I did buy a program years ago, it was crappy but it did try and do
what you want. it was called vix not sure if I have the spelling wrong
but maybe you will find it. it was an Indian developer that wrote the
program on xp so a long time ago.

There is however another service I found where you can upload a file

The service will only work in English and accuracy of the translation

I didn't find any "stand-alone" tools to do this sort of thing.

start recording time, date and duration in minutes. If you see 1440 for the
minutes please first delete the number 1440 with your backspace key or delete
key. Re-read each setting with insert+tab key with JAWS or NVDA. To tell Replay
Radio 9 to automatically convert the recording to another format you look for
the 'No Conversion Setting' within the schedule. There you can tell your WMV's
to be converted to MP3 and at a certain bit rate. Will tell you how to do it
via Skype.

You can also manually convert each recording if needed by going to Replay
Radio's My Recordings list view and find the recording first and then press
your applications key or shift+f10 and choose the save to mp3 option with your
enter key.

You will see the converted .mp3 file in the My Recordings list view.
You can play the file by pressing your enter key on the entry in the my
recordings list view or tab over to the play button within Replay Radio 9's
main user interface.

Replay Radio 9 works with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 too.

Only tinker with the settings if you are not getting a recording.

Anyway I have set a timer for every day, I can't seem to see any

will the app if closed just come up at the time of recording? there is

or down arrow key to change the minutes setting

Use right arrow key to place focus on the AM or PM area

Use up or down arrow keys

Or type letter A for AM or letter P for PM

You can also type in your numbers for the hour and minutes.

Once you have set the start time recording proceed with the date setting by
using your tab key.

Use the steps above to set your date

Month - Day - Year

Example, 9/25/2013

Once set press your tab key one time to set the duration

Press your end key and delete whatever is in the duration edit field, type in
like 60 for the recording to be 60 minutes in lenght.

You can set the duration to -1 which means unlimited recording.

Just to be sure it is correct press insert+tab.

Press tab key until you hear

No Conversion Settings press your spacebar and then your down arrow key to
choose the conversion type format like MP3 from the Formats submenu unless you
do not want a conversion leave as is

Hi.

I think people aren't understanding what I'm asking. I know Winamp will
keep working after AOL stops supporting it. I have two things I'm wondering
about.

First, will it still be able to be retrieved from Ninite? When I got the
updater for Winamp from Ninite, and I updated Winamp with it, it reported
that Winamp was being downloaded. Where is this download coming from? If
from the Ninite site, and there isn't any copyright issue with Winamp, then
there should be no problem getting it that way. If Ninite is retrieving the
update from the Winamp site, then it won't work anymore.

Second, does AOL control the database Winamp uses for auto tagging? If not,
then this feature should still work. If AOL does control this database, and
they consider it a service for Winamp, this feature may not work after
December 20.

I hope this explains what I'm wondering about. I got the Winamp installer,
so if I have to reformat this hard drive I still have a good copy to use to
install it. We'll see what happens after December 20.

Have a great day, and don't work too hard.

I know VLC has hundreds of the damn things and even more if you're
prepared to take a few moments to customise the software.

I'm yet to find what iTunes doesn't do that Winamp does. The interface
is different and takes a little getting used to I admit.

If you're prepared to spend a small amount of money you can buy one of
the most exciting pieces of audio software for the Windows PC to ever
have been invented on the planet and that's Total Recorder, the player
is incredibly powerful even for the Standard Edition.

And finally, supposing Winamp is a spent force come December 20 then
there's nothing at all stopping anyone from using the software if they
see fit though that may mean that the software won't be able to play any
audio/video formats that come our way in the future.

As I said, much ado about nothing and Joy To The World come December
20, so fitting that this event is so close to Christmas Day smile.

Hi, recently i have been playing books on a flash drive connected to
my victor stream with the short lead. i noticed that i wasn't getting
the usual playing time. i assumed that the battery was failing, so i
bought a new battery. i found the same result with the new battery. i
sent a message to humanware about this, asking whether the flash drive
would take up more current. below is their answer. incidently, i have
gone back to playing from the sd card, and am now getting the amout of
playing time i was used to. brian.
Brian

It does depend on the drive itself but generally most flash drives
will cause the stream to use more power when accessing them.

Nice post I couldn't agree more I have not played for over 10 years now!

with acustics.

Do you like the sound of a fender, gypson, etc .. that will be a factor.

I would recommend getting medium gage strings .. but the guitars will
already be strung.

