Bose Soundlink

2017-04-07 Thread Peter Russillo
Hello, I just got a Bose SoundLink Mobile Bluetooth speaker, the first
version of this speaker, with the leather type cover; a couple of questions
for anyone who has this device: If you run it on battery and have the
volume at about midrange, about how long could a charge last? The manual
says 3 hours a maximum volume which is pretty loud. Also, I know when you
close the cover the speaker turns off; does this mean one can just close the
cover and not have to fool with the power button? Thanks for any info on
this.

MaPlEr Player

accessible software media player that can bookmark

voice activated radio

2016-03-29 Thread Peter Russillo
Hello, is there such a device as a voice-activated radio that will go to
whatever frequency you tell it to go to? For instance if your favorite FM
station is at 89.9 on the dial, is there a radio to which you could say, "Go
to 89.9" and it would do so? This would be helpful especially if the power
goes out but you haven't put that station into a preset if the radio has
presets; otherwise one would have to spend time going up and down the
frequencies until the right one is reached. Thanks.

editing playlist Windows Media Player 12

2015-06-28 Thread Peter Russillo
Hello list. Please give me some tips on editing a playlist in Windows Media
Player 12; I use Windows 7 and my screen reader is System Access. Here's
the deal: I made the playlist of an album I've got on the hard drive; yet a
piece from somewhere else in the computer got on the list along with the
album; what I need to do is take that extra piece of music off the playlist
so that only the album I put in the playlist will play; yet in the primary
list view in the Library, it shows only the names of the songs on the album
which is in the playlist; that extra music doesn't show up in the list view;
what's the best accessible way to take that extra item out of the playlist?

Hi Evan. I recently got a new Win 7 machine to replace my Vista machine

before the old one died, I went to the program and looked for the Options
section; there should be a button that says something like resend my
activation key. I did this, got my key, pasted it in where it needed to go
and Hope is now running on both my Win 7 mechines. You might try running
the program and put in your Pandora login info, then there should be a
dialog with a Resend activation key button; give this a shot. If Hope
support isn't writing back that can really suck. I understand the suthor is

Is the NCH audio software accessible?

2013-12-25 Thread Peter Russillo

Hi list, Merry Christmas.

Would anyone here know about the accessibility of the software from
NCH? Specifically, I want to look into their Express Burn CD burning
software, if it works on Windows 7 64 bit machines. If anyone's had
experience using this, would you please give me some pointers for
getting the best use from it? Windows Media Player seems a bit tricky
for setting up a playlist to burn to a CD; I use System Access for a
screen reader but something's wrong with the Media Library in that it
won't let me burn something to CD; Support can't help much in this
case. I have tried Digital Jukebox from Marvelsoft; in that case yes,
I can make the playlist and then go to the Project menu and tell the
program to burn the tracks to CD; a blank CD is in the drive, but when
I hit the okay button after I'm given the total playing time for the
tracks to burn the CD, the speech just goes silent and a message pops
up that the dj.exe has stopped working and should be closed; I haven't
heard back from their tech support yet, maybe tomorrow after Christmas.
Meanwhile I'm wanting to find out more about Express Burn by NCH
Software to find out if it's accessible with screen readers before I
plunk down money for it. Thanks in advance for any info you can give
me on this; also if anyone has experience with Digital Jukebox by
Marvelsoft I'm interested in learning about experiences people had
using it. thanks again and Merry Christmas.

Next time you face discouragement, try this: Take all of your heartache, all

exactly how you feel. He already knows, anyway. Then, put your hope in God,

YouTube

2013-10-04 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi list. As I run into the issue we've been talking about, here is my
setup: Running Windows Vista Home Premium; Internet Explorer 9; System
Access screen reader (with NVDA for emergencies). I've somehow through
trial and error been able to bring up the volume of YouTube audio to high;
when I close IE and later open it again and find another YouTube video
that's got audio, the volume is back to zero again. This started in my case
yesterday evening; so if there are System Access users on this list, have
you run into the abovementioned behavior lately and if so, what's the best
solution using SA? Thanks.

Freemake's software

2013-07-04 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi list. I was following what was said about Freemake's YouTube converter
and their other software; is this software known to be accessible with
screen readers? Please let me know if anyone's used their software to
downolad YouTube stuff, or the Freemake Music Box software to play audio?
Thanks.

Digital Jukebox

2013-06-10 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi list. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium on my machine and the program
Digital Jukebox from Marvelsoft and found something strange: I have several
MP3 files I purchased from CD Baby. These play just fine using Winamp or
the media player on System Access Mobile network; however, when I use
Digital Jukebox and try these same MP3 files I get an error message that
goes something like: There was a problem; failed to initialize MCI ... I
couldn't copy that error message to show you, but when I asked Marvelsoft
about this, I was told some MP3 files use a different codec than others.
(there are a lot of these kinds of files that work fine with Digital
Jukebox. What is this MCI business, and how can I find what codec an MP3
file uses? I'd like to be able to use Digital Jukebox with these files; is
there a workaround to this? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: tapin radio

2013-05-26 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi Randy. Yes, you can add stations to the Favorites section of the
software.  If you haven't downloaded Tapin Radio yet, just google it;
there's a free version and a paid version.

A version of Skype that works with Win 98 SE?

2005-08-07 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi list. Is there still a version of Skkype that will work with Win 98 SE?
I use Win 98 SE and a dial-up modem, and JFW 4.51, and my PC is 333 MHz and
64 megs of RAM. I see the current version needs 128 megs of ram, and Win
2000 or XP; I'm interested in it but don't want to go buy a new PC just so I
can use the current version of Skype. Any info on a version that works with
Win 98 SE and 64 megs of RAM, and works with JFW 4.51, would be appreciated;
thanks.

