PM I found and removed [EMAIL PROTECTED] from the Message Sniffer

D'oh that was silly of me - forgot to change the return address. Sorry

Is there a easy way to determine the Sniffer version you are running (i.e.

Yup,
just type the executable's filename in a command window, and the version
information is on the last couple of lines in the resulting
help.

If you run the SNF executable on the command line by itself it will
tell you the version and build information at the bottom of it's
message. This is relatively new. If it doesn't do this then it's an
old version for sure.

Hope this helps,

On this list I hope to provide not only support and announcements but
also to foster a community around all of the related issues - often
there are things to be learned from other platforms or related
discussions - even the theoretical ones.

From my perspective the IIS SMTP engine discussion covers a wide range
and is on topic. For example, this is how MS Exchange could be
supported directly. It is my goal to see SNF available and used well
on as many platforms as possible.

That said, we do have many IMail users here so those topics are
frequent as are Declude discussions.

In the end though, there are a lot of people here - most of whom are
dealing with problems and issues that are related to spam, email
services, and related technologies such as DNS, server performance,
networks security, etc. In my view, this community is invaluable and
provides an enriched level of support on all issues by sharing
experiences and additional perspectives.

I would be sorry to see you go, but certainly I understand if this is
not a forum you want to follow.

Re: [sniffer] Seperate Lists?

2005-02-19 Thread Matt
Pete,
Being guilty of being 'chatty' myself, I still second this idea. I
would much prefer to pick through an occasional message dealling with
global announcements regarding the service than picking through both
discussions as well as announcements. I'm not always up to date on this
list and others that I follow and I probably will pay less attention to
them over time as I get buried in other things as many of us do.

Please consider a separate announcement-only list for this purpose.
Alternatively, having both mixed will both overwhelm users not
interested in the more general discussion and it may also cause those of
us that are more 'chatty' to quiet down which stifles the discussion and
the benefit that can be gleamed from it.

Thanks,
Matt

RE: Re[2]: [sniffer] Seperate Lists?

2005-02-19 Thread Dave Koontz
Thanks Matt for clarifying my point, and Pete for considering this. Oddly
enough, I would likely subscribe to BOTH lists, but the seperation would
allow me to filter, target and respond to more 'important' emails notices,
and review discussions *IF* and/or when I have time. As an Email/Network
Admin and IT Manager, I receive hundreds of emails per day, and so I must be
able to automatically prioritize those messages via filters as they arrive
so I can focus on Critical information. Thanks again for your
consideration!