Wish I could be of more help, but a guitar is such a personal thing.

My advice is learn acustic first before electric. Honestly, a classical
guitar is the best because once yhou learn it, you'll find playing a
regular guitar and most of all and electric much easier.

Learn your scales, it's cool to jump in and start learning songs, but
you want that foundation. Too many people never sit there and learn
those different scales, and there4's tons of different fingerings.

Hi all

I know there are several programs that would allow you to turn text files
into audio files in mp3 format using the sapi voices on the computer.

However, I find the very odd phrasing of especially the realspeak voices a
bit difficult to understand.

Hence my question: Has anyone ever written such a programme which turns
text files into audio files using the Eloquence speech synthesizer? That
would also mean if you e.g. like the british voice, it then uses the british
voice as it is already installed on your computer?

Just curious.

DVD Audio Extractor. Couldn't be simpler. The people using decryption

You can still do a window's upgrade I think using xp. I don't know as I
have not tried this using this OS. but I am sure it can be done in the
same way anyway if you don't want to do it fare enough.

This will not be like a reformat this will just over write the OS and
fix problems.

I don't think this would affect your updates, as I don't think the task
scheduler is being brought into play.

If I am wrong I am more than happy to be corrected, thinking about it
it might be that I am wrong because you can schedule it to download and
install at any given time someone who knows about this will I am sure
let us know.

I am really just sort of shooting in the dark really can't give you any
more help on this matter sorry but it has been an interesting one for me.

This will be no help sorry, but it sounds to me like you have problems
with your installation of window's. Have you tried taking the PC back
using window's restore?

I can't remember what OS your on, If it's window's7 you can put the
disc in and do an upgrade you will have to uninstall window's sp1 first,
but it will fix any problems you might have and you won't have to
start all over again.

Your programs and settings will be just as they were but if there are
any problems with window's they will be fixed.

I tried this on a beta box I have and it does work. You will have to do
all your updates again I think you will need the sp1 anyway so when it
has done it's thing just one thing it's been a few weeks since I tried
it but I think you will have to put in your registration code for
window's again.

I can post the article about this if this OK with the mods. good luck. I
am now out of ideas with this one I will try this with tap in radio
later, i have used the scheduler but not for a long time and maybe this
version has broken it. I think they would have had a flood of
complaints if they had.

The Tr.exe in tapin radio just another idea have you tried running this
as administrator? no more ideas I'm afraid good luck.

Dave,

There is a script on the GW site called QT support or
something similar which when installed allows Tapin radio to
perform flawlessly.

2011-08-31 Thread Kevin Cussick
You can still do a window's upgrade I think using xp. I don't know as I
have not tried this using this OS. but I am sure it can be done in the
same way anyway if you don't want to do it fare enough.

This will not be like a reformat this will just over write the OS and
fix problems.

I don't think this would affect your updates, as I don't think the task
scheduler is being brought into play.

If I am wrong I am more than happy to be corrected, thinking about it
it might be that I am wrong because you can schedule it to download and
install at any given time someone who knows about this will I am sure
let us know.

I am really just sort of shooting in the dark really can't give you any
more help on this matter sorry but it has been an interesting one for me.

This will be no help sorry, but it sounds to me like you have problems
with your installation of window's. Have you tried taking the PC back
using window's restore?

The Tr.exe in tapin radio just another idea have you tried running this
as administrator? no more ideas I'm afraid good luck.

presenting me with an error message that said something like service
could not be started; interface unknown! I cannot believe that it is
impossible for me to run the scheduler for Tapin Radio on this machine;

Subject: CD copying recommendation needed

A small blindness organisation has asked me to recommend a program for
copying their quarterly audio newsletter. I know there are
many programs which will do this, but I am looking for something without
bells and whistles which will simply do the following and
is accessible and easy to use.

1. Can read a CD to temporary storage on hard disk.

2. Can produce a specified number of exact copies of the CD. That is, if 20
copies are specified, eject each CD once copied and
prompt for the next until the 20 copies have been made.

3. Has an option to specify the write speed.

4. Has an option to verify that the disk has been written correctly.

5. The program is fairly inexpensive or preferably free.

Note that it needs to do an exact copy of the disk rather than track by
track, since there aren't gaps between the tracks on the
original, so they don't want them on the copies.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Barry Chapman

In regards to your query about documentation, a lot of the Reaper manual
is useless for blind beginners as ReaAccess (the plug-in I mentioned
earlier) changes many of the hotkeys and when using a screen reader many
of the procedures to accomplish the basics are slightly different. That
audio file should hopefully get you up and running, however if it does
not, the ReaAccess website (http://www.reaaccess.com) features details
on how you can join a mailing list specifically to talk about the use of
Reaper with screen readers. I'm sure people will be happy to help you on
there.

