OT Mac help

2024-05-15 Thread David J Brooks
Hi gang

So my new iMac 24" is working reasonably well, and am happy with it so far,
M3 chip.

However I have two older external HDs that are about 6 or 7 years old and a
new external HD that is my new Time machine. My back us are labeled 7 and
7a, for the most part 7 does not show up at all anymore but 7a and time
machine do, but, when i let the machine g to sleep for a while and wake it
up, 7a does not appear and sometime Time machine does not appear in the
side bar.

I have to restart the machine.

OIm using a usb hub to usbC device and have tried directly connecting hd7a
and 7 but with little luck, after waking up 7a does not appear.
I also bought a new cable for the hD'ds.

Any thoughts, is my time machine drive showing up as more stable cause its
new??

OT Photoshop 2024 help

2024-02-04 Thread David J Brooks
Hi all

Back in Dec my mid 2010 imac died and i recently replaced it with a 24"
imac M3.
I had to update my LR and PS to subscription base and did so last week
I'm not to good at PS, much better at LR, but one thing I use PS for is
flipping lens balls and trying to clone out a tripod mount if not holding
the ball in my finger.
I'm horrible at it and was hoping PS 2024 would be easier to do so it in
but i'm pulling my hair out to get content aware to do so,

I've looked at a number of utubes but nothing seems to work or cannot
locate the buttons or links needed todo so.

Asking the group if anyone has any helpful links they'd like tos hare,

Dave .

Hey all. My old 2010 iMac has had it and I ordered a new 24” iMac delivery

confused with the new naming structure.
I just got a email from Matt K regarding a LR 7 that allows for desktop
editing from folders on your own HD, but I’m confused about the names,
Lightroom, Lightroom classic, Lightroom cc etc.
Isthe new edition still subscription based but I have the option to use the
cloud or is it one time fee like the olden days
I confuse easily, as some may be aware, so any help is appreciated
I have looked at Matt K’s short video but still confused on Nan’s and plans

take forever to do anything when I ask to delete permanently, have i made a
big mistake here or is there a way to speed up the delete process? Mid 2010

it tries to erase but at the end gets this error:"The operation can’t be

PESO: One More Tree #3

2023-04-30 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
This is the third in my series of images fitting the May PUG theme of "One
Tree."

I found this tree while exploring the gardens of Birr Castle Demesne in
County Offaly, Ireland. The demesne includes not only an impressive
ancient castle surrounded by beautiful gardens, but also a Science Center
that features what was for many years the largest telescope in the world.

I was leaning against this gumtree for support while photographing the
gardens, when I noticed the unique texture and color of its bark. I
submitted it to the Pentax Photo Gallery, and, to my surprise, it was
selected as the image of the day. It has always been one of my favorite
images:

PESO: One More Tree #2

2023-04-29 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
Continuing with my series of images fitting the May PUG theme of "One
Tree," I found this image from the Ulupalakua Ranch, in Kula, Maui, Hawai’i.
There are many working cattle ranches in Hawai'i, especially on Maui and
the Big Island. Much of the management of the herds is still done
by Paniolos on horseback, as the terrain is in places too rough even for
ATVs.

Ulupalakua Ranch, established in 1845, contains over 11,000 acres of
historic land along the leeward slopes of Haleakalā Volcano. It was a
favorite retreat for King Kalākaua, "The Merrie Monarch,: when it was
known as Rose Ranch. In addition to beef cattle and elk, it encompasses
Maui's only operating vineyard.

Several unique trees were planted there in the mid 19th century, including
this magnificent specimen:

2023-04-29 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
Since I had surgery in early April, and am recovering slowly, I have been
unable to get outside and take new images.

I did, however, have time to root through a lot of older images, searching
for ones that might qualify for the "One Tree" theme.
I submitted one to the May PUG that brings back fond memories of a very
special place.
Since I came up with several others that I like, I thought I might run them
by the group, one by one, to see if any appeal to others as well.

The first is an image I recently submitted as a PESO, but should have save
