Re: [libreoffice-projects] new project at libreofficebox.org
Hi Paulo, *, Am 18.08.2011 15:06 schrieb Paulo de Souza Lima: [..] BTW, There was an issue about hosting large ISO files in TDF servers. Not exactly. There was, and still is, an issue /uploading/ large files by means of the CMS. As we are not prepaired yet to grant file system access in a well fashioned way and additonally stopped runnig ftp services, it's kind of hassle to upload large files from private machines. No Problem to grab it from elsewhere and host it for download. Can anyone tell me what was decided about it? Our team is hosting ISO files (~ 2 GB) in proprietary servers until this moment. It's just a matter of finding a place to provide it for download. Here is the general download folder: http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/ for the moment the german iso is within the box/ folder. Probably we've to find a more suitable structure. By the way: I looked at the brasil pages at libreofficebox.org. Not shure the intention of the dvd page is clear: http://dvd.brasil.libreofficebox.org/ We use it to /author/ the content of the medium, so http://dvd.de.libreofficebox.org/ shows the *content* of our recent medium, whereas http://de.libreofficebox.org/ tells something about it including downloadpage and the like. Alright finished up that artwork-gallery files and moved on to the clipart files. Now things get a little more interesting. 1) Some of the files are shared between NA-DVD and the DE disc, and they exist therefore in the assets directory on the CMS - problem is they use German names for the sub-directories, and we of course use English. Is there a good way to handle this using SilverStripe so we both get what we want without duplicating files? I had a short look over it. As far as I see, only those subdirs containing german content carry german names. It's the 'screenshot' and 'templates' folder. Maybe some rework is needed on a couple of places to make it less confusing but in general no overall rework is required. then again - do we care if a sub-directory is in English or German, really it is just a click on a URL link on a HTML page right? As not familiar with the CMS capabilities: does move folders/files move the link depencies as well?? In this case making a more clear folder scheme might be an easy task ;o)). 2) The openClipArt files. Alright we have a few more then currently on the CMS system, so no problem we add those. But - there current files on the CMS system all use .tar.gz files and we used .zip. Anyone care? Not from my part. Don't really know openclipart. There is an .exe file - is that an application pulling more stuff from the tar.gz's? and just to think out loud here - since we need to re-link the stuff on the HTML pages anyway - I would not mind taking the .zip files I have, bursting the apart and recreating to .tar.gz before pushing them to the server - I suppose .gz isn't considered a problem for windows users any longer, huh not shure if this is necessary. Maybe it's worth a look, whether to harmonize those things. Maybe Uwe or Erich can give more usable comments. Re: [libreoffice-projects] [NA-DVD] Libo Install binaries
Hi drew, *, drew schrieb: Ok - another question. Looking at the CMS server and the shared directory structure for installation files there is a bit of a disconect between what is expected by the current DE disc project and the upcoming NA disc project. The current structure has the individual binary files on the disc. Which allows some coolness BTW, as in support for being a debian repository for updates. However, the current NA disc image uses the same compressed files one would download from the main LibO site. You'll find those in installer/libreoffice/ which intents to represent parts of http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/ But for the moment this isn't up to date - I'll do tonight (CEST). So - do we really want to have this double space used up to store? Yes, we do ;o)) In fact the original Binaries are (hard-)linked to the ones provided to the mirrors so space is used only once here. Ideas? We'll discuss later, as dinner and an evening walk is waiting for now. :o)) Gruß/regards -- Friedrich Libreoffice-Box http://libreofficebox.org/ LibreOffice and more on CD/DVD images -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to projects+h...@global.libreoffice.org Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/projects/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

As long as you continue authoring them on Your home machine there's no advantage over sticking with Your ftp space, though. But I am thinking about people who are in groups in the USA who are wanting to promote LibreOffice by handing out the latest version of someone's English DVD at the different meetings and events that these people/groups go to. There are events in the USA this week that could get the latest files from us [including the one that are in the theme and pics folders] that are not easily saved via a browser system. These people would not have access to our FTP account as some of the TDF/LibreOffice people now have [or at least I emailed them the user/password info]. There people who do not have FTP access NEEDS some other way to get the files and folders from us that is easy if they had FTP access, but hard if they only have browser access. I don't see any advantage of this procedure over providing recent, well aproved ISO-files. Of course that's very painful, as long as You think the preferred means creating those is Your home machine.
