[Elphel-support] Eyesis workflow

2012-01-24 Thread Jim Watters

Hello,

I am trying to understand footage_procedures.html for processing the Eyesis
files. I am not a Linux expert and don't know php.

Is there a batch process to extract the needed images from the .jp4 files?

http://wiki.elphel.com/index.php?title=Eyesis_workflowoldid=10936
Indicates that processing the .jp4 files can be skipped but from what I can tell
stitch.php requires the individual jpg or tiff files.

When I launch ImageJ I don't get any of Elphel plugins. I see a bunch of related
files in the plugin folder. Any hints of what might be wrong? Is it possible to
batch process a folder of images with ImageJ.
I tried following these instructions.

Re: [Elphel-support] DMA transfer FPGA -- CPU

2012-01-24 Thread Andrey Filippov
Marc,

Bus master (real DMA) was implemented in hardware, but it was never
actually used. Data transfer relies on the ETRAX on-chip DMA controller,
that needs total 5 bus cycles per single 32-bit transfer. So data goes from
FPGA to ETRAX and tghen from ETRAX to memory.

 Hello,

currently I'm trying to understand the principles of the DMA
processing inside the camera. If I got it right the FPGA becomes a
busmaster to write the resulting image into the systems SDRAM (later
to be accessed by the circbuf driver).

One thing is unclear to me:
If the FPGA becomes a bus master, is the SYSCS signal (coming from the
CPU to select the SDRAM chip - CSD0) active or not and how is it
controlled? Since the SYS_BUSEN signal of the FPGA is always '1'
(meaning, that the octal buffers are always disabled (high ohm-ed)), I
have no idea how the RAM is accessed, without that CSD0 signal being high.

 Many thanks in advance,

 Marc

Re: [Elphel-support] Eyesis workflow

2012-01-24 Thread Oleg
Hi Jim,

The ImageJ plugins process images in batch.

Before running a plugin you need to compile it through ImageJ ~ Plugins -
Compile... After that it should appear in the plugins list in the menu.
You might need to restart the ImageJ to get the list updated.

To just open JP4 and save as JPEG there's a plugin JP46_Reader_camera.
The plugin that processes the Eyesis footage is Aberration_Correction -
to get enhanced images you will need kernels for that particular camera.
I could check if we have anything shared online.

Best regards,

Thank you. I had some issues but got through them.

The instructions for installing ImageJ could use some work.

Where can I find information on how to use the plugins?

I have sample images and kernels to work with.

Re: [Elphel-support] Eyesis workflow

2012-01-24 Thread Jim Watters
More progress and more problems processing jp4 files with ImageJ and Aberration
Correction plugin.

I managed to to get the plugins installed and running. I first tested Aberration
Correction on 9 .jp4 files and after about 20 min I got a out of memory error. I
increased it from 512MB to 1024MB.

After 4121 seconds and 32 Need a 3-layer stack with kernels messages it
stopped in the log dialog box it indicated it ran out of memory again. And no
images were created in the results directory.

I increased it to 2000MB and only processed 3 .jp4 files (enough for one pano).
And get the following after a minute or two.

jimw@ubuntu:~/download/ImageJ$ ./run
Configuration parameters are restored from
/data/post-processing/imagej_processed/settings.xml

./run: line 1: 3257 Killed ./jre/bin/java -Xmx2000m -jar
ij.jar
jimw@ubuntu:~/download/ImageJ$

How long should it take to process the .jp4 files? Might I have something else
wrong?

Jim
