Hi,

Actually it's Frank and Eric. :) The thread still sums up what's important
here: It's not necessary to use Eric's objects in Pd. They may be useful in
Max/MSP and they provide some nice functionality besides accuracy, but the
accuracy you get with vline~ and Pd's clock objects (metro, delay, etc.)
already is subsample-exact, so it's fine for many cases and as good as what
you get with [samm~] and relatives. Just use [metro].

 oops.

so, your wording in the final sentence should be something like so it's
fine for many cases and MORE PRECISE as what you
get with [samm~] and relatives. Just use [metro]?

I don't think, it's more precise, I think, Eric's objects are just an
alternative approach to get the same precision as you get with vline~. IIRC
Eric wasn't aware of vline~ when he wrote his objects.

just to ask beforehand: between the bang starting the event and vline~
there are a couple of patches: getting the counter nr, segment
references, quantisation etc, all in message level (with vanilla and
extra objects). But if the initial bang is block-precise (wherever in
the audio block it should be), all message objects should behave fine?

which are Pd's clock objects you described above, all objects in the
 time section of pd-van?

Yes, but of course people can write externals that use Pd's internal clock just
as metro, delay or pipe do. Contrasting these you may have a non-clock message,
for example if you click a [bang( message. This will actually not be activated
at the exact time that you click it, but always on a block boundary.

will also pd-ext objects behave in the same
way, provided that it's not their function to include more delays?
I'll rephrase the question, if between bang and vline~ I put an external
doing a multiplication or something, will it delay the message? (I guess
the answer is no, but want to be sure)

The usual message transformation objects don't change the timing of the
original message. Pd is deterministic, so you can assume that all the
message calculations etc. that you do happen at the same time.

Timing problems occur only when you leave or enter this message realm, for
example when converting messages to (and from) audio signals, because audio
signals
in Pd are block based. The gory details are in Miller's TTEM-book:
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/techniques/latest/book-html/node40.html

Especially note the subchapters:
Control streams
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/techniques/latest/book-html/node43.html
and
Converting controls to signals
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/techniques/latest/book-html/node52.html
and help patch: C04.control.to.signal.pd

[PD] real-time tuning patch or object ?

2012-01-26 Thread Фывапр Олджэвич
Hi !

Did anyone try to do real-time tune-corrector (like Melodyne or autotune) in PD
?

I really wanted to work with differently tuned recorded peoples words in
realtime..

i mean being able to correct it via midi-keyboard in real-time, like vocoder..

But vocoder seems to be too synthetic in sound.

And simple pitch-shifting is also sounds bad and is heavy.

any advice ?

Thank you !!

you should not.

lots of packages that were originally only available via
debian-multimedia are now in debian proper.

debian and debian-multimedia are not coordinated (nor associated) in any
way, this basically means that if you add debian-multimedia to your
apt-sources you are asking for trouble.

this is why i have dumped d-m on all the computers i'm maintaining for
some time now.

if you really need it (i think, apart from some codecs, decent
dvd-authoring tools are still only available via d-m) you might try:

- - remove d-m from your apt-list
- - remove all (now obsolete) packages that you intalled from d-m
- - install debian's native multimedia packages (e.g. gem), without any
dependency hell
- - re-add d-m to your apt-list
- - use apt-pinning [1] to avoid installing d-m packages if not requested
explicitely.

that was a good guess, i found a stray b in the project file.
but i didn't do it.
i downloaded everything again from the git.
it's in the win-vs2008 gem.vcproj

FTGL.lib ws2_32.lib pthreadVC.lib

so, taking this out (and the freetype FTGL libs) it got again stuck with
a missing
pthreadVC.lib.

it was already very hard to find the needed pthread.h.
(i did clean up my disc's and then it was gone).
it's not in the 'regular' gits of pd-van or pd-ext.
i only found something following a download advise for the Pd/sources in
the page for building Pd on Windows .

but no pthreadVC.lib or pthread.lib.

googling didn't bring me useful wisdom here.

There are many external libraries written by people all over the world.
These libraries provide objects like the ones you list. You can find
many of them here:

http://puredata.info/downloads

As for the manual, I agree that it should only reference objects
included in Pd-extended, unless they are marked as externals. Anyone
can edit the FLOSS Manuals Pure Data book, so I recommend that you mark
the objects that are not in Pd-extended.

It's for 4 effects only at the moment, but it could easily be adapted to

Tu pourrais aussi produire ta matrice à l'aide de [#many]. Ça serait plus
flexible parce que tu serais pas limité à une simple séquence.

Re: [PD] Apply missing

 hi list, hans,

i noticed that in the current autobuilds of Pd-extended the property dialogs

IMHO this is a bug - if you want to adjust for instance a canvas to be the
same size as another object of unknown size you can do that with a few clicks
and the help of the Apply button. If you have to click OK and then go to
context menu-Properties, set the size, OK repeately to do that it's simply
 annoying.

That seems like a good enough reason, I brought back the Apply button to
the iemgui Properties panel on Mac OS X. It was originally moved since
the whole OK, Apply, Cancel is very Windows-like, but there isn't an
easy way to make to work better, so the Apply button is back. IMHO,
when you change the setting, it should take effect immediately.

[PD] added translations from transifex to Pd-extended

2012-01-26 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

I went thru and added the translations from transifex, so they should be in
tomorrow's build. Download a build and test your translation:

http://autobuild.puredata.info/auto-build/latest/

I'll do one more round of updates for the translations before the Pd-extended
final release, so we can include any bugfixes and/or updates.
