My reply to the original post didn’t come through so I’ll try again.

Rather than fiddling around I suggest your first port of call be the Total

the FAQ sheets there.

Hi Don.
I highly recommend the kernel mode filter driver if you are using 8.x.
The reason is you can use the same features with software recording
without an actual driver present on the system.

Hope this helps.

Thankfully I've never had that problem with this software though I have had
problems where the installation just sat there doing nothing, don't know how I
fixed that one either smile.

The Total Recorder tech support area is extremely handy and very helpful so if
you continue to experience this problem then look them up, you may be required
to submit a couple of screen shots so the technical people can see exactly
what's going on.

First, make sure you have lane_enc.dll set up in this
folder: C:\WINDOWS\system\Lame_Enc.Dll

Next, go into the Recording Source and Perameters dialog, and make
sure Convert using Recording format specified below is
checked. then hit space on the Change button to open the dialog to
set the recording format. You will have a combo box to choose the
file format, also various presets for common formats.

Hope this helps.

If you are using the sound card rather than total recorder's

Re: Total recorder question

2005-07-08 Thread Dean Martineau
Hi, Don. I finally tested that Total Recorder problem, to review, we're in
the advanced dialog of the Auto-stop recording feature telling the program
when to stop recording. The second check box lets us say that if nothing is
recorded for a given number of seconds, the recording should end. I first
cleared the value that was automatically inserted in the duration field,
then went into the advanced dialog where this checkbox is found. It worked
perfectly. I told TR to quit if nothing was recorded for 40 seconds, and
to shut down Winamp when it was done. I launched a sound in Winamp,
stopped the sound and less than a minute later it did what I told it to
do. Again, I haven't tried 5.2, though it doesn't seem likely this would
be broken. I think a key is making sure that initial duration field is
cleared.

Don, good mystery. I think the culprit here may be phantom information
from a screen reader. In sum, I'm going to suggest that you write to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] with the question, explaining that you use a
screen reader, then please share your answer with me. They are very
responsive.

I haven't moved to 5.2, still using 5.1. I hadn't poked my head into the
auto-stop recordingdialog, so thanks for the opportunity.

Using JFW, I don't see the problem you report. Maybe I'm misunderstanding,
not unlikely. In advanced stop recording conditions, there are three
checkboxes, each of which expands when checked so that relevant data can be
offered. The first limits the recording to a size, the second says that if
nothing has been recorded for a given length of time, stop, and the third
lets you be more elaborate, saying that if the sound threshold does not
exceed a given percentage for a given period of time, we stop, as long as a
certain specified minimum recording length has been achieved. I haven't
looked at the dialog with WE.

That's how I read it. Let's figure out where the reality lies.

Dean, Window-Eyes reds the text the same as JFW. Believe me, I have
tried it as I have a demo of JFW 6.2 on my system. The problem is that
if one selects that second check box and specifies a period of time,
Total Recorder continues to record, long after the specified amount of
time has elapsed.

Please test this and let me know what you find.

do an alt o, hit enter. go to the split tab, tab once, check that.
tab once and you'll be on conditions. hit that, tab four times, check that,
tab twice, check that. it'll be pretty self exclamitory

Subject: total recorder question

Is there a way to have total recorder record all files in a directory to
MP3 and hopefully use file names? Thank you. Kurt

Here's how I have my settings if this is any help to you, I have no trouble
here.

Firstly, I have Total Recorder as my default playback and recording driver,
this I set upnder Audio Devices, under Sounds in the Windows Control Panel.

Try setting the following options under the Total Recorder Options Menu
under System Settings and see how you get on, you probably have many of
them set already.

Make sure that the Turn Off System Sounds check-box is checked.

Set the playback and recording device to your Sound card.
Check the Use directly check-box for both playback and recording
For the preferred audio devices radio button, check the use total recorder
driver when total recorder isn't active.
check the High Priority check-box
Under the restrictions page disable the accellarated recording unless you
have real need of this function.

Now go into Winamp and go into Preferences, arrown down the tree and select
the plug-ins branch and then select output plug-ins. Press tab twice to
get to the list of output plug-ins available.

Select the waveout plug-in from the list box and tab to the configure
button. Press tab a few times itll you get to the output device combo-box
and be sure! that this is set to your sound card rather than the Microsoft
Sound Mapper, Playback through Total recorder etc , press ok when done and
press the close button to get out of the preferences dialog.

Hope all this wind helps.

Hi listers,

Due to some audio issues I recently changed my Total Recorder settings and
cannot remember how they should be. I have the wavout selected through my
Soundblaster Live card, the checkboxes for using preferred devices are
unchecked, and the Total Recorder driver box is checked. The problem is
that this creates a conflict in Winamp with the wavout plugin so that I
cannot use JAWSwith Eloquence while running Winamp or else get an error
message because the TR driver tries to take over. I have the Direct Sound
plugin which I think addresses this, but when I tried to configure it I
received an error message about a bad driver or something. I hope this
makes sense and that someone familiar with Total Recorder can remind me how
to fix this. I'm using JFW 4.02 and Windows 98 and Winamp 2.95. Many
thanks in advance.

Susan

Is there an easier way to do this?

Hello
The easiest way to get your registration code back for Total Recorder is to
go to the High Criteria web cite. When my email changed I had to do this.
There is a place to contact support. You should send them your email
address. They will contact you with your registration code for the product
if you request it.
