Hi again! The original poster of the eMail has given me permission to forward his work to the list, if anyone has further enquiries then they can contact him directly to get progress reports on development etc. Begin forwarded message: From: Gordon Smith gor...@mac-access.net Subject: Radio Broadcasting Software For the PC, some excellent news! Date: 3 November 2014 6:31:44 am AEDT Hello everybody For the last couple of weeks I have been working with the developers of a software package called “RadioBOSS” to make their software accessible. I wrote them a long report outlining the accessibility requirements and, within 48 hours of my doing so, they have produced a beta which removes the accessibility issues almost completely. Their formerly graphically drawn boxes are now standard group box controls, and it is possible to navigate between them via the keyboard. The software has excellent audio processing, oodles of keyboard hot keys, built-in streaming/DSP encoders, (including Icecast 2.0 and Shoutcast 2.0), full support for uploading playlists to a remote server, full song requester facilities, accurate top-of-the-hour rotation timing, multiple file formats supported, on-the-fly recording of broadcasts, multiple simultaneous input/output sound devices, dynamically updated music libraries, Copy Paste queuing, automatic playlist generation suitable for full 24/7 automation, and much much more. The software comes in three different flavours, depending upon your needs. But even the most expensive “Advanced” license is priced at just $199.00 US which, in comparison even to things like Station Playlist Creator and Sam Broadcaster, is a very affordable price. Indeed, to license SPL and Studio Pro you’re looking at $450 for the two apps together. This comes as an all-in-one application and is, as I say, cheaper than Station Playlist Creator Pro on its own. I shall continue to work with the developers to further accessibility. But it shows what can be achieved if one approaches a developer in the right way. I went to them politely and demonstrated my willingness to play the game, so to speak, by purchasing 4 licenses for the Advanced edition which can be used on my four machines here to broadcast. I am excited as to the prospects of using this software, and once we iron out a few more of the issues, I am confident that we will end up with a very accessible and highly effective means of putting one’s programming to air. If you immediately rush off to download it, I should warn you against downloading the main release setup version on their website. It is not fully accessible at all. Many of the tabs and panels are not available in that version. If you want to download and try the beta, you’ll need to access their Forum and download as a guest from there. Alternatively, get back to me off list and I’l send you a copy of the beta. two questions or three. first question the boom arm it attaches to my desk via a clip right? if this is the way it attaches, won't the humming from the fan under the desk still come through because of the boom arm is attached? second question, can I get any boom arm or one that is made for the blue yeti pro. third and last question, sorry if this sounds dumb, will I have to take the yeti off the desk stand or can I attach it to the boom arm as is. thanks so much again. - Original Message - From: tim cumings thcumi...@comcast.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 3:47 PM Subject: Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro. you can get a boom arm for $50. - Original Message - From: angel.adorno1 angel.ador...@verizon.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 6:33 AM Subject: Re: need helping with humming on blue yeti pro. Re: i have some questions about mp3 direct cut
thanks so much. - Original Message - From: Jeff Samco jsa...@jps.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2012 10:41 PM Subject: Re: i have some questions about mp3 direct cut Hello, I have used MP3DirectCut for years. Because of previous inquiries I have written up a basic guide to keyboard commands for this editor. Enjoy. Jeff MP3 Direct Cut is a free direct mp3 editor, splitter, cutter and recorder. Download MP3 DirectCut from http://www.mpesch3.de Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar. During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will decrease it. Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and page-down. The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two. The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the configuration menu. How to mark beginning and end points of a selection for deletion, saving as a separte file, etc: While playback is stopped, Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection The following commands use the numbers row above the letter keys, not the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard. These commands move by frame. One frame is roughly a 38th of a second: 1: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the left 2: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the right 3: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the left 4: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the right With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of a selection are: F5: Plays the two seconds before the beginning mark of a selection F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection F8: Plays the two seconds after the end mark of a selection F9: Plays a portion of the file around the selection as if the selection had been deleted To remove a selection one can press the delete key. This does not touch the MP3 file. It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index. Therefore, cuts are made quickly. There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection into a different file. For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with the opportunity to choose its own filename. and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or edit it to something different. To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can use the pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system. It will set a marker before each song. These markers are actually selections with a length of zero. To check the markers, one can go from one to the other with Control cursor right and Control cursor left. The file can then be split according to the markers. Or one can save a cue sheet file or an MP3 DirectCut project file. Both would contain the markers. With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in an MP3 file. To go to a specific time position within the audio file, use Control-p. The displayed edit box is a bit odd. Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers for the current file position. One has to leave in place the apostrophes, which separate hours minutes and seconds. The program needs these apostrophes Then, there are the recording shortcuts. r: Opens the record dialog, in which sighted people can adjust the recording level p: Starts the recording, when the recording dialog is open s: Stops the recording. The fact that it does not have to unpack compressed files to edit them means that editing does not result in audio quality loss. It is a must-have in your toolkit. Hello, Angel and List, I use a Zoom H4N recorder for many reasons. First, it provides 48 volts for certain condenser mikes. Next, it is very easy to move between internal and external mikes. Next, there's a buffer which holds 2 seconds of audio. What this means is that if you're in a situation in which you don't know when a permance will start, the buffer avoides your missing the first 2 seconds. In other words, as soon as you hear the beginning of what you're going to record, you press the record button and those first seconds will be there just az though you knew when to start recording in the b/ place. Next, because recordings are made on sd cards, it is possible to dump the contents of those cards right to your computer. I have a textfile written by Neal Ewers and Tom Kingston which does a great job of describing the recorder and how to make it as accessible as possible. Even if you found a recorder which might be better than this one, chances are that it won't have instructions made to help blind users. I doubt that I should put all that on this list, but if you decide to get the machine, I will send you the material off list. Let me know if I can be of more help. The title of this list if pretty self explanatory I should think, the uni-audio (Universal Audio) mailing list is pretty much open to any audio topic, that can be anything from an audio editor for Windows or Mac to the latest FM radio station which has opened, a music subscription service, an iPhone app for audio, your 1923 radio set using a cats whisker etc. For more information and subscription details see http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/uni-audio To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

I am not needing something with lots of bells and whistles such as surround sound, just something with high quality input and output, where the software to control it is screen reader friendly. I realise this question has been asked numerous times before, but I wasn't interested at the time and didn't take note of any recommendations. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
