Re: Configuring Router for Shoutcast Plug-in

2004-10-31 Thread Jeff - The Ultra Guy
Are you sure you need to do anything? Have you tried streaming? I
don't have that brand of router, but I didn't have to do anything
special in order to stream. I don't think it blocks any outbound
ports.

I have a DLINK router, and I want to configure it so that I can use a
Shoutcast server.

1. How do I determine what my computer's IP address is, the one the
router
needs to pass ports through to?

2. How can I specifically open ports 8000 and 8001?

If your answer is just that you think my router is crap, then please
don't
bother yourself with answering. This is what I've got.

Well, I've bypassed the router, so when I can get someone to test, I'll
try streaming again.

2004-10-31 Thread rob
1. Your computer should be set to automatically obtain IP address. it gets
its address from your router.
2. Open your web interface either
http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1
enter your password admin no username
go to applicttions and gaming
the first box is for the name of program using the port
box2 starting port number i.e. 8000
ending port number 8001
state whether its tcp udp or both
box 3 IP address of computer. You can check it in the network section
startMenu
settings
network
LAN
ctrl+tab to support
it should have your IP address here
another way to get it is to go to
startMenu
run
ipconfig

After entering your IP address check the next box to enable then save.

Re: Configuring Router for Shoutcast Plug-in

2004-10-31 Thread Brian Olesen
Yo Bruce,
first you'll have to manually decide witch ip adress your server is on.
You'll have to make a fixed adress like 192.168.1.25 or something else you
decide yourself.

There are then at least 2 things to do on the router.
1. Exclude this particular adress from your dhcp scope.
2. Open and forward the decided ports in virtual server to the specified
adress.

You find these things in the advanced setup part of your router.
Good luck

I have that router and you don't have to do anything to configure it, just
start streaming.
