Uprao sam i tamo postavio temu i zakazao termin 11. april u 18h. Ja teže pratim forume, a u poslednje vreme sam neaktivan i oko OSM-a jer većinu slobodnog vremena trošim na pokretanje ovog haklaba. I guess, based on a map I trace, there are about 10% by length of them already on the map flagged as roman_road. There are about 30% more that are very close to existing roads, these are probably on, or slightly realigned from the actual course of the roman roads and my tracing lacked adequate accuracy. For example Roman Ermine Street is substantially the same shape as the modern one so I suspect my tracing has moved it a little bit to the west. My current procedure is to mark what I traced as tentative and then as I find further sources increase the confidence value. I have been adding start dates where I can find them. I have tried to scan the Australian equivalents of the OS maps on an A4 scanner and not had much luck, fortunately I have been able to download the complete set as shape files. That was why I offered to contribute to scanning costs. Ordinance Survey does a great job of making the current set for England, Scotland Wales available as shape files but the availability of historic digital maps fall far behind, being commercialized and doled out in tiny chunks using a proprietary format, fine for people planning a day hike to transfer to their GPS but very expensive to get wider coverage and then you can't get it out in any useful format without paying extra for the uncrippled version of MemoryMap. [OSM-talk] Coastline Update
I have completed another coastline generation and it has uploaded. This version respects odbl=clean. The shapefiles are in their normal place at http://pnorman.dev.openstreetmap.org/coastlines/ Included is a .osm file with all the error points. An overview can be found at http://maps.paulnorman.ca/coastlines2.png Detailed views: Great Lakes: http://maps.paulnorman.ca/coastlines-lakes2.png Europe: http://maps.paulnorman.ca/coastlines-europe2.png US West Coast: http://maps.paulnorman.ca/coastlines-west2.png Australia: http://maps.paulnorman.ca/coastlines-au2.png There are no significant multi-square flooded or dry areas. The following areas have significant number of error points: Pudget Sound in Washington State The mouth of the Columbia river in Washington The Eastern Australia coast The points indicated by the maps and by processedc_p files are where coastcheck encountered an error and had to guess where the coastline continues. These should generally represent transitions between ODbL clean and ODbL dirty sections of the coastline. Islands with no ODbL clean sections will not generate any error points. http://www.wightpaths.co.uk/coast/CT-only.php and http://suncobalt.homeip.net:82/coastline.php are two visualizations of errors but neither has yet updated to the new data. I hope to complete one more run of the ODbL-clean coastlines before the downtime. During the downtime I will be running a set of ODbL-clean and conventional coastlines (and a planet file). If diffs are available during the rebuild process I will be generating them then and reloading my database when the ODbL planet is published. Technical details: This new run takes into account odbl=clean. It may not correctly handle 1. Objects that are dirty via a changeset override 2. Objects that WTFE reported clean but are now dirty 3. Certain sequences of edits and tag additions that are not likely to occur frequently with coastlines and which require access to a full history database to evaluate The data is from 7 AM PST and the ODbL status is slightly more recent. ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

Ultimately I want my contributions to be write once, use anywhere. But there are practical considerations. Many of my contributions were built upon work that did not explicitly agree to OSMF's new terms; NearMap and Yahoo in particular. Could I really agree to the OSMF terms anyway? Whilst I'd prefer that my old contributions remained in use by the community, as originally intended, I still have reservations about the open-ended relicensing provisions of the new CTs. I've just re-read the CTs, and must admit they do look less objectionable to me now than when I first read them -- outside of the future reclicensing provisions (clause 3), I don't have any problem with them. Re those provisions, I still have one question, which I'm hoping someone on the list can address. Clause 3 talks about or such other free and open licence. I'm curious as to how free and open license is defined in this context. Both the FSD and the OSD speak specifically to software, not data. In the software world, there have been instances in the past of licenses claiming to be free or open source, without actually adhering to the FSD or OSD. I suspect the same will be true in years to come with respect to licensing of data. To agree to such a future relicensing provision, I think the parameters around it would need to be fairly well defined (not so open-ended). In the absence of a definition in the CTs themselves, that would mean a well-recognised definition of free and open license (with respect to data) existing somewhere else (like the FSD OSD do in the software domain). Can anyone point me to such a definition? Sure. As listed in the terms, the Open Knowledge Foundation has their Open Knowledge Definition. http://opendefinition.org/okd/ Which takes an approach similar to FSD / OSD, but with attention to data, rather than software. http://www.osmfoundation.org/wiki/License/Contributor_Terms ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au