Sincerely, Peter Russillo

Hi list. I've seen sometimes when listening to a stream like some of
 those
on Live365, (where I've set things up for Winamp to play the stream), on
some streams there, especially the ones that are for dial-up but use MP3
Pro, after a half hour to an hour, when I want to leave that stream and
do
something else, when trying Alt-F4 or just V to stop Winamp, nothing
happens; the music keeps playing, no matter what I do; the only solution
 in
this case is the ol' 3-finger salute and rebooting the machine. I use
Win
  98 SE, IE 6.0, JFW 4.51, dial-up connection, and 64 mb RAM; I'm using
 Winamp
5.08E, which works very well for me normally. I also turn off the Task
Scheduler before listening so Norton won't try to go get updates; I've
 found
through experience that leaving Task Scheduler on while listening to a
stream can cause things to misbehave. Any ideas on how to keep Winamp
 from
becoming frozen so I can enjoy my favorite bookmarked streams and when
 ready
to do something else, won't have to deal with a frozen Winamp? Thanks
for
any tips or tricks to make things behave right; thanks in advance.

Re: increasing streams in Winamp library

2005-05-08 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi Susan, as to increasing the streams, in Media Library under Preferences,
look for a button that says something about managing cache and hit it; you
should get a dialog that starts with something about limiting the streams to
fetch; if the edit box says 500, for instance, than hit Delete and type a
higher number, say 1. Then go to the Okay button, press it with
spacebar; then you're back on the first dialog page; go to the Close button,
hit the spacebar, and that should do it. As for 5.09, I just tried it and
found an odd behavior with it. I'm on dial-up, and previous versions of
Winamp didn't try to connect to the Net when listening to a file stored
offline; however with 5.09 in my case, when I wanted to listen to something
that is offline on the hard disk, Winamp would connect to the Net. Even
when I merely wanted to run Winamp while offline to see what plugins are
there, the thing would--what else--connect! I went back to 5.08E; I don't
know what kind of connection I have, but for now I'm staying away from 5.09;
so, ah, pick your poison (grin). HTH

 Hi listers,
sorry if this question has been done to death, but can someone remind me
about how to increase the number of streams in the Winamp media library
with
the latest version? Once I get to the media library section under
preferences i can't seem to find the appropriate dialogue, which looks
different from the 5.04 version on my old machine. Any help much
appreciated. By the way, I'm wondering about upgrading to the new
version,
any thoughts for or against from those who may have already done it? many
 thanks as always.

Hi Doug, I hear that message also when I bring up ACB Radio, but the stream
plays anyway; no idea why you hear that message, but since the stream plays,
Winamp is in fact working. Maybe someone on the list has more knowledge on

I tried the winamp list to no avail. I definitely have winamp 5.8e
 installed.
However, when I bring up a stream I get the message in the subject line.
Winamp gets launched and the stream plays. Why am I getting that silly
 message
 Thanks in advance.

Re: live 365

2005-04-01 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi Stan, Peter here. I've tried the Player 365; I can get onto a radio
station okay; however when I leave the whole computer just freezes up; I
think that site uses Flash; I wonder if updating the FlashPlayer if prompted
would solve that issue. I use Windows 98 SE, Jaws 4.51, and IE 6 on a
computer with 64 megs of RAM and clock speed of 333 MyhZ. Please let me
know if updating flash, or removing it altogether, might solve this problem
of the computer freezing? Thanks.

 Hi,

I'd recommend using the Live365 player, not Winamp. Fortunately it's
fairly
accessible, at least version 1.0 of it is. I haven't tried their newest
player, and since it boasts of having skins, that may mean it's less
 accessible than its predecessor.

Live 365 makes Jaws crash when leaving a radio station

2005-03-30 Thread Peter Russillo
Hello list; this is about Live365 and JFW; whenever I listen to any radio
station on Live365 using the Live365 player called Player 365 (I think
that's their default player), and then leave there to go somewhere else,
after getting off the site, JFW just freezes, so I'm unable to see what kind
of illegal-operation error came up. I use a Gateway G6-333 computer with 64
megs RAM, Windows 98 SE, and JFW 4.51 and IE 6. Has anyone had experience
positive or negative with Live365? Are they using Macromedia Flash now? Is
there some way to ignore Flash with JFW 4.51? I asked the Jaws list these
same questions but got no responses so decided to ask here. Please let me
know about any tips or tricks for Live365, including which is the best
player to use--whether theirs or Winamp (which I have in the machine).
Thanks for any help and/or info you can give me.

Sincerely,

Peter Russillo

Re: Live 365 makes Jaws crash when leaving a radio station

2005-03-30 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi Dean, thanks for the hint; I changed to Winamp for playing Live 365;
however I get a dialog for sending an error report to Microsoft; the error
involves FlashPlayer; is FlashPlayer terribly important for most websites?
I've looked in Add/Remove Programs and it's not listed there; if I were to
search in Files and Folders, found it and removed it, could it compromise
things in the computer? Or is it better to update the FlashPlayer if asked?
Any info on this would be helpful so I might listen to Live 365 without a
lot of hassle; thanks.

For me, it's an easy choice to use Winamp over their default player.

Re: Question for a friend

2004-04-12 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi Cindy, Peter Russillo here. Does your friend use Jaws or Window-Eyes?
Has he checked about the firewall on his network? I'm guessing (thought I'm
not on a network) that some things like that may not be getting let into the
firewall. Windows Media Player 7 may need to be upgraded to version 9, or
even better, have him get Winamp 5.03; also have him (if he hasn't already0
get the free ACB Radio Tuner; that can be set so the player he chooses can
open when activating any of the buttons, be it Mainstream, Interactive,
Cafe--what have you. Good luck getting this solved.

I have a friend who is using Windows 2000 on his computer. He's been
