Re: [OSM-talk] Potlatch 1.1

2009-07-20 Thread Richard Mann
Having tried it a bit more, shift-click on the relation button appears to
copy the relations on the previously selected way to the current one (ie a
version of the R shortcut, but for relations only). This produces some
undesirable effects, especially when you've got umpteen relations that you
don't want to copy (eg a restriction). It needs documenting.

The ability to copy paste a single tag (including a relation tag) may
prove to be more useful.

Shift-click on the relation button for adding the currently selected way to
the last relation. This is so much faster than just clicking, finding it on
the list, hitting OK. In fact it's so good that it might be worth putting in
the manual... A shortcut key would be even better, so I don't have to keep
moving the mouse across to the bottom right and back - pretty please.

Shift+Ctrl+1-9 / Shift+1-9 to memorise the current tags, and apply the
memorised tags. I'd read the help several times without getting a clear idea
of what that does. Maybe the wording and order I've just used would be
slightly clearer? I also have to say that it's a bit counter-intuitive to
have to temporarily delete various tags from a way to get it down to the one
tag you want to memorise. I'd prefer to be able to memorise a single tag
(currently it doesn't memorise if your cursor is on a specific tag), with
the ability to memorise all the current tags hinted at by saying:
 Shift+Ctrl+1-9 = memorise current tag(s)

You can do that by shift-clicking the relation button (that was one of the
20 Things You Never Knew About Potlatch at SoTM). I'll think about a
 keypress.

This could be a bit more general by allowing the option of memorising a
specific tag that you're applying (eg maxspeed=20mph), probably with a
keystroke, and allowing that to be applied in a single keystroke to
 further
 ways/nodes.

You can do that by pressing shift, control and a number from 1 to 9. Then
to call it back, press shift and the same number. That was another of the 20
 Things. :)

Apols for pre-empting announcement (I would rather have been en route to

 1. Drag a lovely colourful point of interest onto the right place on the
 map
 2. Save
 3. Er, that’s it

I did think about putting ??? and “PROFIT!” in there but I’ll leave that to
the CM guys. But many thanks to one such guy, Matt, for his splendid icons.

 == Photo-mapping ==

You can now do photo-mapping with Potlatch. Just click the camera icon, and
it’ll talk to your favourite online photo storage service to get pictures.

By default it uses openstreetphoto.org - so many thanks to Stefan de
 Konink
(you may want to print that sentence out and frame it) for that. OSP’s
coverage is only beginning but, coincidentally, I believe there’s some good
pictures in Amsterdam. It reads a subset of KML, so you can set up your own
site, and I know John McKerrell is working on one such right now.

 == TIGER fixup ==

There’s two new features to help you fix up the US TIGER data.

A new option will automatically highlight all unaltered TIGER data; select
it in the usual options dialogue.

There’s also a ‘tidy’ tool for those TIGER streets which should be
 straight,
but aren’t. Select the way, make sure the start and end points are the
 same,
and click the ... icon (or press T). The way will be straightened and any
 unnecessary points removed.

Plus there's a whole bunch of little fixes which I'm sure you'll enjoy
finding. As ever, feedback very welcome.

Nice but can anyone tell us how we can add photos to OpenStreetPhoto ?

Neither the page on openstreetphoto.org nor

All I can find are details about how it could be implemented, and some
