Hi Andrew. I guess you will not receive too much answers here. A lot of people are inhome programers, always thinking, their programs weren´t good enough. I did a lot of (unreleased) Spectrum conversions (PD programs in Basic), but also own works such board- and cardgames (mostly for myself). PS Whatever happened to Format? Probably got a shock after posting out all the owed SAM Clocks Now there's an interesting question. I bet this has been discussed ad nauseum before I rejoined the list after a 3-year break a couple of months back, but anyway. Last I heard was about 2 years ago, when I phoned up Colin Macdonald and he mentioned Bob had been ill but was still planning to continue with Format once he got back on his feet - indeed, the editorial of the last issue of Format (circa Feb 99) did mention some health problems. There's been nothing since then, of course - if you do a search for R Brenchley/Gloucester on 192.com it still comes up with the old Format address/number, but if you ring it no one ever answers . . . weird. I'd be the first to agree that Bob could be a complete arse at times, but I still think it's a shame, and very strange, that he should just vanish like that. Yeap, I do repairs! Over the last few months I've done a few - a one meg interface, mouse interface, video circuitry in a Sam, built a couple 256k upgrades, as well as a handful of disk drive systems which is a new product I produce. (see webbie for details of them). There's a lot of info on my website about all my new stuff - and i've still a lot to upload (which i aim to finally get round to sometime this week - new gfx are all done... just got to type up a lot of text!) Everything I do for the Sam is covered in the information pack I send out - see the website or email me directly with your postal address and I can send it out. Gavin Smith wrote: planning to continue with Format once he got back on his feet - indeed, the editorial of the last issue of Format (circa Feb 99) did mention some health problems. Didn't he complain that someone reported him for claiming disability whilst he was still earning money from Format/WCC/Revelation? Nah... not in the pages of Format, anyway. The only clue I can find is in the editorial of the final issue (dated October 1998, but not received till months later): I'm sorry the technical hotline has been out of action for most of the last month. I've been missing from the office due to personal illness - a virus which caused swelling of the cartilage joining my ribs together, this made breathing difficult and talking even worse [...] While I am still suffering a bit, and some of the drugs are leaving me very tired, I am back to the grindstone now [...] That'd certainly explain why he's been out of action (except for posting sillyness on newsgroups) since then, but of course knowing Bob there's always the distinct possibility that it's a complete load of nonsense... He never vanished, he just went quiet on us. He's probably reading this now. Mr Dooré and your sam-users Real Names List of legend - are you still around? Hello Sam Users, I recently rediscovered my Spectrum and Sam and have since been transferring Specy games to Sam disc via a Messenger. I have to get rid of quite a few specy game as I have little space to keep them all (although I am keeping a select few). Anyway this brings me to two questions... 1, Is there any software that will allow me to compress the messenger files on my Sam disc as I can only get 11 games on 1 disc? 2, Does anyone want any Spectrum games? (there are about one hundred)Although I can't afford to post the games so they would have to be collected. Robert Smith __ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
