[Qgis-user] Canvec symbology and access (Canadian Topo Maps)

2013-11-03 Thread John Abraham
I’m trying to build decent Canadian topo maps. The Toporama WMS Server http://wms.ess-ws.nrcan.gc.ca/wms/toporama_en? is quite nice, as long as you reorder the layers before importing, and remember to set the projection to something that you like. And the georeferenced scans of the paper topo maps are available (unfortunately most have their collars on still.)However the vector maps are also available from Canvec, as shape files (hereNational Topographic Data Base (NTDB), Canada)and supposedly as GML (somewhere else). I’d really like to use this vector data. The symbology they use in ArcMAP is documentedhttp://ftp2.cits.nrcan.gc.ca/pub/geogratis/faq/Procedureaddsymbologycanvec.pdfand this guy herehttp://glaikit.org/2010/05/23/untangling-canvec/ figures out the format layers a little better (his listing of features and their location is attached below.)Just wondering if:1) Anyone has a good QGIS symbology for these layers, and2) Anyone know of any WFS server for this data, so I don’t have to download files?(PS theyThanks,—John Abrahamcode, entity, attributes, type, name

[Qgis-user] Grouping points by proximity

2013-11-03 Thread Jesus Munoz Serrano
Dear listers,I have a vector point layer (showed below) with all the sightings registered for a specific species within a limited area. I want to place camera traps close to the areas where the animals have been seen.In order to find the locations where I could place the cameras to cover all the points using the fewer number of cameras I was thinking in aggregate the point features in groups depending of the proximity from ones to each others. I've been trying to do that with QGIS (version 2.0) but I could't find the way. Also checked on the internet but couldn't find any information for doing that.Is there a way to do it? Is there any other method for accomplish what I'm trying to??Thanks, jesus

[Qgis-user] Python Imaging Library for Mac and Python 2.7

2013-11-03 Thread Manuel Spínola
Dear list members,

I am using QGIS 2.0.1 Dufour in Mac OSX Mavericks and the Lecos plug-in ask
me for PIL (Python Imaging Library). I tried to install de the source kit (
http://effbot.org/downloads/Imaging-1.1.7.tar.gz) apparently the only
available for Python 2.7, but I cannot install it.

The last lines form my terminal:

In file included from _imagingtk.c:19:

*/usr/local/include/tk.h:71:13: **fatal error: **'X11/Xlib.h' file not
found*

#   include X11/Xlib.h

*^*

1 error generated.

error: command '/usr/bin/clang' failed with exit status 1

MacBook-Pro-de-Manuel:Imaging-1.1.7 manuelspinola$

How can I install PIL in my mac without use the source kit?

Try googling "Alpha shapes". It might
  do the trick.

I think, there is a alfa shape function inside spatialite 4

Re: [Qgis-user] qgis web client - blank page but with 200 returns from apache

Hi,

looks like you did not configure GlobalOptions.js

The qgis web client (http://54.245.123.168/maps/abwells) is giving me
a blank page from my wms at
http://54.245.123.168/wms/abwells?SERVICE=WMSVERSION=1.3.0REQUEST=GetCapabilities

It's just a test site so nothing fancy - playing with drop shadows and such.

You can use guest//guest as the user//pass.

It loads fine in qgis as both a wms and wfs using the url
http://54.245.123.168/wms/abwells

It went blank after I got the latest zip from the qgis web client github master.

Firebug in firefox looks like it fetches all the sites resources with
200 codes returned (successful).

I see similar responses in the access_log for apache 2.2 on opensuse 12.3

Anything else I could provide to help trouble shoot this?
