Bill, My copy arrived here in Houston about a week ago. I used to have a bulk mail permit and strange things do happen, but always found it to be about 95% in a weeks' time. Dan, good luck with your visitors. Sometimes all you need is something like that to get motivated. May everything run in the right direction and remain on the rails! In the Houston area, our NMRA Division 8 is having it's yearly business meeting, picnic and running session with the Houston Live Steamers. They have a fairly long run and every year they add to it. They have an actual operating session in two weeks also. In this case you will be walking some distance and the only things you need to bring are work gloves and a flexible back. Most trains are way freights so throwing switches and cutting cars is the norm. Luckily they haven't gotten to the point of actually dealing with loads yet. There is also a chest high G gauge setup where some members are using live steam or battery powered locomotives generally controlled by model airplane control units--they seem to be happy just to get things running. After returning home, I've got to crawl around the layout to find a short. I had suspected the contacts on a switch machine, but I'm beyond that now. I'm hoping it's just a closed gap--I don't have time for much more investigating. I've got open house in mid November with some long distance travel in the middle. A couple of weekends back I dug out my video camera-those that are the size of a miniature football! The darn thing wouldn't record and kept saying NO CARD. Well it has the capability of shooting stills to a card, but I never use that feature. I finally found out the actual tape was full--duhh! but it could have said: TAPE FULL--I could figure that out! I down-loaded the entire tape to my computer only to find some stuff shot years ago. Three or four trainshows, and some of my layout. The ones of my layout were interesting in that several of the featured items have been sold, and some structures have been moved to new locations. It's almost like going back to visit a 1:1 railyard and discovering things have changed. Does anyone know the heritage of the IC 2-8-0 at Steamtown during the convention? We think it is the same on that a Lou Keller in Iowa owned in the 60's when we saw it there then. Dave Engle
