[Ql-Users] QL Today

2021-08-16 Thread Christopher Cave via Ql-Users
I am in the process of clearing my house to make it easier to run. Is
anyone interested these days in paper issues of QL Today and of Quanta
Magazine? These would, eventually, be available for collection in south
London. If not, they'll be recycled as I dig them out.

[Ql-Users] CSME : The Track

2021-04-24 Thread Christopher Cave via Ql-Users
My grovelling apologies to all for my earlier posting. The superficial
problem is that on my OLR the QL postbox is close to that of the CSME and
that the said OLR fills in addressees of new messages depending on what
one has just been reading. The real problem is lack of attention on my
part due to advancing years.

[Ql-Users] CSME : The Track

2021-04-24 Thread Christopher Cave via Ql-Users
Gentlemen

I should have written earlier but there you are! My impression is that
the track itself is in good order and that the same is true of the coach
bodies and seats. The tools for maintaining and erecting the track were
present. To my mind the only question marks are against the coach bogies
which must surely be due an overhaul (particularly if the coaches were to
be included in any sale) and the braking capacity of the train
(especially if hauled by a steam loco with no brakes of its own -
electric locos stop quite quickly when the power is cut).

Anyway thanks to you all for the work involved. If anyone is interested
on Tuesday we could try out Pop on the track.

[Ql-Users] CSME : Track

2021-04-04 Thread Christopher Cave via Ql-Users
Gentlemen
Should we propose to sell the track it might be a good idea to see what
we have sitting on the trailer. The track, supports and carriage have
been sitting under a heavy plastic cover for some years. I suggest we use
a Tuesday pm to get the stuff out and check it out - we could of course
set up some of the track in the back garden and even run a loco (POP ?)
on it!

Peter

Mary is unwell so I will not be around tomorrow.

As for Paul's suggestions, they are just what has drifted through my mind
as fixes for that point BUT we are still left with the problem that only
one bogie is involved from all those that run at Mill Lane. Your coaches
have a bogie joining two coaches which causes no problems. It has a
single central linking point so the bogie is free to rotate. Would this
be the same for a bogie tied to the coaches at its extremities? Might
Paul's not be constrained by the tension running through it from coach to
coach?

The lever pivots for the new point are in my car awaiting delivery.

I'm sorry to be so slow but are we talking about the QMenu v8 manual in
front of me?
