made (and preferably while a track is playing). Now the fun part: the second November snapshot of 4.0-dev is packed with new features and bug fixes designed to gather early feedback before releasing public beta (the first public beta is scheduled for mid-December). For our adventurous users, please remember that 4.0-dev is a work in progress, so please don't try it in a production environment. Also, note that SPL 4.33 is no longer supported starting from this snapshot. Here's what's new in the new 4.0-dev snapshot (which can be downloaded from the link above): * Encoder bug fixes and surprise: The same bug fix and the surprise also applies to SPL Encoder. * SPL Encoder connection messages: NVDA will now detect that you entered a wrong password (SPL Encoder does show a message saying password for the server failed). In addition, SPL Encoder support is available for those using StationPlaylist Streamer. * Braille Timer: you can now monitor track intros with braille. If you press Control+Shift+X, NVDA will step through the following four options: braille track ending, braille track intros, braille both track endings and intro endings, and braille timer off (default). So if you set your end of track alarm to 45 seconds, NVDA will braille remaining time for the track starting from 45 seconds till end of track (this works in Studio window). Future enhancement will relax this requirement, allowing you to monitor end of track at all times as long as you are focused in the Studio window. * SPL Assistant: due to popular request, the S command to show track scheduled time now announces the exact time when the track will begin playback (e.g. 00:15:20 if the next track is set to broadcast at that time). * SPL Controller: two new commands were added, including remaining time for the track ( command is R) and enable microphone without fade (N). Also, beeps will be heard when you turn microphone on or off via SPL Controller layer. A more powerful and simpler SPL Controller is on its way for next major release after 4.0. * Microphone alarm: if you left your mic on for a while, NVDA will now play an alarm sound to let you know of this fact (by default, microphone alarm is off; to configure this, press Control+NVDA+4). This setting is permanent. * Library scan: fixed a bug where a user would accidentally enable library scan twice. Please feel free to test 4.0-dev snapshots (if you are curious about it or would like to send early feedback). Thanks, and enjoy the rest of the weekend and the holidays. Cheers, Joseph

You're posting this to the audio discussion list, so I assume the contents of the rar archive is audio data. In that case, particularly if it's mp3 or some similar compressed format you're dealing with, the only way to shrink the size of the file is to re-encode the files to a lower bitrate. I wouldn't recommend this for audio quality reasons, obviously. Archiving with rar, zip or similar programmes works best for text and some application/programme data, or maybe raw sound or picture stuff...you'll get the smallest possible result there with maximum rar compression. - Original Message - From: Jörgen Hansson hansson.jo...@spray.se To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Saturday, December 29, 2012 2:13 PM Subject: anyone knows any solution to compress a 6 gig rar file to 2 gig? hello! Consider reviewing your version of LAME to determine if it is the latest stable version. As you know, LAME is downloaded and installed separately from EAC, although it should be placed in the EAC program folder to easily find it. I always use the LAME presets for ripping. These presets have been created by the community of LAME developers and end users to easily create the highest quality output by an average audiophile who is not an audio engineer. One of these presets is for 320 CBR. A few years ago, I switched to FLAC for ripping all my audio CD's. I used to rip in 256 VBR MP3, but with dirt cheap storage I can now have the best sounding music preserved for a lifetime. I still use MP3 for ripping audio books and spoken word material. Hello there! I often used VAC when taking skypr calls, and that worked pretty good, but I can't install VAC on this win7 computer for some reason. I may see if I can get a hold of version 2. There's now a facility around this for the mic control to hear it straight through, but don't know if it's available for the line one. - Original Message - From: David Truong davidtru...@optusnet.com.au To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, April 16, 2012 1:01 PM Subject: RE: Question about virtual audio cable Agreed! I think each repeater instance by default adds a quarter to half a second of buffer to keep the audio smooth, but I'm not sure how far down one can get away with before you do get skipping. The other thing that could've caused your feedback sound over time is that I thought the manual said that by being a software emulated device, it tries its best, but cannot quite keep in sync to the sample rate of the hardware, which could be something that drifts over time and needs a tear-down and reset. - Original Message - From: chris hallsworth christopher...