Excuse my absence of the conversation, I'm back from enjoying the only week of bad weather Lisbon has recently had. This problem is actually the main reason why 3.34 never officially left the Beta state, I had noticed it a few times myself and wanted to squash the bug first. Time passed but it never occurred again and I had no other negative feedback to go on. I think I did some changes later that might solve this and when I get everything running again you could try that (and I will hopefully be able to make a release soon). Problem is, Ontrack is still working on recovering my SSD it seems, I will hopefully know more when I get to work tomorrow. I should have stated that the problem doesn't happen on my netbook with Windows 7 starter (32-bit). On my Vista 32 bit I have had the same problem, but not always. So I usually try to remember to minimise QPC2 before entering standby mode. Usually when QPC2 is active (minimised or not) automatic standby will never kick in. Mind you, on many occasions a Vista update manages to upset the sleep regime so I freezes the machine. I have to change/confirm the setting to get it working again. Bob, wouldn't mind too much about Vista, as that is broken by design in every possible aspect anyways ;) Win7 however, is IMHO the best OS MS managed to build for quite a long time - But QPC seems to have a problem on the 64bit platform. Re: [Ql-Users] QPC and standby
That sounds perfectly feasible to me, although the error message implies it can't cope with the Windows theme and it says it's switching it to windows 7 basic. Not too bothered by it, as the solution is simply to remember to minimise or close QPC if it is likely to go into standby. I suppose I could make the time-to-standby longer, but that would save less power. Interesting thing is that it didn't do this before going away for repair and it has been reinstalled from the same media to the state it was before (in theory!) Ah well...at least QPC otherwise works very well and very fast on this PC. Re: [Ql-Users] QPC and standby
If I remember correctly Windows 64 bit needs some tweaking to get some 32 bit programs to run properly. I seem to remember something about running 32 bit in a special mode on 64 bit machines. I am sorry I cannot be more specific because I have neither Windows 7 or 8. Perhaps Marcel is able to investigate this and issue either a 64 bit version or a version which is compatible on both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 and 8 machines. Has anybody tried QPC2 on a Windows 8 machine because that may be another can of worms! I wonder if it's not receiving the interrupt to regenerate the screen thus effectively crashing when the window needs to be regenerated after sleep? --- On Mon, 10/6/13, Dilwyn Jones dil...@evans1511.fsnet.co.uk wrote: From: Dilwyn Jones dil...@evans1511.fsnet.co.uk Subject: [Ql-Users] QPC and standby To: QL-Users list ql-us...@q-v-d.com Date: Monday, 10 June, 2013, 12:51 Since my PC came back from repair, QPC2 has started exhibiting an irritating behaviour when the PC goes into standby (manually or automatically after a period of inactivity).
