Apparently I must install a down-level version of QuickTime to view it.

It's telling me QuickTime 7.2 is required to play this movie. I'm
currently at QuickTime v.7.6

You have a bit of David Lynch in you, Joe. Didn't know the W90 could do
that. Hmmm...could consider getting one

RE: Overnight snow time lapse (Pentax W90)

2011-03-08 Thread Joe Wilensky
The W90 lets you do it in camera -- set interval (one photo every five minutes)
and total duration (I think this was 7.5 hours) and then shutter button to take
the first photo and start the process. Result when finished is an .avi file
(size/framerate based on the movie settings the camera was already set to).

On tripod, of course. Screen stays off and camera is in powersave between
shots. It will let you check on progress (time remaining) by pressing the power
button (this also gives you an option to end the interval shoot early).

Overnight snow time lapse of my back porch in Ithaca, N.Y. I think we had 8
inches or so already at the time I started the time lapse around 11 p.m.
 We've
ended up with 18 inches or so, though it's hard to tell with all the drifting

My Pentax W90 is the first digital camera I've owned that has a movie time

That's pretty neat, Joe. An excellent reason to get a W90.
