OT: Music from our musicians?

2004-03-11 Thread John Mustarde
Glenn's post got me to thinking - we have some very talented musicians
on the list, where's the music? So drag out those links, post 'em if
you got 'em. I'd love to hear some of Glenn's tunes, for sure. Hey,
maybe he'll produce a Best Of PDML cd... and Amita already the cover
shot!

I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I am an appreciative fan. My
son-in-law plays bass with this band:

His name is Adam, he is third from left in the topmost photo on the
main page. The one with the decent haircut. He's Canadian, hopefully
they will get rich and famous and he can buy a nice trophy house in
Scottsdale so our daughter will be close to her mom.

Listening with earplugs firmly inserted is strongly advised.

Cool. Now I feel ok to post this -

(you may need to right click on the link and open in a new window)

Please bear in mind I've never had a guitar lesson, and this is the first
time I'd played in front of anyone. Felt more nervous than the first time I
shot a wedding...

Yes, that's #7 on vocals.

Jerome, this is about an hour after you called me regarding your CF card.

Man, I'm getting some cool tunes out of this thread!
The CAM stuff sounds very Syd Barrett-ish. I love Jet Station!
Tom, you need a video to go with your tune. The automatic techno op-art
of Windows Media Player just doesn't work for your song :)
Though it's just right for Steve's stuff!

I don't have an acoustic bass so I'll just have to bring my acoustic
guitar. Since I'm not really a guitarist this could be interesting...

Is it worth it for me to see whether I can tweak the intonation
of my homebrew frankenbass back into the playable range and send
it to GFM with someone heading there from this area? I won't
miss it for a few weeks if it takes a while to come back to me.

(It's an electric bass neck transplanted onto an acoustic guitar
that had a bolt-on neck. It sounds suprisingly good for such a
small body, but it's mechanically unstable, so the action creeps
higher and higher over time and it eventually needs to be taken
apart and reassembled to make it playable again. It's name is
Adam, after Dr. Frankenstein's creation.)

When is GFM again?

I'm still debating about bringing my mandolin, but I'm as rusty as a C3PO
in a flotation tank. My fingers are soft as cheese - I might pick it up
this weekend and start pickin

I play at Mountain Dulcimer, my wife could be quite good on
the hammered dulcimer but doesn't have time to practice. The
commercial musician in the family is my wife's nephew, the
bassist with Richmond Fontaine, a Portland OR based
alt-country rock band. (That is what it says on their web
site. I wouldn't be able to tell alt-contry rock from
alt-rock country.) I actually quite like their last release.
