Re: List Name In Subject Line
Please do not put the list name in the subject field. It's annoying and distracting! I have no problem filtering all of my lists into different folders without this addition. i don't agree, there are many situations where messages cannot be filtered, for example from my job computer I can check my personal e-mail just via web, and if messages do not have the correct subject tag, it's confusing. Or, most of situations, checking it from my pocket pc well, I could put a filter also in the e-mail via web, but it's so complicated, and unfortunately on GMail, they put the html only version just to read and write messages, for the other options, filters included, you must use the standard version, totally unfriendly to screen readers so it's hard to click on folders. I have this problem here and on blinux-list in these situation, till I read the complete subject line, I have no way to understand if message is personal or from a list. Re: Realaudio link does not work inscreamer radio.
yes, really, RealAudio should be _just_ supported by realplayer but, there are several programs that support it, like RaWarVecorder, that is free. another that i don't remember the name, such as cool stream, or hot stream don't remember, which is free too and they work using the RealPlayer libraries. well, RealAlternative too, I think it couldn't legally support realaudio, or they have paid i don't know but...once i used MPlayer under linux and i used to listen to real media files, it had the DLL's taken from windows, in the codecs directory and these guys weren't so paranoid about licensing, *smiles* maybe, I think, the reason why screamer radio does not support, is the second, not the first. I mean, the much work it could be. :) Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Screamer Radio?
1. When I play a stream in Screamer, it plays through the same sound card (my default card) as JAWS. Doesn't this mean that any recording I make will capture JAWS, as well as the recording source? Is there a way to isolate the recording source from JAWS. No, Screamer doesn't capture Jaws sound too. Don't know why and how, but with Screamer you record pure and clean audio streamings, without any disturbance by the annoying Jaws. 2. I've found the menu option to begin a recording. Is there a keystroke that can be used, instead? And how do I stop or pause a recording? Navigating the Screamer Radio window, you find all buttons. volume control (slider), then Play (alt+p) which becomes stop (alt+s) during playback. then Mute/unmute (alt+m), then Rec (alt+r) to toggle recording on and off. I explain you the Mute button later. Of course you do not have it announced, if recording is on or off, but if you have doubts you can verify it from the recording menu, if it says begin it means it's stopped, otherwise, it's recording. And another fast way to verify if it's recording or not, after having pressed alt+r key, is with the status bar reading command, insert+page down It says Playing... if it's just playing, and recording...if it's recording. The streaming comes aut clear, so, it does not care of Jaws speaking In the status bar it also reads the direct URL (source) of the current station, and how many seconds of playback. But, you just need what it says first, so, when you hear Playback... or Recording... you press the ctrl key to make it be silent! 3. I've found where I can set the recording bit rate. But is there a way to choose a format other than mp3? No, there is no other format. It just streams into MP3. 4. When I click on the menu option to Open Recording folder, it takes me to my root directory. Is there a way to specify another folder in which to place a recording. Of course there is. Go to preferences, recording tab, and when it says saved press tab and you find a ..., which is the browse button. There you can choose whatever folder you want. 5. When I first start the program, the JAWS focus is on an up-down slider labeled Information, and set to 100%. What is this control? It's the volume control. Just turn up and down pressing up and down, or right and left, arrows. Usually it speaks, but for example with jaws 8.0 in my workstation here in the office, it doesn't (the braille display follows me, but not speech) and at home, with jaws 7.10, it speaks properly. and also in my sighted boyfriend's computer, where I installed a jaws 5.10 to play around configuring his toy, it works. Let me explain some things about main window. First you have the volume Information is not the label of the slider, but the title of the group box. if you navigate the window with jaws cursor, going up from t he slider (route jaws to pc and then up arrow), you will find, under information, the name and URL of the station and eventually the song currently playing, then the buttons, and in the end, the status bar. Let's assume your volume is OK as it is now. you tab, and find play (alt+p) it will say, playback play button. Playback is the title of the group box containing the controls (play, mute and rec) The Play, of course, becomes Stop when you are playing and/or recording a station, and so, the access key from alt+p becomes alt+r. after play, you tab again and find Mute The name is quite ambiguous, because it seems that pressing it will make our computer silent. But that's not. Pressing Mute, just stops the playback. But the Jaws continues speaking, and also, it does not affect the recording in any way! It means that you could start Screamer Radio and begin recording, not to miss your favourite talk show while studying, and keeping it silent! Unfortunately it's not possible to schedule the recording, that is, telling Screamer to start and stop recording at a user-defined time. 6. I've found the presets menu. How do I add additional presets of my own? Unfortunately you cannot play with presets Presets are managed by the Screamer Radio developers, there is a forum on the site, where stations can be suggested, unfortunately the forum has the visual confirmation to register, I just asked David (the developer) to resolve the issue via AntiBot question but he did not answer me Unfortunately again, in this period, Ludvik, the Presets man, is away, so he cannot keep presets up to date, I am trying to find a way to help them You can add your favourites, using the favorites menu (remember that when you add a station you must put title, URL, and the source is usually filled with the url you are currently listening to) but favorites cannot be arranged by genre, language, region, etc I hope I have been satisfying your requests Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Screamer Radio?
