John, I offer my heartfelt condolences. Yo did the right thing. It’s rarely on
our terms that our pets have to leave us. It seems unfair that their lives as

I had to take Baxter to the vet tonight. She was 21 years old and was barely
eating. I managed to coax a bit of food into her the last week by puréeing
chicken breast & chicken broth in a blender.

But today she wouldn't even eat that.

Then when she jumped out of my lap this evening she couldn't walk, couldn't
stand up.

The vet said she had severe kidney failure and could probably live another week
with three days of IV fluids and if I'd learn how to give her subcutaneous
fluids at home. But even with that massive intervention, she wasn't going to
last much longer.

I was afraid she was going to suffer too much so I had her euthanized. It was
time. I wasn't ready & I didn't want to, but it was the best thing for Baxter.

Odd - I took my mother's dog to the vet yesterday with kidney failure! The dog
is now having IV feeding as she was very dehydrated and hadn't eaten for some
days, so my mother is hoping the dog will be around for another few months at
least - it's 19 years old too!

Beautiful cat, John. Sorry for your loss. I've recently fallen in love with a
rambunctious little Miki dog—Japanese breed; about the size of an average
cat—so I can easily imagine your loss.

I saw 'Baxter' ang got confused (easily doen with me!) but I feel John's pain -

couldn't stand up.

The vet said she had severe kidney failure and could probably live
another week with three days of IV fluids and if I'd learn how to give
her subcutaneous fluids at home. But even with that massive
intervention, she wasn't going to last much longer.

I was afraid she was going to suffer too much so I had her euthanized.
It was time. I wasn't ready & I didn't want to, but it was the best

Really sorry for you. We've had the experience a few times in the last 5
years. Last one was Ambrosius, on our return from our Xmas holiday, not
even 3 years old, with a severe heart condition. We could have battled
on with loads of medication and a high chance of more complications. We
discussed things with our vet and we agreed we wouldn't do him a favour.

21 years is quite something for a cat. Think of the good times you've had.

We've just returned from a 2 weeks vacation and our Ambrose, a mere 2

We'll take him to the vet tomorrow or Tuesday and see what, if anything,

We've a number of outdoor cats in the neighborhood. Some of them are
friendly, but I'm afraid to pet them lest I bring FeLV inside to my own
cat. I will chase 'em out of the street - doing my part to keep 'em from
getting run over.

The names were a bit of wit. Half anyway.

Back when I got them, there were two people who frequently appeared on
NPR's All Things Considered; a retired school teacher from Georgia named
Bailey White and Baxter Black the Cowboy Poet and large animal
veterinarian.

If I'd really been clever, I'd have named the white one Baxter and the
black one Bailey and made it a double pun or something.

If it is successfull we'll be on 102.7 FM with 50 Watts of pure power
at out sides.:-)

I know most don't care, but for someone who loved doing radio in the
70's and has a time slot and show theme arranged if it fly's, i managed
a smile today.

You guys gonna stream your signal in the net?

Don't know, I have not asked, but i think so. Right now they are doing
all the local hockey broadcast's , on the net .Not sure if its live or
podcasts, or both.

Hres is the link.: http://www.whistleradio.com It says live hockey
broadcasts.
Does that give you a clue what they are doing Mark.?? I'm not even sure
how to get to the podcasts. I have a lot of catching up to do i'm
afraid.vbgThe 70's were a simpler time.:-)

Hi Dave
I wish you all the best with that radio project and would like to have an
ear full over web radio when it starts?
I did radio on http://www.lora.ch/webradio.php 5 years ago once a month
Friday at 8 in the night with music and guests, that's where my email dress
ohrbit still comes from. Lora is an alternative radio station in Zurich
with around 300 volunteers broadcasting in 17 languages mostly for
minorities.

greetings
Markus

Great stuff, an unrestricted radiation pattern at 50W will get you a long way,
few community stations here have those power levels (tech: do you know if the
50W is the ERP at the antenna or the transmitter power?)

An on-air spot should be demanding but great fun, just don't get sucked in by
the politics and enjoy.

Cheers,