Falls nötig werde ich also odbl=clean ran-taggen.

Re: [Talk-it] Cambio licenza - conseguenze in Veneto
Tallinn 2011 eeltöö sai tehtud http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/State_Of_The_Map_2011/Bid/Tallinn lehele, see on päris hea alguskoht. Re: [Talk-at] Gebietskörperschaften
Hi! | Stephan Plepelits, | | Technische Universität Wien -Studien Informatik

-- Bis demnächst, Boris ___ Talk-at mailing list Talk-at@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-at

Re: [Talk-at] josm source-tag
Hi! [Talk-ca] City boundaries on the Canada/US border
There are a significant number of cities in BC and Washington which have borders that in practice[1] coincide with the Canada/US border. Currently in OSM these are represented with many nearly-overlapping ways. The Canada/US border here consists of the BC-WA border, BC-ID border, BC-MT border, AB-MT border, SK-MT border, SK-ND border, etc. There are separate ways for the cities on the Canada side and cities on the US side. I am considering replacing these with one set of non-overlapping border ways. This would involve splitting the ways whenever a city ends or begins on either side of the border. The border would then consist of a BC-WA border in the water, a Surrey-Whatcom County border (in the water), a White Rock-Whatcom County border, a Surrey-Whatcom county border, Surrey-Blaine border, Langley-Blaine border, Langley-Whatcom County border, Abbotsford-Whatcom County border, Abbotsford-Sumas border, etc. This would reduce the number of ways present when you download a section of the border and have many advantages. The one big disadvantage is that it would boost the number of ways in the Canada and US relations. This increases the chance of conflicts and also increases the number of places it could be broken. Either way, the Canada/US border will remain very complex with so many different boundary relations ending there. If I do this, I will also align the borders to the IBC data (PD). I've investigated the accuracy of their data, and it agrees with the markers on the ground to within 10cm. I believe the most significant source of error in their data is the NAD83 to WGS84 conversion. [1]: The actual legal situation is much more complicated and serves as a good example of the problems that arise when you define what is supposed to be one line in multiple ways. The biggest oddity is that the Washington border extends out of the United States into Canada. All of the other oddities are just a few meters at most. ___ Talk-ca mailing list Talk-ca@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca

[Talk-ca] Clean up progress and last push
Okay, so, u. Wow! I've been looking around with the OSM Inspector to see how the license clean up is progressing elsewhere. You've been busy. Victoria and Nanaimo looked pretty dire a few weeks ago. They're in much better shape now. Southwestern Ontario looks great. The Niagara peninsula and Golden Horseshoe look good. Toronto and environs has some minor issues still, but is much improved. All of that is super to see. There are some spots that could use your attention if you still have some cleaning cycles before Sunday. Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Sydney, Fredericton and Sherbrooke could use some help. There is some coastline to be cleaned near Sept-Iles. Winnipeg and Brandon would like your help. Yorkton, up to Saskatoon and Lloydminster need some love. Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary would benefit from your attention and there are still some areas near Whistler to improve. If you are feeling some cross-border love, perhaps you'll help our lake-mates with the US side of the Great Lakes? The area near Sault Sainte Marie should be looking better. Lake Ontario seems good as does most of Erie. Help out some more, if you can. You've done a super job of sorting out a lot of data. That's great to see.