martina just press alt+r to begin/stop recording alt+p to play alt+s to stop alt+m to mute (it just mutes the music/talking of the radio, does not affect Jaws or the recording) the recording comes smooth and clear even if the radio is silent *talksina knows how to record favourite talk shows from work* (smiles) Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

for anders, problems with radio stream
hi, i went to blind radio.com and searched for radios in my country(italy) found some, and they can be properly opened with Winamp, I have Winamp 5.33 and Jaws 8.0 american (the localized italian is not out yet). It properly works But, a suggestion Try to get this nice tool, Screamer Radio http://www.screamer-radio.com then, go to BlindRadio.com, get t he radio station you want, tab on listen to radio name, with windows media player, right click on it, select the option saying to copy the URL on the clipboard go to the Screamer Radio window, of c ourse after having installed the program, file menu, open URL, and the URL copied in the clipboard is immediately and automatically pasted there. Press enter, and the playback should start, if it does not start, it's not your fault, but it's the server's fault (maybe it's disconnected? maybe it's not on air any longer?) and have fun Well, don't forget that Screamer just supports MP3/OGG/WMA formats, not RealAudio so the .ra and .rm files are not supported well, and with Screamer you could also record if you wish Enjoy! Re: for PowerGramo users
oh well. for the music, when you are on the main window, Jaws just recites VEmotion desktop, that is right Press control+tab and you will be in the Music tab then, alt+l to go to list menu select Add file and add whatever you want, or also add directory if you want to add a full album, for example. press enter when you selected what you want (it's a standard windows open file dialog) then, you are ready. You got your songs on the list. During a call, press enter on the song you want to play and it's automatically shared. If you want to play multiple songs in sequence, just select them with shift+down arrow if they are contiguois (for example play track 1, track 2, track 3 and track 4, one by one). Well, in current version, it's not possible to select multiple tracks if they are not contiguois (for example if you want to play in sequence the track number one and number four, skipping 2 and 3), as in standard Windows, where you use the ctrl+arrows and press space on the desired item Mr. Zhiqing Chen is working on that, to make it possible to use standard Windows commands for the list management. And, also, to pop up the context menu, the standard Windows application key or shift+f10 key do not work, you must route Jaws to PC cursor and then press the num pad star, to simulate the right mouse button, and the context menu appears. From there, you can preview the song before sending it. Well, be careful, the trap is the tab key. while in the emotions page (the first which appears when opening voice emotion) there is no additional control, on the music there are 3 buttons: share background music, stop, and pause/continue You MUST press the ctrl+insert+g to turn the automatic graphic labeler feature otherwise jaws just says button. and, be careful not to press shift+tab, otherwise you could get lost! shift+tab, in VoiceEmotion, does not work as in standard windows apps (one step backwards) but switches between the list and the tool bar. To navigate control in a single position (list or toolbar) use tab key. It's a circle menu, so, when you reach the last voice, pressing tab again brings you to the first. The tool bar buttons are the following: add file add directory move up move down adjust volume mute microphone enable recording Most functions are reachable via menu, so the toolbar is not needed. Except for adjusting volume, but even in this case, the volume control is accessible pressing ctrl+alt+v. so, the only thing I can say is, leave the shift+tab alone! ctrl+shift+v for volume, then arrow key up and down (jaws cursor to have speech output, the braille follows perfectly but not the speech) jaws cursor's output should be something as 50 50 the first is the local volume (our machine's volume) the other is the remote volume (caller's volume) to switch between one and the other, just press tab. It does not talk, does not say local volume or remote volume but just remember that the local is the first value, the remote the second then, to save volume settings, press enter or esc bye. recording skype calls, was RE: recording from sound card with sound forge
for people who want to record skype calls get PowerGramo (www.powergramo.com - free for 2-users conversations, paid for multi-user calls) or VoiceEmotion (www.voiceemotion.com, free for one or multi-users 3 minutes call, and paid for unlimited time 2-users or multi-users calls) I have worked on VoiceEmotion's project, giving them feedback on how to improve accessibility for VIP's (visually impaired people) there is an intended tutorial, too. But unfortunately as I do not know window-eyes or Hal, I have not tested it with that screen readers. PowerGramo, I abandoned it when I discovered VoiceEmotion (smiles) The synthesizer does not interfer with VoiceEmotion's automatic recorder, which just records VoIP call, so there is no need to turn the synth off the problem is if, for example, you have acoustic signals turned on for Skype events (authorization/contacts/file requests, incoming chat messages, contacts going and coming, calls, etc) VEmotion records such sounds Remember to set, in Recorder options, singlechannel on recording mode, and record my voice, my partner's and shared music must be checked but you find all in the tutorial for visually impaired you get on the site www.voiceemotion.com if you need help with VoiceEmotion just ask -- Talksina home page: http://www.audiomontaggi.net ICQ# 242977025 MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] skype: talksina AIM/Yahoo messenger: talksina Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: recording skype calls, was RE: recording from sound cardwithsound forge
