Pentax FA 28-105

2005-06-03 Thread Toralf Lund
Just came across another FS zoom - a 28-105, this time. Not 100% sure
which variant it is, but I think it's most likely to be this one:

http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/zooms/short/FA28-105f4-5.6-ii.html

As usual, I would like to ask for opinions on the performance,
reasonable price level etc.

Hmmm... Seems like I've been posting a lot to this list lately. Must be
a slow week at work...

Re: Pentax FA 28-105

2005-06-03 Thread Joe Wilensky
I picked this zoom up in the all-black version
http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/zooms/short/FA28-105f4-5.6-ii_black.jpg
(much nicer looking than the silver, I think) from KEH. As it has the
reputation of being the worst of the three Pentax 28-105 variants
(and a Tamron rebadged lens), I didn't know what to expect, but it
performs quite well. I have had all three 28-105 types at one time
and I still have this lens and the power zoom. This IF lens is sharp,
contrasty, and significantly lighter and more compact than the
powerzoom version, even though it takes 62mm filters. It comes with
the bayonet hood and the barrel doesn't rotate when focusing, so
polarizers are easier to use (although the hood doesn't have the
little removable door at the bottom, like the new 28-105, which makes
using a polarizer even easier). And though it shares the telescoping
barrel design of the new 28-105, making it seem long and a bit
delicate when zoomed out to 105mm, it feels a bit sturdier than the
newest 28-105 version (though the powerzoom still feels the sturdiest
of all three).

It should sell, used, for about $125 USD in excellent-plus condition
from a retailer, closer to $100 on eBay, perhaps.

FS: Pentax FA 28-105 F4-5.6 (Pentax Made)

2005-01-21 Thread Chad
I have for sale the FA 28-105 F4-5.6 (58mm thread) zoom lens. It is in
EX+ condition. This is the Power Zoom version that Pentax made. Its a
nice lens and takes great photos. I'm selling it since it has become
redundant. I have other lenses now with those focal lengths. It will
come with the caps.

Asking $85 plus your choice of shipping.

Thanks,
Chad

FS: Pentax FA 28-105 f/4-5.6 powerzoom

2002-12-06 Thread Joe Wilensky
As I wrote in a previous message, I recently picked up the new Pentax
28-105 f3.2-4.5 lens in black for my PZ-1 (though if I had known that
BH would start offering the black version and listing it as an
imported item ...)

I'm now offering for sale the 28-105 powerzoom lens I got a couple of
months ago from a list member. It's in very nice shape, great glass
and very good + cosmetics. It's just so much larger and heavier than
the two 28-105 versions that followed it ... and I don't really use
the power zoom functions.

Images from it are sharp and contrasty, though, it has nice flare
control and focuses quite close.

Photos of the lens are at:
http://people.clarityconnect.com/webpages/wilensky/eBay/28-105_side.jpg
http://people.clarityconnect.com/webpages/wilensky/eBay/28-105_rear.jpg

There is a small crack around the plastic collar of the zoom set
button on the side of the lens, which doesn't affect function at all:
http://people.clarityconnect.com/webpages/wilensky/eBay/28-105_button.jpg

I'm asking $150, a bit less than I paid for it.

If anyone would like a package deal that includes a well-used FA
28-70 f/4, I'll let both go for $200 including shipping.

It looks like the power zoom model. Seller probably just doesn't know.
Ask for a photo of the other side to see if the pz switch is there. Good
price - grab it.

Joe

P.S. I've found that this lens balances nicely on the MZ-S.

I agree, it looks like my 28-105 PZ lensand you would think the seller should know
as the seller is Columbus Camera Group in Ohio..scares me if a camera store cannot
recognize what model a standard zoom lens actually is. But then again, maybe they do
not know what the price ought to be either! :)

Looks exactly like my FA28-105 with power zoom. It could be that the seller
doesn't have a body with the power zoom contacts and therefore doesn't think
it available. However, the ring that switches from power to manual should
still work.

Did/does Pentax make a black lens like the above that was *not* a Power
Zoom?

I'm looking at an auction that shows what appears to be a PZ model but the
seller says it's not.

 The item number is: 1319691502

 Advise??

 Thanks!

If the seller has the box, finding the product number would go a long way toward
identifying which version of the lens it is.

As I understand it, the new Pentax 28-105 is a genuine Pentax lens, and is