Initially, I thought this would be a good idea but after reading the posts I
have to agree with Bruce and others who think it isn't. Since there are
other lists providing this service I see no need to provide it here. Plus,
if we provide it we'll just be diluting the audience for the other lists and
that's not a good thing. This list serves a group of people who want to get
information about how to make audio related products work and to learn about
new ones. I think we'd be biting off more than we could reasonably chew to
broaden our scope to this extent.

already. I think the introduction of this will be the point at which I

I'll probably be the only one who doesn't like the idea, and that's okay,
it's not my list, but I just think there are so many such forums out there
already, and people cross-post to all of them. If it's a dedicated forum for
advertising podcasts and shows and so on, fine, great. But if five other
lists allow it, and I'm a member of all five lists for various reasons, I
have to read five copies of the ad.Plus, you're always goingto have
thepeople who will post ads on other than the designated days,a nd then
claim that they didn't know.Just my two cents'
worth, and I'm sure I'll be overruled on this one, which is fine.

I think this is a good idea but I'd like to see the idea extended
slightly so people could let people on the list know of podcasts or
online radio stations they find interesting even if the person
mentioning the podcast or station isn't involved with that podcast or
 station.

I know several list members who have podcasts and webcasts and there
are probably many others who I do not know about.
I've been trying to think of a way to help podcasters and webcasters
promote their casts and came up with this idea.

Maybe a couple times a month, say the first and third Friday of each
month, we could have a free-for-all Friday when any list member
could post a short concise message telling about their cast. I'm
thinking posts could be made all day Friday UTC. I would send out a
message to the list a few hours prior to the start of the Friday
time period and explain that it is a free-for-all Friday and what
UTC time would be in the United States and maybe other parts of the
  world.

If I don't get too many complaints against doing this maybe we can
try it this Friday, the thirteenth of June.

Loquendo is better than this Anna, even if of course Anna is better,
much much better, than their Microsoft Sam, Mary and Mike.
Try to listen
http://actor.loquendo.com/actordemo/default.asp
Expensive (about 260 euro per voice) but better.
and, as I could understand, you buy a voice, being able to use it as
a standard sapi5.
On the other side, Scansoft Real Speak (silvia for italian, but I
know there are also english voices) is packed with Jaws cd, but you
can use it just for Jaws
and it's worse (for my personal taste)
Well, I heard somewhere that also Silvia (and similar) could be used
as a standard sapi5, but I knew it should be violating their license,
even if it's technically possible.

Please, dear God, tell me someone knows of a program that is freeware, or

only seems to do Sapi4. Jonathan, correct me if I am wrong. Basicly I
 have
from nextup.com both Neo speech Kate and Paul that I bought a bit back,
 and
now that I have a laptop with a gig of ram in this system, I must say: O
 my
God! You wanna talk about beautiful! I like it so much to the point that
 I
am using it instead of Eloquence, and before anyone could comment, I
 cannot
stand Real Speak. dono why, it just gives me a headache. Especially
Jennifer. Kate on the other hand? What a cyber babe! LOL! Anyway if
anyone has a suggestion, let me know. I'd be very interested.

 Thanks a lot.

The dreded text recorder.

2006-08-29 Thread kevin cussick
Hi all,
I got into a conversation last night on list and off list about converting
text to MP3.
I remember I tried to use text recorder a while ago and gave up can't
remember why so I installed the dam thing to-day!!
Now I remember why I gave up on this bit of software I know some one on this
list clames she has got this to convert text to MP3 but I know of lots of
other
folks who have the same problem as me.
It just sits their it makes the wov file but If you use Jfw mouse Keys it
says it is compressing to MP3 but 4 or 5 hours later it is just doing the
same.
I have the lame encoder in the System 32 directory and have told the program
to use this I also have it in program files and have tried to use the
encoder
it's just the same one burt it does not matter what I do it does not convert
to MP3 I would like to get this program to work not because I will use it
really but It is just annoying me because their is no reason that I can see
why it does not work.
can some one help?
It has a nice interface it's not as advanced as say text aloud but I would
like to try it all the best and thanks for any help any one can give.
