We discussed it at today's Plasma meeting and decided on Wednesday 6 March
for Plasma 5.27.11

These replies about a certain amount of bug-fix releases make me very happy
as a Kubuntu user.

Our next LTS will be released in March 2024, and thus can't be based on
Qt6, but we really look forward to the October 2024 release based on a
stable Qt6-based Plasma, Frameworks and apps release. Many of our users
rely on the LTS for even more stability, so we support that for 3 years.

It feels really good to see the Plasma devels having our backs! Autocorrect
made "devels" into devils! 

Agreed, I think it makes sense. Also maybe we should have a policy of
"don't avoid backporting just because no more releases are planned" as a
sufficient number of backported patched can indicate that we should do
another release.

I've seen enough patches over the last month that warrant putting into
5.27 with people not cherry-picking some major fixes because "there's
not going to be another release". I want to request that we do at
least one more spin some time in the next few months.

Agreed.

I also think it’s a bad mindset to have “there won’t be any 5.27
release”. We should for now treat backporting as if there will be
another one, given 6.0 isn’t even out yet.

I agree, while Plasma 6 is right around the corner, many distros won't
adapt it for some time. Major bugfixes and security fixes should
definitely continue being applied until such time that most major
distros have updated to 6.

I agree,
but as discussed in the meeting today, if we want to do a 5.27
release, we should backport the ci adaptations and make ci actually
work there
