 Hi:

I was looking at the web site of one of our local art gallerys. They have
a program called something on sundays where they get people to
participate in some sort of art related project.

I thought this would be an ideal venue for some sort of pinhole day
project. I've asked them if they are interested in doing something on
 this.

I was looking through last years gallery and thought maybe if I get people
making their own pinhole shots that the gallery could exhibit them at some
 point.

It then struck me, a really cool thing would be to make a travelling
exhibition of real pinhole camera day shots. That is to have people
from all over the world to lend/give their pinhole day shots and create
 an exhibition of these.

I've not been involved in the art world for years, I wonder if something
 like this is possible?

I like this idea. I would frame my image from WPPD 2001 and mail it to a
gallery for a show, even for a short term show.. I bet I could get one
of the local galleries here in Baltimore to offer space, as long as it
isn't already committed. Maybe the work travels not like a traditional
traveling show from place to place but from the web to many locations
and all are open on Sunday April 28,

filters. Can I use them when making positves as well as negatives? I'm
using Ilford paper for negatives. Thanks.

 Chris

The effect of the filters is the same as when using them within your enlarger.
The lesser numbers may be helpful when the contrast of the scene is great.
OTOH, if the contrast range of the scene is not great, you will end up with a
muddy mess, so run some tests.

You can make positives by contact printing your negatives.

Nice picture, Steve.

Your home work space seems much more organized than mine (based on the model
of Random Access...).

Re: the vignetting, I've long stopped worrying about it and actually build
on it to enhance the dynamics of the image. It works well with you picture.

Cheers,

It actually makes for an interesting photo with
the vignette there.

The e-mail system split the line that the url was on

Re: [pinhole-discussion] polaroid conversion

2002-01-09 Thread JAMES301
Ray ,

Thank you for that vote of confidence!
The Polaroid 101, 104 and 210 are fairly common and the world will not cry
if these camera are altered.

The Model 250 has a Zeiss rangefinder like the Model 100 so and this one to
your do not destroy list.

You may want to try the Positive /Negative pack film 665 which has an ASA/ISO
of 75. Expose for the picture and the negative matches it.

I love old Polaroids I was fortunate enough to use the roll film Polaroid

Re: [pinhole-discussion] polaroid conversion

2002-01-09 Thread Mike Vande Bunt

Yes, but there are thousands of them sitting in closets
and attics not being used. It is a great camera to use
for Polaroid Image/Emulsion transfers. The important
thing is that in addition to the (folding!) rangefinder,
there is a very nice tripod socket -- an almost vital
ingredient of a good pinhole camera.

Polaroid called that model the Automatic 100
to distinguish it from the older roll film model 100,
which used manual exposure setting. (And it really
does say Automatic 100 right on the camera: I
own 2 of them.)

I am assuming he meant Polaroid Model 100. Please don't convert a Model 100
because it has a beautiful Zeiss rangefinder that would be rendered usless
by the conversion from the Land List website find a cheaper candidate for
conversion.

[pinhole-discussion] ground glass

2002-01-09 Thread richard l. gifford
(re messages in December '01) Try polycarbonate resin (GE Lexan or
equiv). This is the shatterproof window glazing material, be sure it
isn't just acrylic (Rohm Haas Plexiglas or equiv), although that might
work as well for this relatively undemanding application. Cheap,
lightweight, easily trimmed etc at home, safer to work with, unbreakable
(bulletproof?) in the field. Use crocus cloth, available at your local
hardware store, lubricate with white kerosene. G Penate was looking for
something finer than 600 grit. Crocus cloth is equivalent to about 1200
grit.
