Hello

2004-12-19 Thread Joe Betsko
Hello,
And hello again. I have been away from this list for quite some time.
My wife was in and out of the hospital for about two years due to
complications from a past serious injury. She has been in the clear
for almost a year. We decided to resume building an Aster Lion kit
that we were building together before life's disruption began. Over
the last few days, I have been trying to catch up on some old familiar
live steam websites.

While I was trying to show off live steam generally to a new co-worker
by surfing to my website about three months ago, I learned that some
company is cyber-squatting my old Gardensteamers.com website . It was
there a month prior, oh well. I hope to have the content moved to
Gardensteamers.net next week as they wanted a few hundred dollars for
the domain.

When we last worked on the Lion, we were just a couple of steps away
from the air test. I will have to renew my SitG subscription. I have
to believe the Lion Tamer article offered operation pointers.

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas.

terry:

this list -- like virtually any i've participated on in the last
decade -- has ebbs and flows. there are times that dozens of messages
are posted each day and then there are times -- like yesterday --
that nobody posts anything.

i still would like to get a discussion going on the relative size
differences between the Sammie and the Bantam -- I'm especially
interested in knowing how long the smoke boxes are from the saddle
tank to the door.

Hello

2000-09-05 Thread Shyvers, Steve

My name is Steve Shyvers. I live in San Jose, California. My interest in
live steam engines goes back a few years. The availability of the internet
a couple of years ago encouraged me to research live steam resources, and
that brought me to the gauge 0 and gauge 1 live steamers. It seemed that
the train people not only had the most information about miniature steam
engines but they also shared it the most freely.

The locomotive roster now consists of a 0-4-0 twin-cylinder modified BAGRS
Project Loco, a Jane, and an assembled and operational Roundhouse Billy
chassis/boiler kit that will eventually get a home-made a cab. There are
plans in the works for building a couple of more small locos.

Work progresses slowly on rolling stock, which is developing a definite
back-woods style. I enjoy building and arbitrarily chose to model to 16 mm
scale and 45 mm gauge.

Someday I hope to have an elevated oval of track in the backyard. For now I
use sectional track placed on the ground as a steamup track. For serious
running I try to attend as many Pacific Coast Live Steamers steamups as I
can.

Regards,
