Re: PESO: Hermit Silhouette

I like the saturated silhouette much better. Next thing I would try is
to brighten the background and reduce contrast within it or desaturate
or whatever to go a bit more high key. But it is a really nice shot
definitely well worth the edit

Re: PESO: Hermit Silhouette

2010-02-17 Thread Jack Davis
Thanks much, Paul. Since he was riding the center of the reed patch, I felt
the most comfortable placing it as is. Had the critter been right or left, I'd
have placed the reed patch in the same position and have been fine to have him
out of the middle, so long as he was looking toward the center. The form and
length of this reed patch had to be centered..for me to relish my vittles.
I do appreciate the suggestion! :-)

Looks good on my monitor. I like it.
Have you tried cropping, so the bird is off center? That
might be more effective. But a nice shot as presented.

Yeah, I effectively bumped the contrast by darkening the shadows slightly.

Thanks, much!

Nice evocative shot, though.

Actually I've found it in my Field Guide to North American Birds to be a
Grey Blue Heron. I dodged it, at someones suggestion, and discovered the
markings. My renderings were all silhouettes.
