No, but DMA chip enable hardware scroll, fast transfer of data block between memory or I/O ports, search data... DATA-GEAR versionn for SAM COUPE also contain RESET debouncer, NMI debouncer, possibility connect new button with ZX reset (no reset SAM, but only reset Z80 CPU), jumper for possibility disable MIDI ports (better compatibility with zx games). Now run DMA stable only with fast block transfer (disconnect CPU and stransfer data). I will test soon also byte mode = DMA transfer only one byte and return to CPU. With external 1MB memory can be dma transfer faster. DMA scroll can move screen data from external ram to internal ram. Access to external ram is always fast(uncontended).
