home page photo. Could you please load the photo of John in the “Photos”

I somewhat feel guilty for taking some of the photos because I know at times

Bill has no control over the new format. He can do nothing until they bring him under the umbrella of NEO. Yahoo will get around to doing that! Remember this is a FREE service, subject to the whims of the Yahoo management. We own nothing here, and have no real say so in how it is set up and run. As an owner and also moderator of another site I got rid of the Yahoo NEO home page photo, In time Bill will have the ability to do the same if he choses. This new format somewhat follows what Google is up to. Maybe there is a merger in the futureJ. Rustermier --- In S-Scale@yahoogroups.com, s-scale@yahoogroups.com wrote:

Re: {S-Scale List} New Photos

2012-05-03 Thread Bob Werre
Gentlemen, I finally got some time to upload some photos of the three
projects I've been talking about on this group. They are in my photo
folder under PhotoTraxx.

The UP caboose has been setting on my caboose track for several years
along with it's yellow brothers. However, because it was never lettered
and painted the wrong shade of BC red it didn't get used.

The combine had been running on the layout lettered on one side only for
the NYC, so that had to change. LBR made up some of the decals that I used.

Next is my UP Gp-30 B unit. I'm pretty pleased with the end results.

My GP-30 A unit didn't make the photo session and the fuel tank on the B
unit hasn't been attached yet. I'm talking with Jim Hinds at Richmond
Controls about trying to design some LED's that are smaller than the
typical 3mm type. Obviously the surface mounted units will be used, but
without some way of easily mounting them in a headlight opening--the
process is painful to do. The two engines have a total of 8 sockets of
which 7 need LED's. It appears that the 'brow' on the top of the A unit
is a solid brass casting that also covers the backside of the headlight
casting. I don't intend to try and drill two holes to fish those fine
wires into at this time.

{S-Scale List} Re: {S-Scale List }New Photos

2011-09-27 Thread Bob Werre
S Friends, I've uploaded a couple of images (look for PhotoTraxx
Modules in the photos area) shot over the weekend of the two modules
that I've been working on. It has five turnouts from four different
sources...two old kits from Darr that are straight #6's, a left over
Old Pullman #6 that I might have bought from Bob Jackson, and 2 #6 wye
turnouts. I built one and Peter Vanvliet helped with the second.
Jack Troxell and Bill Green lent some help with laying down the rail
 during Saturday AM work sessions.
At this time all the rail has been laid, so tonite I'll be cutting gaps
and hopefully began wiring on Wednesday evening. By the weekend, I
should have everything laid, wired and tweeked. After that I'll be
adding some basic scenery and add some borrowed/tempoarary structures.

  Folks,

Let's see if I can give you a complete thought this time. I've just
posted some photos of buildings that I've recently worked on for my
layout. There can be found in the photos section in a folder named
Peter G's Buildings.

The reason for the post, is that I agree with the folks who have said
that the best way to promote S Scale, is to do it and to share it.
I'm new to the hobby, so I don't expect anyone to be overly impressed
by what I've done so far, but I do find that the more of it I do, the
better I get, and there is some satisfaction in that.

The Sand and Gravel plant is my first attempt to scratch build a
structure. I've included two photos of it, one with just the foam
core shell of the structure, and another that is farther along with
much of the siding and the doors and windows installed. Much still
needs to be done, as can easily be seen . I am currently working on a
wooden tipple to go in front of the tower, which is the last major
structural piece. I'm building that out of strip wood that I got a
the local RR hobby shop. It also needs a smokestack on the boiler
house, and a conveyor out the back to bring the rock up to the
crusher in the tower, as well as fine details like lights, railings
and ladders. I'll post one or more pictures when I have it done, or
nearly so.

My view on the state of S Scale modeling is that there is actually
more stuff available then I will ever use, but not all of it is what
I want to model. The result has been that I've had to step up to
building my own, and that has proven to be very good for me.

Comments and critiques on my efforts to date are welcome, as I like
learning how to do better.

Regards

Peter Gagtnon

Hi Andre;

The Hartoy-AHL Ford C cab is the most difficult of
their models to find, but they do show up on ebay a
couple of times a month on average. They (Hartoy)made
a couple of tractor-trailers and a straight van with
that cab. The new owners of the AHL tooling appear to
have a licensing problem with Ford, so they have only
re-issued the Mack and Peterbilt models. There was
also a 1950's Ford F-5 which is a good bit easier to
find than the C Cab.