@gmail.com To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, April 16, 2012 5:44 AM Subject: Re: Question about virtual audio cable Thanks! It's not exactly a Usb solution but it's workable. A note of caument. There is no mechanical isolation for the mikes so the unit is highly susceptible to handling noise. The built in microphones can handle sound pressure levels up to 140 decibals, so it will record live bands with clarity and no distortion. The LS100 also has an output to connect it to a CD drive, and it will enable you to mix down its 8 tracks, to a 2 track stereo mix. It wil record in 24 bit 96K resolution. This is the preliminary information I received from Olympus Japan. The suggested selling price will be $399. If you are a member of any list serves enabling communication with other blind musicians or blind engineers, please pass the word on, about the new Olympus LS100. Keep in mind, I'm not an Olympus sales representative, I have been in contact with Olympus product engineers in order to develop this 8 track digital recorder, with speech guidance for blind users. I installed the crossfade plugin and have selected that plug in but each time I go to the configure button and press the space bar, after it thinks about it, it asks me if I want to send an error message or not. I' say no then I get the message the programme is not responding and do I want to end it, once I say yes to get out of it, I am asked again if I want to send a error message. Maybe you are right, I need to uninstall and then reinstall. The version Ihave now is the standard but maybe I should select the full version next time. You can get it from the Winamp site at http://www.winamp.com/plugin/sqrsoft-advanced-crossfading-output/32368 Once installed, you will need to open the Winamp preferences with ctrl+p, arrow up or down until you get to output, tab to the list of choices, arrow to the Sqrsoft plugin and press enter. Also, you can join Spotify without being invited, and the free service allows you to listen to songs only 5 times and there is a time limit. They only recently changed their free service. You can only join Spotify if someone who is already a member sends you an invitation. When you are accepted, there are two levels of entry. The free one gives you access to everything but there are ads. I don't remember what the fee is but it's worth it if you need to access lots of songs. You are given an edit box in which you place your search term. The problem for me was that, having done that, I couldn't read the search results. It appears to me that the list generated from the search is printed in a non ASCII form. I hope someone finds a way around the access issue because it's a great service. Re: Ned a sugestion.
Hello anders! well, it all depends on which sound card you have, if you have a sound card with mini tele plugg, then you can go directly, make sure that your tape deck has RCA connections, then you only need a cable which contains, 2 RCA cables in the first end, and then in the other end, you should have a plugg which looks like a headphone plugg for headphones for mp3 players or old walkman machines. Re: Melodyne
Hi keeth! melodyne is a note editor for vocals, you can use the right and left arrows on your keyboard to listen to the notes of the vocals of the song. then with a midi keyboard you can edit the actual notes. for example, let's say that you have a vocal part where a note is a little bit out of pitch, then you can use tha vocal wave file and go with the left and right arrows, and when you hear that note which is out of key, you can simply press one of the notes on the midi keyboard which is coresponding to that note in that key whoch the song is in. hope this helps. The company am3d makes some absolutely phenomenal 3d binaural sounds and technology. They were used in a game they released for the blind a few years back called the Mind's Eye The game wasn't great but the sound was really good. They also have a 3d demo of an interrogation room that is the most believable and even spookiest sound demo I've ever heard. Anyway my point is they have a 3d engine that you used to be able to download. It was a demo copy. I got it to work with window eyes and I think JFW though probably not as well since W E works much better using the mouse cursors and such. I could take a sound and place wherever I wanted it, I could move the sounds around. As a matter of fact I put one in a tight circle moving around the head and I got a little sick and dizzy from it. Well the last time I visited there website www.am3d.com I think you have to order the demo of this engine. I did write them a letter a few years back asking if I could have the full version just to explore its accessibility aspects but unfortunately it didn't happen. I was rather impressed how much I could do considering most 3d audio engines like that are very graphical. I'm sure it hasn't changed much and if you write to them you might be able to get the newest demo of the engine. BTW I still have the interrogation room audio demo if anyone is interested.
