I like the saturated silhouette much better. Next thing I would try is to brighten the background and reduce contrast within it or desaturate or whatever to go a bit more high key. Nice scene - not an eagle, but very nice anyway. On my main monitor I can see detail - not anywhere near jet black. On my secondary monitor it is a little darker but some detail can still be seen. Thanks much, Paul. Since he was riding the center of the reed patch, I felt the most comfortable placing it as is. Had the critter been right or left, I'd have placed the reed patch in the same position and have been fine to have him out of the middle, so long as he was looking toward the center. The form and length of this reed patch had to be centered..for me to relish my vittles. Nice photo, but i think i like the bW shot just abit more. Actually I've found it in my Field Guide to North American Birds to be a Grey Blue Heron. I dodged it, at someones suggestion, and discovered the markings. My renderings were all silhouettes.