ah, you are talking about PowerGramo, I misunderstood I thought you were talking about VoiceEmotion well, it's the same screen I get opening PowerGramo. I suppose it starts recording automatically when a skype call starts, you should go to tools menu and activate all boxes, then navigate options in the Options menu voice, always on tools menu. you can set the directory where calls are saved, and if you want to show a memo screen (to take some notes during the call) or not well, let me say, PowerGramo and VoiceEmotion's recording engine are the same and management is really the same then from the File menu you can export the call record to another file, or delete it, and from Replay menu you can manage playback (play/stop/pause) I suppose you have that window because it's empty. well I did never have a recorded call there, so, that's why I cannot assist you directly right now otherwise, as it's not a MSAA window, try to figure it out with Jaws cursor, if you are convinced to have recorded a call well, I suggest you like this: without disturbing some people just to test, try to call, with powergramo activated, the Skype call test, echo123. Loquendo is better than this Anna, even if of course Anna is better, much much better, than their Microsoft Sam, Mary and Mike. Try to listen http://actor.loquendo.com/actordemo/default.asp Expensive (about 260 euro per voice) but better. and, as I could understand, you buy a voice, being able to use it as a standard sapi5. On the other side, Scansoft Real Speak (silvia for italian, but I know there are also english voices) is packed with Jaws cd, but you can use it just for Jaws and it's worse (for my personal taste) Well, I heard somewhere that also Silvia (and similar) could be used as a standard sapi5, but I knew it should be violating their license, even if it's technically possible. -- Talksina home page: http://www.audiomontaggi.net ICQ# 242977025 MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] skype: talksina AIM/Yahoo messenger: talksina Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: Sample of Microsoft Anna Voice Included with Vista
ah, I forgot. as I use synthesizers also to have fun, not just to read, I want to warn you that Loquendo has some expressive tags, for example \_kiss produces a kiss effect, \_laugh a laugh effect, etc. But, in the end, this is nothing new, these are just audio samples put together with synthesizer's phonemes (on those, you cannot change the effects such as pitch, rate and volume) and it has also some pre-recorded expressions, such as hello, that's impossible, how are you, etc Loquendo, right now, targets especially business-related public, so, for commercial purpose, they just included some expressions but you cannot alter, or add some new. It was of course possible with DecTalk, which could also sing (I enjoy doing that) and also the very very first Loquendo, the 4.0 version, and it was even easier to make it sing, than the very difficult phoneme-millisecond-frequency in herz parameters, of dec talk. Loquendo4, just worked with a single parameter. backslash, m, the herz frequency and then the syllable to make it pronounce, a single consonant or vowel was 100 milliseconds, 2 consonants or vowels 200, and so on. Of course, easier, but less professional than DecTalk. but it was, is, in italian only, and the dec talk is in english only (or some how I heard it french). I don't know if Loquendo is sold out of italy, for blindness-related purposes you should try and contact them via www.loquendo.com -- Talksina home page: http://www.audiomontaggi.net ICQ# 242977025 MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] skype: talksina AIM/Yahoo messenger: talksina Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

At 19.40 01/02/2007, you wrote: how do you use the expressions features of loquendo with the sapi 5 voice? refering to the tags that make it laugh etc? well, the tags are not implemented in Jaws, but they can be used with standard SAPI5-enabled softwares. such as VoiceEmotion http://www.voiceemotion.com a program to use sounds and tts in voIP conversations or, DSpeech, that is a free TTS program, used especially to create audio-books http://dimio.altervista.org/eng you can find a detailed review of DSpeech (i wrote it) on www.accesswatch.info To avoid misunderstandings, as most of the list members do not know who i am, I am not a Loquendo worker, and I am not a person paid by some company I just am a blind girl from italy who loves to have fun with sound effects and text-to-speech. that's all. pay attention. tags, and loquendo obtained illegally
hi, I need to warn you of another issue. someone told me there is some loquendo versions that can be obtained illegally, through eMule or such tools, and these voices came from QualiLife - www.qualilife.com which took away the direct downloads, probably because of this illegal spreading (I heard that just the installer, and a simple dll patch were needed to unlock the license). well. if you wanna use Loquendo susan, simon, elizabeth, dave, bernard, and so on, with expressive tags, and you have those obtained illegally, tags and expressions do not work. These synths, nindependently on legal or illegal, are embedded versions. They were just packed for QualiSpeak, a program for people with speech and cognition disabilities, which just needed the aid to talk for them, nothing more so, those synths are quite poor quality, and of course lose some functionalities (a normal loquendo is heavy, about 200 megs, qualilife's ones are 25-30 megs just the installers). bye. Re: adobe auditionjaws
What version of Audition do you have. There are scripts for version 1.5, but I don't think there is a update to deal with version 2.0 yet. OK, that's the answer maybe. I wanted to install the newest version of Audition, but if you tell me there are no script, I'll get the 1.5 with proper ones -- Talksina home page: http://www.audiomontaggi.net ICQ# 242977025 MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] skype: talksina AIM/Yahoo messenger: talksina Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
