Thanks for looking, Bipin and Bob.

Out little town's parade is quite an event. There are six bagpipe and
drum banks, three HS bands, lots of scout, sports and martial arts
groups, the Irish Wolfhound Club, Llamas, patriotic and military
units, and more than 60 emergency vehicle from all over the area.

It's a Philadelphia tradition on New Year's Eve, but some of the bands
take out-of-town gigs to publicize the Big Parade in the City of

Your Christian Brothers were very different from the ones who ran my prep
school. Their motto was 'spare the rod and spoil the child'.

Ignorant, brutal, superstitious thugs, every single one of them.

"Boys were prepared for passing exams by a combination of relentless study and
remorseless use of the strap, an 8in-long leather baton which thrashed young
hands, legs and bottoms with all the regularity of the chiming of the angelus
bell."

Awesome St. Patrick Day parade photos Sir.
The very colorful dresses makes the event more photogenic.

I remember St. Patrick's Day was very special in our Boarding Public
School run by the Christian Brothers of Ireland.
There would be feasting throughout the day, with our own parades,
movies & late night swimming with hot chocolate.

Regards.

Actually, that is the Aqua String Band from Philadelphia.

PESO - Mummers

2014-11-29 Thread Mark C

http://www.markcassino.com/b2evolution/index.php/mummers

The caption on the blog post explains it all...

Pentax Q, 01 Normal Prime, ISO 3200.

I made a few mistakes last year - I brought the Q with normal zoom and
normal prime lens, not considering that low light is not the Q's forte.
Afer trying the normal zoom for a while I switched to the faster prime
lens, but never actually opened the aperture up. So I wound up shooting
at f 4.5 instead of f 1.9, which would have been better. The Q at ISO
3200 is not super good...

We are going back this year and i plan to take the K3 and 50mm f1.7. I
go there more to hang out with friends than to take photos, but this rig
might work better.
